Do you ever read anything that challenges your world view or just stuff that confirms it?  For someone who finds a way to mention most every day that he hates the media and believes it is all biased, you consume it at a rate far higher than most anyone I know.  I guess a heroin addict can still hate heroin.

Being a cop would suck sometimes.

The one cop in there was as nice as possible.  What you find out in the story too was the main Karen had organized and planned the whole thing as a confrontation as opposed to being out for a nice day with her kids.  I guess she uses her kids as a prop to make her points.  And don't even try to put a vaccine anywhere near this woman's family.

"Go ahead and arrest me!"
"Hey, you can't arrest me!"

Quaker, if you aren't married, this chick would be perfect for you.

Please read up on the Families First Act and the Cares Act.

That is a good start and wow look at you championing a bill that in any other time you would be railing against.

Since this is a talking point your leader introduced (as opposed to you thinking it up), let's recall what else he said about it.  The first time he brought it up, there were a few hundred deaths from coronavirus.  He pointed out the number of car accident deaths (40,000) per year was far in excess of the number of virus deaths.  At the time, early in the pandemic, this was true.  Now it is not.  And has been pointed out on here, we've reached 46,000 dead in a little over a month.  If we lost 40,000 people in a month to car accidents, you can be assured that major steps would be taken to change that.

On top of all this, the number of dead from coronavirus is a byproduct of the steps we've been taking as a society.  If we had not been social distancing for the last 5 weeks, we could be dealing with a number far higher.

False.  The statistic was included in the cost/benefit column I posted by Walter Williams.

Sorry you missed it.

Government shut down the economy; accordingly it is government that must address it.

It cannot get any easier ….c’mon people.

We know. If you personally agree with it, it's good; if you don't, then it's trash. And yet, when you rant about bias, you never seem to be capable of having enough self-awareness to realize that anyone as partisan as you possesses as much inherent bias as anything else ever could.

My bias leans toward our founding principles:  individual liberty, freedom, private enterprise, capitalism.

I read it. But he, like you, has chosen to regurgitate the same talking point Trump brought up 6 weeks ago. BTW, Trump has the sense to see that this point is no longer accurate, so he sensibly dropped it.

You sure?

So ...

Anti-corporate bailouts?  Anti-tariffs?  Pro-streamlined immigration/emigration?  Anti-Social Security?  Anti-government contracts with private companies?  Anti-tax?  Pro-decriminalization of drugs?  Pro-gay marriage?  Pro-private property rights (like when Facebook and Google prohibit some speech on their platforms)?  Pro-gender identity rights?

How pro-liberty, pro-capitalism are we actually talking here?

You do realize 6% of a small sample size equates to a huge number in general population right?

6% of a mortality rate that is probably less than 0.5%, and would equate to less than 100k people in the general population....So a healthy person with no underlying condition (and the flu kills such people every year - it's usually due to an undiagnosed comorbity or an overreaction of the immune system) has a very slim chance of dying from this.

As awful as it sounds, poverty/economic depression kill a lot of people, too.  We are literally spending millions of dollars per life to save people who probably only have a few months to a few years left.  And if we continue down this path, we will also end-up taking years from people, if not killing them, by letting their jobs die.

A vaccine is at least 12 months away.  It's a far deadlier choice to continue these lockdowns for another year.  Most experts don't think coronavirus is going away, so we need a plan to get back to work and a plan to deal with flare-ups.  Staying home until this thing burns itself out isn't a practical option.

The more studies that come out showing low death rates lead me to believe Sweden may have the right approach.

Sweden is similar in size to Ohio and has 3x as many deaths as we do right now but is also way closer to herd immunity. I think we have to balance keeping hospitals from being overwhelmed but keeping things going as well. Ohio will continue to close the gap on the number of deaths in Sweden because over 12-18 months before a vaccine people are going to become infected. We’re also going to see an increase in mental illnesses and suicide because of job losses.

I think it a hard decision either way but it will be interesting to see how similar the numbers are between Ohio and Sweden when everything is said and done.

I could deal with one nutcase. But when three dozen of them start shouting the same shit and pulling out their phones to record it, idk, that’d be really tough.

I enjoyed the others pointing out that her kids were still there while she was being arrested. Oh, the same kids she brought with her to stir up shit? Now we care about those kids?

LMAO, sometimes you should just keep your thoughts in your brain or at least closed doors...

Despite that, I didn't look into it, but how about the research that apparently shows heat/sunlight slows/kills the virus?  I wishfully hope this is true.  Southern Italy doesn't have nearly the amount cases of the North and I always wondered if it was because we get sunlight and generally have warmer weather.

They are having the biggest argument on my Facebook timeline right now about whether he said these comments or not. Even with video there are people who swear he didn’t say it, that he was talking about injecting light (however you would do that), and that the media is taking things out of context and editing the tape. I just think it’s funny and not a big deal. Super dumb tho
