Yeah, aren't they also deepening the harbor there too to increase the port? They are trying to compete with the other east coast ports, like Savannah.  That is also leading to a boom in industry.

The Ports are hot right now. Savannah, Charleston, and Jax are all racing to deepen the harbors to get the huge new boats that can now get through the Panama Canal.  And a ton of new jobs come with it.

When I drove through Jax a few years ago I was shocked by how big it is.

It's also the biggest city in the lower 48 (area wise). About 750 square miles.

Florida has no  statewide mask mandate, but some locales require them. I don't recall being inundated with these videos out of Florida, but I could have missed them.

Florida Man has MANY other ways to go viral that don't involve the "muh rights say no masks!!!" sort of pedestrian stuff that the people of other states rely on to get attention.

The confusing part is who enforces that at the store? It has fallen on the store staff to do it and that has led to those viral stupid videos of people yelling about rights and shit.

Sounds like poor training on the part of the store. The associate should not get in an argument with the customer, nor should the manager the associate should be trained to call at the first sign of conflict. The manager should simply tell the "guest" that he/she is no longer welcome.

DeWine said all health restrictions will be lifted when we meet 50 cases per 100,00 people for two weeks. No idea what we’re at now. Can’t imagine with the vaccines ramping up it could take that long?

He said 179 as of yesterday. Seems pretty simple as the vaccines need to be rolled out faster and that will get that rate down faster.

Can’t wait to see all the whining on Reddit about it later.

Cases is a stupid metric because it's a lot easier to manipulate with testing. If you're gonna base it on something it should be hospitalizations.

You don’t even need to go to Reddit. I’m whining 24/7 on here.

Agreed, we are supposed to “flatten the curve” so we don’t over run hospitals. Once we get the 50+ age group vaccinated hospitalizations and deaths will be very low.

You would think they would figure this out after a year...

We need to remember most people are stupid...The moment they start telling people things are under control is when everyone stops all following the guidelines and a bunch more don't bother to get vaccinated.

IMO, even if we get to herd immunity it's probably not going to prevent a future mutation from being prevalent (like the seasonal flu).  It will take 2-3 years to crank-up enough global vaccinations to potentially wipe it out.

But maybe if you've been vaccinated or actually had it then it won't be that big of a deal no longer "novel" to your system.

Agree. It should be hospitalizations.

However, it is better than nothing. Low bar I know.

Is this true, don't we need to shut down small businesses and don't let kids smile at each other to protect everyone, even if the severity rate is less than 1%?

After a year of science gathering, to keep the healthy population locked down for less then .03% of the population is ridiculous.

Seems to be about pride now. State/local government's dug themselves so far in the lockdown hole they creep out the reopening to not look like they were huge mistakes. They'll piggyback it on the increasing vax numbers to save face.

Biden calls out the Texas governor over removing the mask mandate, and at the same time allows 108 covid-infected illegal aliens to waltz into Texas and be dispersed throughout the country, along with tens of thousands more on the way.

Mind numbing.

If they want re-elected they will pull out fast.
