We don’t know what the numbers would look like if quarantine was any longer, or stricter, or never happened at all. So it’s hard to say what they’re doing is definitely wrong. 

But I do think DeWine could have cooled it with the 10pm curfew a while ago.

I was out shopping today and I was in an extremely busy clothing store.  Hundreds of people.  All I could think of is how we are locking up dining and allowing this.  Unreal.

Got my first dose of the Moderna vaccine today. So far only a sore arm. I have been hearing the 2nd dose is when most people feel like shit.

Initially people may have been more or less compliant.  But that ship sailed a long time ago - extended "pseudo lockdowns" don't work on a volunteer basis.  To stop the private gatherings, you need to actually enforce the curfew and not just shutdown bars and restaurants.

Recent data seems to show that bars and restaurants that implemented safety measures weren't a significant source of spread.  And my guess would be the closures actually led to increased private gatherings where no one followed or enforced safety measures.  Which would mean closing restaurants was counter productive.

I thought I had seen where Pfizer and Moderna only tested people who were symptomatic.  And that's why people need to continue to wear masks even after being vaccinated, because it's unknown what rate still get asymptomatic cases and whether they are then infectious.

If you get an asymptomatic or very mild case, then big deal.  However, if it's not actually very effective at preventing an infection then it creates many opportunities for the virus to continue to mutate.

33% doesn’t seem very high.  I thought they were touting over 50% effectiveness after 1st dose

I think it's poorly worded.  I don't think they are saying 33% effective, just noting a 33% decrease in cases since immunizations started.

Some of that would probably be attributable to coming off a post-holiday peek in cases.  But they've already vaccinated about 1/5th of their population....so all this really says is it's working.

33% is just the drop in COVID infections after 14 days of the first dose.  That's a pretty good return, especially when their entire country hasn't been vaccinated.   I hope we see the same in the US and other countries. 

Exactly 6 weeks ago to this hour i lost my taste and smell.  Tested positive that day.  Taste and smell just came back.

Whats for dinner now that I can taste it?

BTW.........Green tea with Tumeric powder in it is what I did to get it back.

What a tool.  this is a slap in the face of ADULTS and their abilty to make ADULT decisions with their life and health.  We have been at this for a year, I think these politicians can stop babysitting us and let us make our own decisions.  We all know the risks (or lack of risk) based on our health.

I have spent my whole life being extremely healthy.  I eat organic food, maintain proper body weight and run marathons.  I think I can handle a little virus.

I'm getting that bodies test today for the hell of it. I hope I have them.

Can you get this test free anywhere or do they all cost money? I tried searching online but didn't see much. Our local grocery store has them for $25.

Donate blood at the Red Cross and it's free. 

I wanted to go by appointment only, so $10 to schedule and the rest should be covered. If my insurance won't cover, it's $46. 

Free option means you stand in line outside in the cold for hours. It's been a disaster. I have heard you can check in now and they text you when to come in.

I thought about doing this (2nd time), until I was spontaneously able to get the vaccine.  With the amount we traveled during late spring thru october, I am surprised my wife and I didn't get COVID.

"Adult" decisions are a big part of the reason that we're in the situation we're in.

Kroger has antibody test for $25. You can schedule it through Little Clinic. You probably could also just walk in and have it done assuming they aren’t busy.

As Fab said you can donate blood and they’ll test it but it took the blood center about 7-8 weeks for them to mail me the results.
