Didn't you have a thread on this?

Yep.  Same folks.

Well, if someone hits your car they give you their insurance and you contact them for repairs (unless it's a no-fault state).

Years ago, there was a leak in our building traced to a common wall between me and a neighbor.  They ended-up doing the repair from my unit, but it was actually the neighbor's pipe.  Her insurance covered it all, but I let my insurance company deal with hers.

Also, I'd prepare yourself to be sued.  There's no case, and you'd hope they won't find a lawyer who tries to shakedown your insurance, but they could also take you to small claims for up to $10k, frivolous as it may be.  Hopefully your insurance company would represent you, because I wouldn't call out a dumb judge not knowing or ignoring the law saying "well, it was your tree so you should pay".

Yeah, I'm pretty much counting on them trying to sue.  If/When that happens, I'll definitely be talking to USAA to see to what degree they're typically involved.

Drivers who created the circumstances for an auto accident, then drive away when the accident occurs.

My wife and I were rear-ended couple weekends ago, car behind going 10 mph, estimated. No injuries to me or my wife, or to the  driver that hit us - thankfully.  The other driver had the same insurance company we did.  Police dispatcher advised us to exchange info and file a report the next day.  Our agent filed the claim on our behalf, the other party accepted it, and repairs and rental being handled at no cost to us.

But it all started with a driver in front of us who came to a dead-stop on a 45 mph business district, no signals, half in our lane, half in the center left-turn lane, with nobody blocking their path to turn left.  I was well behind them, braked and stopped safely, but traffic on right prevented me from going around

They were in that position a good five seconds before and five seconds afterward.  After the collision, the front car finally turned into the parking lot, the driver looked at us - and ran off.  I was so mad.

So to me, it's not really any different than Budweiser featuring late-stage alcoholics in their ads and celebrating them for their "lifestyle choice".

Thanks for the great idea!

Notre Dame caught fire.  Better rush to social media to tell about my vacation to Europe and how it affects me so much b/c I saw it while there.  Better send my thoughts and prayers as well.

I will never understand why my phone can update through 4G in minutes, but my laptop, hardwired with an ethernet cable, takes hours to update the same apple update...

Drives me crazy. Look at Obama's tweet about it. It's like 9/11 just happened in Paris...nope, a church/museum caught fire.

Well my laptop is a POS, so I’m not surprised. Of course as soon as I posted earlier, the update finished in like 30 secs. But it had been running for damn near 25 min before that.

I was talking about this last night with my wife.  I opened open up instagram and the first 5 posts are people posting photos of themselves in front of Notre Dame Cathedral with their long winded post.  Pretty much as self serving tribute and was not shocked at all by the people who were posting it.

Speaking of 9/11 this also reminds me of the last time i was at the 9/11 memorial and there were people taking photos in front of the FDNY memorial plaque for the first responders who died.  I don't think we are far off (if it hasn't happened yet) from people taking selfies of themselves WHILE a tragic even is occurring.

When people do nice things, but it somehow gets spun to be a negative. Perfect example: billionaires in the US donate $700M to help rebuild Notre Dame cathedral. Yet, instead of saying “wow, what a kind thing to do and a great way to use your wealth in a humanitarian way” I am seeing “oh, but yet they don’t want to help Flint, MI give their residents clean water...racist pigs”

I cannot fucking stand when people try to politicize everything so much that it makes a very kind thing look racist or wrong.

I'm with you, there.  No one has any business telling someone how to spend their own hard earned money.  If someone wants to save 90% of their money, donate 0%, even though they'll lose it all when they die.  Who cares?  If someone wants to spend 90% of their money and not save any.  Let them.  It's none of your fucking business.

People judging the value of someone else's time bugs the fuck out of me too.  "You should be able to do this.  Not like you're doing anything."  How I spend my time is my business, not yours.  Personal time, obviously.   Not business/job time.

I think I saw this happening at a school shooting scene, but I can't remember which one.

Actually, this just came to mind. Not a school shooting, but the Vegas shooting. Dan Bilzerian recording himself telling what he saw and how he was going go grab his guns. About 30 minutes later he had someone recording him back at the scene with his guns going up to cops telling them he was going to help.  So, I stand corrected, because it’s alreasy happening.

That shit's been annoying for a long time. I remember a number of years ago, when some catastrophe like a typhoon or hurricane hit somewhere outside of the US and people were making contributions to help out. Some people were bitching because "a lot of people here need help, but you're donating to help over there" reasons. GFY, dudes, if someone is doing something to help people, no one needs to hear you being a little bitch because of who is being helped. Just like no one needs to hear some dipshit trying to say that because a billionaire gave a hundred thousand or so, they're actually being super-stingy because they can afford to give more. Dude, when you can afford to give $100K and are giving more, instead of the $25 you're congratulating yourself for donating, then you have the right to judge how much they're giving.

To be honest, she's not wrong. Those churches will probably struggle to raise money to rebuild, if they manage to at all.  Meanwhile, people pour $1B into a restoration project France and the Catholic Church are more than capable of funding.

While I don't agree with shaming people for how they spend their money, the root of most charitable fundraising is an appeal to emotion.

She's not right or wrong. What church money deserves to go to for a rebuild is a matter of opinion; there is no right or wrong answer. Whoever those people donate their money to is where they want it to go. It's not some internet SJW like Megan Romer's place to decide where it should go.

I agree and disagree.  I'm all for encouraging people to donate to the lesser fortunate churches (she's right), but not at the expense of shaming people for how they donate (she's wrong).
