I’ve been driving to a burb in the south suburbs of Chicago for the last 3 years. For the entire time there’s been construction on a part of my commute that’s caused huge delays for me. They finished up 2 weeks ago and the last 2 weeks have been incredible.

Well, starting April 1 I’ll be covering a different territory and won’t be driving to that burb anymore. Sweeet timing.

One only needs to MFF in his conference tournament to get the number one seed in the NCAA tourney!

...and how about Marinelli and Smith in the first round???

I don't like the word to begin with. I think it's belligerent, ignorant, mean, disgusting and every other bad thing you can say about it. That being said, I also believe that nobody owns words.

I hope there comes a time when nobody has a desire to say it.

"The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said Tuesday that after reviewing the case, Smollett's volunteer service and his willingness to turn his bond over to the city, "we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.""

The State Attorney didn't even make this dipshit apologize and he is already running his mouth about being truthful. Chicago really is a cesspool.

That's awful.  Jussie should have done time, I think equal to what the perps would have done if that had been a real crime.

Hopefully his career is over, at least.  But in Hollywood probably can't turn its back on a gay black man.

Responses to the smollet case are almost identical to the mueller report responses. if you were on his side before the verdict you see this as complete vindication that he was not guilty, if you thought he was guilty you still definitively think he is guilty and got away with it.  or as stated its chicago so there is that.

Both cases seem pretty cut-and-dry -  No collusion and Smollett WAS guilty.  Sure, there is a subset of the population for which facts don't matter, but the facts here don't appear to be questionable or in doubt.

But this might be a fairly standard decision for filing a false police report.  I'd guess it's almost always probation, and if he had active charity work it might make sense.

I mean, I get the use between people to whom it refers.  I have a friend who grew up Welsh, and that's the majority of my ancestry, as well, and we've referred to each other as 'sheepshagger' before, but if someone from Ireland or England were to call him that, I know he'd get hostile about it.  I wouldn't care as much if someone called me that, but it would still bug me a little, since it does take shots at my ancestry.

I'm sure it's not a 1-to-1 parallel, but I can at least see the way it's used.  In one context, it's a term of camaraderie.  In another, it's an insult.

I do agree, though, that the world will probably be better off when it's no longer used by anyone.

Yeah, Chicago is a hole.  I don't really care about Smallet doing time, though I wish there were an instrument through which he'd have to pay for the police man hours and resources used to chase this wild goose.

I mean, I'm sure if he lays low, he'll be able to get work again after awhile, but I'd assume any chances of being on another primetime hit are out the window.  The court of public opinion can be a bitch.

His lawyer is saying it was no plea deal or any deal at all. I did see the prosecutor said exactly what u stated but I have also read they didn’t have a case for whatever reason

It remains to be seen how they spin and promote him.  He's not Weinstein - he definitely can come back from this.  He's still going to be a "victim", even if this particular incident was staged.

And he's not out of the woods, yet.  Still being investigated for federal mail fraud.

I'm betting nothing comes of that, either.

Just saw that the police union is pushing for an investigation into how the case was handled?

Seems there was some sort of deal....and the MAYOR and SUPERINTENDENT were both shocked and upset by it.  Sounds like a rogue prosecutor decided to just give him a pass, basically.

Assuming this is real, I would like to meet whoever paid for/put up the billboard and punch them in the face. It may reconnect some synapses in their brain to work a little better.

Initially State Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself from the Smollett case.

Something shady is definitely going on. It’s chicago. The city is ran on crime.

Wouldnt be surprised if the prosecutor received a large donation to her campaign fund or some offshore account she owns.

I heard the city gets to keep his $10,000 bond.  How does the city keep the bond if charges are dropped?
