Here's the more likely scenario: Trump and his team paid a doctor to run tests on him and say that he's "ultra-fit" which is exactly what Trump would call himself. Even better, they found a doctor that used to be Obama's doctor (like that means anything, but hey, right wingers like QO will eat it up!). So, the doctor takes his $100k (or whatever) and releases a statement that he's ultra fit. OMG! Science! Right wingers like QO eat it up and say things like he's "medically diagnosed as ultra-fit, and passes cognitive tests with flying colors" Then people on the left will post pictures of him being fat on a golf course and fat shame him similar to the fat shaming that they oh-so-despise when others do.

Meanwhile, there's millions of (normal) people, like me, who just want to hear about 90 seconds of ACTUAL news and see what is going on in the country. Yet, we have to sift through the dozens of news sites' front pages that ask, "is Trump in good shape?" like that fucking matters?? just to get to an article at the bottom corner of the website that shows actual news.

And then, tomorrow, we wake up to a whole new Trump story, rinse, wash, repeat.  Love this country!

I think things hit a new low when everyone started posting pictures of him next to pro athletes who share his height and listed weight. Anyone who knows even the smallest bit about athletic training and exercise should know that two people can be the same height and weight, but look super-different if one is an elite athlete whose entire day revolves around conditioning and lifting weights and the other is a tub of jello whose idea of exercise is walking from his cart to his golf ball and back again and angrily pounding his fingers against his Twitter app on the phone. But there you have it: People posting pictures of him side-by-side with a pro athlete who is all muscle and acting completely incredulous.

I mean, there is some humor in the dude at the center of the moronic birther movement getting mocked by a so-called "girther" movement, but it's the sort of stupid waste of time that really should be used in a more productive manner.

One of the more puzzling things to me is why Trump, a multi-billionaire obsessed with appearance and image, wore such poorly fitting suits early in his campaign (until someone apparently shamed him into getting a better tailor).

I'm waiting on you Quaker to post the Apple news. It is actually pretty good and hope more companies do the same.

You are slipping man.

There have been a shit ton of companies embracing supply side economics.  This one is huge considering the amount and it’s a left leaning company. Not really sure how Dems can spin this as bad.

I see how Trump’s chief of staff has said Trump was uninformed when he made statements on the border wall and immigration during his campaign.  Well no shit.  When’s Mexico’s wall bill coming due?

Look, he does play a round or two of golf every day,

If riding a golf cart while playing a round or two, your heart rate is barely ever above resting.    Golfing while riding is not exercise.  Golfing and walking, OK.

Are you implying that a shutdown would slow down the economy?  Doubtful.

I don't think either side wants a shutdown, but it is becomming pretty apparent that the dems truly don't want a DACA deal done.  It's much better to run on it and win seats.  It's pretty much their version of the GOP telling us they would repeal obamacare.   This is where I come in with my broken record to tell you all that both parties are full of shit.  The sooner everyone realizes this; the better.

No sense in doing a DACA deal without an entire overhaul of immigration law, and border security.  The deal would end up being temporary and the can kicked down the road again.  The people want this issue dealt with properly, once and for all.

It's good to see we have overcome all the dysfunction of government since the last shutdown in 2013....

I think there will be a short term CR to kick the can another month, but I have no faith in it because no one is sure what Trump will do. Also, while some D's and R's are actually trying to make a deal, others are just playing to their base and probably want a shutdown.

So far, Trump is sucking just as much as Obama, maybe even more, on trying to make Government function.

Shut it down for 3 months; no one will know it happened.

Well, I just know my friends at NIH, HHS, DHS, and NOAA would be furloughed and won't be able to finish their research and projects. I was talking with them last night at a happy hour and we were discussing how their projects and research would be impacted.

They will also still get their pay eventually in backpay. So, sure let's just shut it down and see what happens.

Cool story dude, you have friends in the DC area.

I can't see a scenario where either party would be dumb enough to not back pay these people.  This happened the last two shut downs.  The real furlough happened before the 2013 shut down and people actually lost a chunk of their paycheck every pay period.

We will most likely see another CR.  I don't see the issue with DACA amnesty and border security.  It's not a ridiculous request from the GOP. It's a bipartisan deal and a fair compromise.  This is how our government is supposed to work.   As I said earlier, I don't think the dems truly want to resolve anything regarding DACA, because they know they can use it to churn out votes (i.e. GOP with repealing obamacare).

Yeah, so do you. I was expecting you to chime in.

I'd agree they will be paid back. So, this whole discussion is just so fucking dumb. A shutdown is the least effective way to operate the Government.

Blowing up government is the first step in fixing it.

If it is shutdown, they can use the time to fix the DC metro system.   :)

Funny how it was all the obstructionist Repubs, and now the shoe is on the other foot and Dems are doing the same thing.

Pelosi and Reid were far more toxic and did far more damage to "business as usual" than Obama ever did.  All Obama really did was use the IRS and DOJ to go after political opponents - community organizing is HARD on a national level.

The weaponization of federal agencies under obama was literally chilling.  Where the fuck was Jeff Flake when this Stalinization was occurring.

Which republican(s) is the one responsible for the looming shutdown?  It shouldn't be difficult to pass a short term CR with the majority.
