Onother spin.
You were voted in. If you really wanted to be apart of this league than a single member should not matter.
Another Big Red booster trying to save face!
You asked and was accepted!!!!!!
If Cambridge was not willing to play us in football even though we joined the league, then what in hell are we doing there???
We know when we're not wanted. -

No you don't!FairwoodKing wrote:

Oh, yes, we do! We were smart enough not to get entangled in the mess with ECOL, weren't we?Darkon wrote:

There is a Booster section on the website under "Big Red Nation"...you can print out the Booster Card and send in your membership money at the address provided.FairwoodKing wrote: On another subject, how do I go about joining the Big Red Boosters Club? I would like to join before I move to Steubenville. My father was a member for at least 50 years and they ultimately made him Booster of the Year. I still have his encased football in my home. -
ManO'WarThat league would have ended just like the Eastern Buckeye League, which Cambridge also was a memeber of, with teams bolting after a few years of getting beat, and then we would be right back where we started from.
It's also funny how the two leagues that formed after the EBL didn't offer Big Red an invite either (the River Valley League and the Buckeye 8)....not that I would be in favor of joining those leagues anyways. -
The BearIf they were invited, would they accept first, then decline?
-
bridgeport2001Both MARIETTA , and CAMBRIDGE refused 2 play them in football.

DarkonI have some new and interesting information. The ECOL teams didn't "refuse" to play Big Red, they "refused" to be bought. Big Red made it very clear they did not want to travel to Marietta and Cambridge, they offered teams money to come play year after year at Harding Stadium, which they refused. They wanted a fair schedule and to keep their home games which who could blame them for that? Its funny how some people's perception of "refusing to play us" is viewed. The ECOL teams agreed to play, they just didn't agree to travel to Steubenville every year to play them.
-
GoChiefsHow about this...nobody knows what happened except the ECOL and Steubenville. Until either one comes out and publicly says what happened, we will never know. It's all just hearsay from someone else. Never what someone hears and says, someone else is going to hear and say something else that contradicts it.
Furthermore Darkon, I have a feeling I know where you got that information...and if that's true...well just says thats not a very credible source concerning anything Steubenville. -

I don't believe this.Darkon wrote: I have some new and interesting information. The ECOL teams didn't "refuse" to play Big Red, they "refused" to be bought. I said it was interesting. Not fact. This being a message board I thought it was something others might also find interesting. I also believe we may never know the whole story.GoChiefs wrote: How about this...nobody knows what happened except the ECOL and Steubenville. What do you care how I got this info? -

Nonsense. We would have had no control over home/away games had we joined the league. There is a set number of home games that each league team has against the other and that would have been decided by the ECOL officials, not the member schools. No amount of 'bribing' would change that.Darkon wrote:

Then how did Cambridge and/or Marietta decide not to schedule us?RedBlackAttack wrote:

Again..that's just what you HEARD. Cambridge or Marietta can not refuse to play someone in the league. The league determines the games. That's how it is with ALL leagues. With Marietta not even being in the league yet, they are not going to step on anyone's toes and refuse to play anyone.FairwoodKing wrote: Then how did Cambridge and/or Marietta decide not to schedule us? -
BR-RedneckHere is some new news I heard on BR football.............. game 2 of the season will be played in pa somewhere I think we are now playing mckeesport (rock) not sure on the name . and the the Morgantown game will be played at B R on a Saturday...............NOW this is just hearsay. I do not stand by my posting.lol
-
ManO'WarMcKeesport is on the eastside of PGH...different from McKees Rocks. If we play them I'm assuming it would be at the Woodland Hills Rally.
Hosting Morgantown would mean us hosting the Iggy/Bosco game too. -
BR-Redneckdoes woodland hills play in a dome??
-
ManO'WarNo, they play in The Wolverena...a nice stadium in Turtle Creek (near Monroeville) that's seats about 12,000.
-
SykotykDefinitely would be cool. I was already planning on attending the Rally at Woodland Hills that day anyways.
Sykotyk -
wags6817Is there going to be some type of football rally in the valley again this year like the last two?
-
seabee570they already said in the pittsburgh post-gazette paper that there will be 4 games played at the wolvarena,4 teams from western pa,2 teams from florida,I have to find the names, but both florida teams are pretty good, and 2 teams from ohio.there may also be some type of rally in ohio. I saw highlight film of one of the kids from florida, chevelle bouie,(or bowie)he has a few big school division I offers.
-
FairwoodKingI doubt if Woodland Hills would ever invite us to play at their place. We have scorched them the three times we've played them. I don't think they like us.
-
ManO'WarWoodland Hills is scheduled to play one of the Florida teams.
Fairwood, it would be up to the event organizer, not WH, as to who is invited...which my gut says is us.
