Big Red breaking news.

  • seabee570
again,I have to agree with super787.starting at woodland hills, the big red took alot of hits....not just macon.continuing thru the season, guys were hurting, but still continued to play br ball.this years schedule is nowhere near as tough as last years.....west virginia teams, brooke, and morgantown are ok,but how far would they go in ohio? I have been to every aaa championship for about 10 years....the only team that would be close to br was south charleston,2 yrs ago. reno is smart....br can play with top teams in most divisions, but to play big schools with good tradition, week in,and week out takes a toll.this years schedule should be a little easier.....rrr............................

    Let's compare:

    Last year/This year

Indian Creek/Inkster...this goes to Inkster easily
Woodland Hills/Buchtel*...this goes to WH for now
East Liverpool/Brooke...The Bruins are much better
St Joes/St Johns....Johns is better than Joes
Fairview/Morgantown...toss up, but Motown is a much larger school
Park/Park...this years Park team has to be better, can't do much worse
Massillon/Massillon...playing at PBTS will make this a much harder game to win
Poland/Ursuline...Poland is good, but Ursuline is back to back state champs
    Inkster/St Joes....Inkster in a landslide
    O'hara/O'hara....toss up

I would say at this point in time that this years schedule is harder...hope I'm wrong.

How do you think this year's Big Red team will be? Better or worse than last year's? I know we lost Macon and several other good players, but we seem to have some good players coming back. How do you think we'll do?

P.S. I'm FairwoodKing. The new software doesn't like my screen name.

I think that overall we should be better, just from the fact that we started a lot of underclassmen last year, and now they all have a year or two under their belts.

The biggest question mark is the QB naturally....but if we can run the ball and gradually bring the passing game along, then we'll be alright.

The defense should be the strong point of the team coming in.

The kicking game will be the same with Pierro punting and probably kicking XP's too...I'm guessing McClurg will handle the KO duties.

Can't we find a kid on the soccer team to kick XP's for us? I'll take a girl if she is accurate.

Last year we had a soccer player..but he quit before the first game. I'd rather have someone who is really dedicated to the sport of football and will be there, then some part timer..just my opinion.

I would agree with you except that the dedicated players can't kick a ball. Last year our XP's were a crap throw and we had absolutely no field goal effort. One of these days that is going to come back to haunt us.

REALLY ? I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing that up.

Let's not start again about Massillon's state championships. I'm old enough that I saw some of Massillon's championship teams, and believe me, they were tough. Most of those championships went through Steubenville, and we got the bruises to prove it.

Big Red has never stopped honoring our pre-1972 teams that won the championship. Those years are painted on the front of our stadium. Big Red and Massillon should both be proud of their early teams that did so well.

It's all in good fun Massillon fans.If you will look up the thread on the 22 title arguement you will see my post say I'm all for claiming those titles.Until you get a real one of course then you guys may be in a bit of a dilema. Then again that's Massillon fans business.

Then why did Morgantown have the game on their schedule long before Big Red had it on ours?

    I don't know ask Fred!

At the last booster meeting, Reno did mention a signed contract had not yet been returned; he did not specify which team it was.
    Cheers.

Can you share it with the rest of us?

If the Morgantown game is not offical yet, then why did they release the schedule? I thought that's why no one knows the schedule until like April, because they are waiting on unreturned contracts?
  • FairwoodKing
Hey, it's June. All of these contracts should be signed by now.
