Apparently Liverpool dropped us. Considering how hard it has been these past few years for Big Red to get a schedule, I doubt seriously if we dropped them.ts1227 wrote: No East Liverpool on the schedule... they always play each other.

Did you see the score last year without Macon???? Do you REALLY think they would schedule them again? It was WAY TOO close!ts1227 wrote: No East Liverpool on the schedule... they always play each other.

SQ_CraziesCan't even get 5 Ohio teams, that's embarrassing. Somebody step your game up and play the big dogs!

You don't think that maybe Big Red is loosing credit for as much as they talk a big game? Maybe that they have been sliding by on their coaching alone? Maybe they needed to make a statement to get the respect back? Face it... You ARE NOT the best team in the state, you "might" have been able to win D5 or D6 this last year... Sure your better than us, but where is your money? Your mouth is writing checks your players cant cash. You know what I would like to see? Big Red go 8-2 this year. You do that and you might earn my respect. Less than that and you can continue to schedule good teams that are down to make a name for yourselves... Man I would be proud of something like that... I hope you continue this path... Sometime it seems your heart is in the right place, but your head isn't. Take pride in what you have done and hope that your children follow the same path with the determination to 1-up their pops...MANAZE wrote: Creek is a good school for the most part like I said before there were a just a lot of problems when I was there and hopefully those problems will be gone by the time my kids come through.

Massillon made it to the state semi-finals in Div. I last year and Ursuline is the two-time defending state champ in their division. Brooke and Inkster are both defending state runners-up. Morgantown won the big-school state championship as recently as 2005 and 2006.SQ_Crazies wrote: Can't even get 5 Ohio teams, that's embarrassing. Somebody step your game up and play the big dogs!
Last year Big Red beat Massillon, Poland, Woodland Hills, and Dover. There is not another team in the OVAC that could have beaten any one of those teams.
There is nothing wrong with Big Red's schedule. It gets us prepared for the playoffs and gives us a lot of computer points. We also make a lot of money off of our football program. As I have said on here before, our football team pays for a math teacher. How many other teams can say the same? -

Reno is satisfied if he wins by one point. I bet that every player on the team played in the EL game last year. That's why we are good year after year.sonofsam wrote:

yea yea... heard it all before. Reno was not happy during that game because Big Red was getting BEAT by a team FAR LESS superior then they are... That game COULD have sent BR to the laughing stock of HS football if you lost it... Just be glad they didn't. It was much closer than Reno and all his ONE fingers can count.FairwoodKing wrote:

You totally took my post the opposite way. I mean somebody around here needs to step their game up and go down to Death Valley and play you.FairwoodKing wrote:

And to be fair, most other teams don't get 8 home games--if they did they'd make a lot more money. But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it'd be enough to pay a teacher in most cases. -
SQ_CraziesDidn't a decent number of starters not even dress for EL? And their starters were out BEFORE halftime? LOL, EL can claim a moral victory if they want but when I look at that score, I still see an ass beating.

Sure, but we are not talking OVAC, we are talking OHIO... OR how bout ALL of the US of A? Big Red is that good right? I mean thats all we hear is how good they are and about how they dominate the OVAC and all the teams thay schedule to get to the play-off that so called prepare them.... I got a suggestion... Take away Reno. See what you got then. He's not gonna last forever and when that happens, welcome to today's football world. Might be the first time your levies don't pass because Reno won't be there to walk every resident of 720/730 N. 7th street to the bus that takes them to the polls. Not to mention 815 N. 6th... They take the levy bus too? Can they write their name without help? I know the answer to that question and it funny to hear the BR nation try to act like badarses.FairwoodKing wrote:Last year Big Red beat Massillon, Poland, Woodland Hills, and Dover. Now I know you're crazy. Last year we scheduled Woodland Hills when they won the WPIAL AAAA championship. We scheduled Massillon when they got to the state semi-finals in Div. I. We scheduled Inkster when they were state runner-up. This year we are scheduling Inkster again as well as defending state runner-up Brooke. And what about Ursuline? They never have a down year.sonofsam wrote:

Big Red has gone 68-4 over the past five years. All four losses were to teams that was either their respective state championship or state runner-up. We haven't lost to an inferior team for many years.
Let me also remind you that we were supposed to play Warren Harding, another respected Div. I team, this year but they cancelled out. We didn't drop them. -

Big Red football didn't start with Reno and it won't end with him. When he chooses to leave, we will find someone good to take his place. The program will continue to thrive.sonofsam wrote:

We don't need Reno to pass school levies. Again, we passed them long before Reno came into the picture and we will continue to pass them long after he's gone. When a town as poor as Steubenville can support its schools the way we do, no one-- and I mean NO ONE-- has the right to criticize. -
sonofsamYou don't know squat about me... But what you do know is that Big Red BARELY got by a team from Woodland Hills because they could not pass. If they could, then, well, the score would have been a disgrace for Big Red football. Macon getting hurt wasn't supposed to happen and when it did, MANY Big Red faithful bit their lips. Thank the mother above that your defense was able to stop a PURE running team that had NO hopes of passing the ball... Question, why not schedule them this year? Just a question? You had PLEANTY of open spots to reschedule, but you might have had to go there... So why not? You can do it once, but not twice?
-
sonofsamSavor the success.... It won't last forever. The past IS the past and no matter how many "eyes" you have in the locker room that fire everybody up, your time is coming... Welcome to reality.

Barely got by??? We shut them out! So what if they had been able to pass? Massillon could pass and we only gave up 3 points.sonofsam wrote: You don't know squat about me... If you knew anything at all about the WPIAL, you would know why we don't schedule those teams. They only have one opening each year to play OOC teams and that is in what Ohio plays as game 2. Last year's game was special because it was in the classic in Wheeling. Woodland Hills is sponsoring their own classic that week this year. A lot of good WPIAL teams are participating. I guess Big Red was not invited considering what we did to them last year.
Big Red is one of the smallest Div. III teams in Ohio, yet we are playing five Div. I teams this year. That's enough for any team our size. -

I know we're having a private convo about the same subject, but really, this story is old.sonofsam wrote: Macon getting hurt wasn't supposed to happen and when it did, MANY Big Red faithful bit their lips.
The only people who should be biting their lips are the people that talk shit on Big Red at the start of EVERY year. If you want to shut them up, or have the right to talk smack then schedule them and go beat them. They're freakin' high school kids just the like the ones on your team. -

Big Red won its first state championship in 1925 and we have had many great teams ever since. Yes, we have had a few down times, but we never stayed down.sonofsam wrote: Savor the success.... Don't worry about Big Red. We will do just fine. -

SQ_CraziesI just don't get how people want their program to be what Big Red's is, yet the only thing anyone wants to do is talk down on their program. They have a great history and tradition, and I'm sure it will continue. If you want to get to where they are then play them and beat them and take that spot from them. Until you do, all you're doing is running your mouth--or in this case, moving your fingers.
