Big Red breaking news.

Yes, that's true. The contract was signed, but I guess their league affiliation future was more important to them.

And they bailed on the Steel Valley, so what do you expect?

You're right. But I still think the Big Red people would have gotten more excited about playing Warren than playing at Morgantown. But that's water under the dam. Maybe the Morgantown series will prove to be better than I thought.

Your thinking was right the first time. Morgantown is junk.

The schedule is not made for the excitement of the fans. It's not made to win internet/bar arguments.

Yes, you're right, the schedule is primarily to gain computer points and to make money. But you have to admit that the school has been good to the fans. Last year we played three away games and the farthest was only 30 miles. And this year we have eight home games.

Last year we made Massillon look like junk, too, but they went all the way to the Div. I semi-final game. Woodland Hills looked like junk against us. They ended up by winning the AAAA WPIAL. Don't blame these teams for looking like junk when they play us.

Why do you continually argue with these guys about our record, our facilities, our schedule, our coaches, our anything? It is what it is, nothing short of remarkable. That is why others remain insanely jealous of Steubenville Big Red.

    Confusion?
    It's not jealousy!
    It is the "Arrogance"!
You have a good and traditional program.
Now with posters like the one you refer to, you get the so called haters.
    Wonder why!

I'm just defending my school against the haters. I will continue to do so.

posted in the other topic on why people hate other schools:

It is not that people hate the schools and the programs. I think some programs are top notch, but the the majority of the fans, are the so called over the top fans. They do not know when to stop.
As i have said before I can talk football all day with the best of fans but when they start saying wait till football , or what happened last year, just wait, we got another new kid from somewhere and they say it with a resounding (we are the best) actually mean when they say it. That is what I see. If it is a close game or a loss their is always an excuse. Our best kid was hurt, those refs were from out of town. Just accept it and move on to the next week. You are not going to change history. Do not sit there and Lie to my face and tell me there is no recruiting going on , Don't tell me you don't get any breaks on your home field, Don't tell the news media does not cover your school the same as the others. That is the perception that I have on why people hate schools.

No jealousy at all... Its 100% fan arrogance and people attempting to place themselves on a higher shelf just because they wish to support Big Red. I'm sorry, but there really are people out there who wish them luck as an Ohio Valley team and thats it. Its so hard for some arrogant people to believe that there are fans out there of other schools that are just as crazy about their own teams. The only issue is that for some reason, if your a Big Red fan, you automatically know more than everyone else, you know why every team in the state fears playing you, and you have the best of everything. Thats what ticks people off so bad, there are other people in this state as well as others just as crazy about their team as you all are. We are not jealous, we do not envy you... If thats how you want to feel because in some way it makes you feel better as a Big Red supporter then thats your cup of soup. But while the Big Red nation is constantly putting down other schools and bragging about success, two things are certain... One, we will ALL hear about it, and TWO, we just don't give a damn because the sun will once again come up tomorrow and we will continue to support our teams.

    Fairwood,

I agree... You did make Massillon look like junk. Woodland Hills, not so much. If they had anything that remotely looked like a passing game, it could have spelled trouble. If your on this kick about looking like junk, what did Inkster do to you even after the home-cooking failed? Reality is sometimes hard to swallow when you talk to much.
  • ManO'War
The blind jealousy/hate continues! Do you people actually read what you write?? It makes you look really bad.

And how come all these so called fans of other teams seem to attend every Big Red game? Shouldn't they be at their games? But how else would they be able to make comments about game circumstances if they weren't there?? Or is this the old "i heard from so and so"??

If any other local team had half the success that Big Red has had, we would hear about it non stop.

I was just joking when I said we made Massillon and Woodland Hills look like junk. They were both very good teams. We just happened to be better on those days. And Inkster did not make us look like junk. They had to rally with less than a minute to play to pull it out. And if we get so much home cookin', then explain how we got 17 penalties when we played Creek last year.

I hope your not implying that I was at Big Red games last year? I didn't attend a single game. However, I was at all the Creek games except 1 because of work.

So what makes me look really bad? The fact that I won't bow down to you or anyone else when you accuse people of being jealous? I'm not here to count how many people read what I have to say, I am here to talk about something I love which is Indian Creek football... The issue is when people start poking, I will poke back. Its really an easy fix, just go play in your own yard and you will never have to read my posts! I know a few people that read my posts though, because you along with the others are so quick to respond and call me jealous. Is that the final word for everything that is not Big Red???

As far as knowing what goes on at the games, I know a good few Big Red alums that talk about the games every weekend... I guess since my info is so outrageous, Big Red also graduates liars. We have jealous people and Big Red has liars. Not sure what point you are trying to prove? Is the mountain that you sit on not high enough or something? I don't get it...

How could you comment on Inkster officiating if you were not there? Obviously you, and others that make those comments weren't, because most of their penaties were false starts..pretty hard to miss. So it makes you look foolish for chiming in.

I have all the records and stats of every Big Red game ever played, and I can tell you that Big Red gets more penalties at home than their opponents in every year Reno has been there.
Therefore anyone who repeats that garbage that Big Red gets "home cooking" is just a jealous hater trying to find one more reason to discredit Big Red's success.

So what "stat" went down for the '87 game?

Not jealous... I applaud you on your success, and If you stay out of my back yard, I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to stay out of yours. Really don't care who transferred into BR this year, I am thinking about Creek's players and the hard work they have been putting in the weight room. Sorry to burst your bubble, but BR ain't my thing.

If I may, I would like to remind Sonofsam that the quarterback from Woodland Hills had one of the best passing ratings in the WPIAL.
The kid had absolutely no time to throw most of his passes in the Big Red game. He threw off his back foot most of the game due to that pass rush. Steubenville caught this team early in the season. Had this game been played later in the year, the win could have gone the other way.
This was a credit to Steubenville playing a superb game on defense. While the game was won, it proved costly in injuries. Steubenville just does not have the depth to play at this level (Woodland Hills) for an entire season. I know it; Reno knows it and it is about time some fans accept that fact.
We are low division three in numbers and due to the program, we can hang with a lot of higher division teams. But a few injuries at the wrong time in our schedule, can wreak havoc with our season. ( Remember Mooney losing their Q.B. twice in the last few years and losing the state championship).
So, for some of the posters on these message boards, let's enjoy the team for what they are; not what you think they are.
    Cheers

I can accept that... I will also agree with you. The nice thing about this post is that you did not once mention how Big Red can defeat the world, and how jealous everyone is of that fact. Nice post and I agree.

What exciting things are happening in Steubenville these days? The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of selling my house here in Seattle and moving back home. At least I would be kept busy on Friday evenings in the fall.
