Since when has Big Red ever "come pleading to the valley for a game?" As far as other teams wanting to play at home, let me remind you that in recent years we have scheduled Wheeling Park, Buckeye Local, East Liverpool, and Brooke home and home. Let me also remind you that it was Creek's idea to play their home games against us in Harding Stadium for a bigger payout. We were also scheduled to play at Edison until that woeful series was cancelled by mutual consent.
Except for the 2007 game against Creek, playing local teams has not drawn sell-outs in Harding Stadium. We got a bigger crowd against Poland last year than we did against Creek. Channel 9 didn't even show the Creek game on Game of the Week, but they did show our game against Massillon.
Big Red proves every year that we can get a good schedule without involving many local teams. I foresee that when we get into the ECOL, we will not play any OVAC teams. We will want to reserve our home and home series with conference opponents and with teams like Massillon that mean something. -

MANAZEidk if thats why Big Red didn't come to Creek but isn't that why Creek can not have playoff games because students have to cross a road?
-

Our visitor locker room is the issue. Its to far from the field of play and inadequate. If we were to build a field house, we would be legit.MANAZE wrote: idk if thats why Big Red didn't come to Creek but isn't that why Creek can not have playoff games because students have to cross a road? -
homefield
That game won't even be close because inkster lost their quarterback and they have no one else on the team to compete with big red.snyds113 wrote: Well one thing at least can be put to rest.that is the notion that whoever beats big red Reno will not play them again.it has been said a million times.Bring on Inkster. It will be a close game i believe.
Way to try and hype this game before it starts. -
snyds113Excuse me but were you at this game.Sure gardener was a big part of their victory but Inkster is a very big and fast and physical team.
-
homefield
Yes i was and they lost a bunch of their starters after this season. When gardner was out of other games during the season because of being injured they could not move the ball down the field. He accounted for 27 touchdowns and almost 3000 yards.snyds113 wrote: Excuse me but were you at this game.Sure gardener was a big part of their victory but Inkster is a very big and fast and physical team. -
FairwoodKingBig Red also has some holes to fill, including at the quarterback position. This will be the first game for both teams. It will be interesting to see what happens.
-
FairwoodKingHow many starters do we have coming back from last year? I should know this, but I lost track.
-
Strapping Young LadI'm assuming Inkster RB is gone??!?!?!!? He was unstoppable in that game and a big part of their victory......
-
snyds113well seeing inkster is a contender most years i don't see a reason they won't field a descent team even without devon.
-
ManO'WarInkster is the "Glenville" of Detriot...they get all the best players from the city, and get new transfers every year. Which is why they got kicked out of their old conference.
To think they will not be competitive is naive. -
ManO'War
I've been on the internet defending all the baseless claims since JJ's started in Feb of 1999.GoChiefs wrote:
Which 'lies' would you be referring to? And correcting people has nothing to do with bragging and being modest.ManO'War wrote: That is because the same old lies are repeated over and over, and have to be corrected over and over.
THAT is what gets to be a little much.
It's the same old crap, and I get tired of "correcting" people, but if you don't, then the lies get repeated over and over (like they have), and people think they are "facts".
SOS is good at that. He "hears" things from so called "boosters" and then posts it on the internet as facts.
We even have a lot of our own fans buy into that kind of crap.
As for the IC game, like I said before, Big Red didn't NEED the game, therefore they can dictate the terms of the contract. If IC wanted to play, then come play. Big Red could have found a ton of teams to play, most of which would have given a better showing, during that week. Week one is usually not hard to fill, since most teams are not in their league play yet.
I never heard anyone bring up any issue about walking across a parking lot, that sounds pretty far fetched. Didn't our reserves, freshmen, and Harding play out there??? Wouldn't they have had to walk across the parking lot? It's not like the varsity would even go in the locker room, since they would dress at our Fieldhouse and ride the bus out in full gear. -
MANAZEits been that way for a long time people even some creek parents complain of the fact that a "crazy" person one day could target a player because they have to walk across the road before, halftime and after the games.
-
FairwoodKingI think the facts of the case are very simple: Creek wanted to reinstate the series and Big Red agreed. Creek wanted to play all the games in Harding Stadium and Big Red agreed. Creek then wanted to end the series and Big Red agreed.
So tell me again what Big Red did wrong -
MANAZEthey really didn't do anything "wrong". its over lets move on.
-
homefieldI may not agree with all the big red fans on how great their team is and that they think they are the best team in the country but i don't think indian creek has any business playing them either.Big red is on a whole different level when compared to creek and that is nothing to be ashamed of for indian creek.Creek just needs to concentrate on trying to win 7 or 8 games a year so they can build some confidence in their program and bring back the pride in the community that was there years ago. Maybe in about 5 or 6 yrs if they are winning more than 6 games a year every year in the buckeye 8 then they should try and schedule big red again.

sonofsamIts ok... MoW thinks he is something that resembles a "living legend" in the Big Red universe. Sure some of my info may have been proven wrong, but I am not opposed to that. I do know a few people close to the program, but getting CORRECT info out of a Big Red supporter is like playing with fire... You know half the time you are going to get burned because of the amount or liars involved.
Its ok MoW, you have a nice website, and thats about it. -

Sometimes Big Red fans are misinformed, but we are not liars. Don't make comments like that.sonofsam wrote: Its ok... Don't tell me what I can or cannot say... MoW has already verified that some of the things I brought up were not accurate and they came straight from the "HORSES" mouth...FairwoodKing wrote:

ferflogGuys, please stop. I am going to take away recess from both of you today.
sonofsam:
For my money, manowar is somewhat of a "living legend". For him to put as much time as he does into his website and become that knowledgeable about the history and content of his high school sports teams is, indeed, admirable. I have an enormous amount of respect for what he does and his love for Steubenville Big Red. Many of us share that same love, and we are blessed to have him on our "team". Perhaps you can become an "IC living legend". If that is your goal, have at it. But MOW is my man, and I (and most Stubbers) stand right behind him.
ROLL RED ROLL!!! -
Con_AlmaStubbers? That would sound like stuhbers, no? The second consonant "b" makes the "u" a short sound.
To get the sound of oo or a long "u" you might consider dropping one of the "b"s or putting an "e" before the "u".
Example: Stubers or Steubbers
jk. It was my way of making fun of how people for some reason nit pick on everything related to the Big Red. They never boo a bum do they?
