My mother always taught me that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything. I'm going to adhere to that with you, but, truly, I am having a hard time.
I would just like to know why you have so much hatred in your heart?? It is not good for you. -

I agree with your words... But also I believe that if you are hit, turn your cheek... Which I did. I supported Big Red when they reached the play-offs as a valley fan, only to be mocked, laughed at and made fun of... F*** Big Red, you can only be pushed so far before you begin to push back... Ask Manaze. They pushed him too. Hatred isn't born from lack of respect... Its born from ignorance.ferflog wrote: sonofsam:

Words to live by... This should be taught to Big Red fans in 1st grade.ferflog wrote: sonofsam:My mother always taught me that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything. I'm going to adhere to that with you, but, truly, I am having a hard time. -

Yea, thanks for nothing :@MANAZE wrote: I love how Big Red raped T-town and Wellsville out of the Thursday night game. -
captvernManaze hated Big Red long before, its not something that just happened. He has hated them his whole life. One reason why people dont like Big Red is because they are jealous. If any of these people saw how much time and effort the staff and players put into this nobody would hate on them.
Some people get upset with Big Red's fans. I understand that. That is fine. However to bad mouth the kids, on any team(ie. creek, liverpool, ect) is wrong. They are kids.
As far as the Thursday night game. I believe that they both started around the same time. Toronto vs Wellsville and Big Red Vs Ryan. -
ManO'War
I just checked Joe Eitel, and in 2002 Big Red opened on Thursday night vs Lakeside. Wellsville and Toronto both opened on Friday night. Like I said, get YOUR facts straight.captvern wrote: Manaze hated Big Red long before, its not something that just happened. He has hated them his whole life. snyds113The reasons for big Red is not playing E.L. is not from any reasons above. The reason is Reno wanted Brooke on the schedule.E.L. did not want to move there game or couldn't.Whichever the case those are the reasons.Good day sir.

captvernThe Thursday games started in the mid to late 90's

pepperpotTwo away games ? Can they handle that ?
-
ManO'WarFrom what I understand is that EL was dropping us next year anyways, so we requested to move the game, they either couldn't o didn't want to, so they are off.

We play all those home games because we can. Any other team would do the same if it could.pepperpot wrote: Two away games ? Can they handle that ? -

Any other team could do the same..if they felt like scheduling 7 out of state teams.FairwoodKing wrote: We play all those home games because we can. Any other team would do the same if it could. -

1 playoff appearance in 15+ years playing Buckeye 8 sched.....Impressive.sonofsam wrote: 3 teams in-state... Impressive! -
skankWhy do so many people freak out about Steubenvilles schedule and how many home games they play? They are a proven program, I could see if they dodged teams or if they constantly lost their first round playoff game, but they don't and they don't.

Big Red doesn't "feel" like scheduling seven out-of-state teams. We have no choice. We were supposed to play Warren Harding, a major Div. I team, this year. They backed out on us, we didn't back out on them. We had to replace them with Morgantown, a Div. I team that won their state championship as recently as 2005 and 2006.GoChiefs wrote:

We have Brooke and Inkster on our schedule. They both made it to the state final game last year. Buffalo St. Joe's was ranked as the number one team in New York in 2005 despite their loss to us. The year we started playing O'Hara, they brought a 26-game winning streak to Harding Stadium.
In sum, the non-Ohio teams we play are tough. There is nothing wrong with playing them. -
SQ_CraziesThere are too many proud football communities around here for all of them to be little wimps and not step up and play Big Red.

You do have a choice. Play away games..and more Ohio teams will play you. I don't care who you schedule or how many games you play at home..if you can do it..great. I'm not one of the ones that hate on Big Red for that..doesn't matter to me at all. But don't act like it's just because everyone in Ohio is afraid to play you.FairwoodKing wrote: Big Red doesn't "feel" like scheduling seven out-of-state teams. We have no choice. Exactly!SQ_Crazies wrote: There are too many proud football communities around here for all of them to be little wimps and not step up and play Big Red. -
SQ_CraziesI mean as far as I'm concerned, if I were Salem's AD I would have done everything I could to get a game with Big Red. And Salem may be better this year than they were last year--which was the best season in school history. So I would be surprised if Big Red wouldn't play them, potentially play a team you'll meet in the playoffs and it's not like Salem is going to have a typical 2-8 season and not be worth their time. But I guess we're not that bold.
I think it's ridiculous that Big Red and Mooney don't play every year. -

I agree, I agree. Get on the bus and schedule some away games.GoChiefs wrote:

I never bought into the argument that big teams are afraid to play us until it happened with Warren Harding. They scheduled us for 2010 and 2011 and then dropped us. Apparently their superintendent didn't want a loss to a smaller school.GoChiefs wrote:

As far as playing away games, in the past few years we have scheduled Watterson, Massillon, Morgantown, Ursuline, Woodland Hills, and Poland on the road. When we join the ECOL, we will play teams like Dover, New Philadelphia, Zanesville, and Marietta home and home.
Our schedule has satisfied Reno and Fred as well as the fans. What more could you want? -

And if you buy into that argument now..well..that would be quite idiotic.FairwoodKing wrote: I never bought into the argument that big teams are afraid to play us until it happened with Warren Harding.
Apparently..as in..you don't really know..but this is what you've heard. Got it. I HIGHLY doubt Warren Harding dropped Big Red b/c they were 'afraid of losing to a smaller team'. Especially when that smaller school is Big Red. Everyone knows their reputation. Everyone knows Big Red is a great program year in and year out. Nobody is going to be 'ashamed' to have an 'L' in the loss column by Big Red.FairwoodKing wrote: Apparently their superintendent didn't want a loss to a smaller school.
So you can name 6 road games that you've scheduled in the past FEW years? 6? Really? LOLFairwoodKing wrote: As far as playing away games, in the past few years we have scheduled Watterson, Massillon, Morgantown, Ursuline, Woodland Hills, and Poland on the road.
For you to quit acting like the rest of Ohio is afraid to play Big Red..that would be a great start.FairwoodKing wrote: What more could you want? -
SQ_CraziesYeah, there is no way Harding dropped you because they were scared.
I'm sure there was another, very logical reason. They have issues up there that most of us can't relate with.

I'm just passing on what the Harding posters said. They blamed their superintendent for chickening out. I used the word "apparently" because I cannot prove what I am saying even though I got the info from people who should know.GoChiefs wrote:

I could name a lot more: Canton Central Catholic, Brooke, East Liverpool, Wheeling Park, etc. I just chose not to.So you can name 6 road games that you've scheduled in the past FEW years? 6? Really? LOL

Canton CC, Watterson, Poland and some others dropped us after we kept beating them. We did not drop these teams. This is why we don't play more teams from Ohio. For you to quit acting like the rest of Ohio is afraid to play Big Red..that would be a great start.
