Nothing quick about it when the QB has to run to the sidelines before every darn play1_beast;1310553 wrote:Also no "quicks" allowing your playmaker a chance to make something happen. With the screen/bubble screen, the defense has too much time to adjust and move to the ball.
Just thinking out loud in Apple Creek
Since the QB is designated the on field leader of the team..............maybe just once allow him to make a decision on his own.
How many delay of game penalty's did we have or timeouts were wasted because of this ?
Not to mention the extra mileage on the QB. -
MOUNTAINBEARAnd sir that is a great question- that is a good point for X's and O's. But the quarterbacks we have had recently are nowhere good enough to call offensive plays. NO WAY!Hunter86;1310574 wrote:Nothing quick about it when the QB has to run to the sidelines before every darn play

Jmar25What are you banking??? That he goes or that he has some follow him if he goes? FYI... The principal wanted someone who would be in the building.... Schrock would not...

BAD_NEWS_BEARI’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who thinks the play calling seems poor. Over the last 5 years I can think of 6 games that were lost or the Bears got cut off at the knees because we threw an interception inside the 10 yd. line after we ran the ball down the field. The intercepted passes inside the 10 have all been thrown to the middle instead of a corner where we either catch it or the ball goes out of bounds. They did it again last week, but B. Stanley caught it for a TD. Face it though, Chippewa’s defense wasn’t the best. The other thing is that we had a left handed QB this year and the coaches kept calling passes where he rolled out to his right and had to throw against his body, something a much better QB has a hard time doing. I can remember 3 passes in the game last week where we did that and all the passes came up short. A better defense would probably have intercepted at least one of those passes.
Furthermore, look at the history over the last 3 years. Three years ago Casto was supposed to be the QB but got hurt in a scrimmage or practice. Z started B. Stanley at QB against Tusky and it was a disaster. Nothing changed and we lost badly to Ridgewood the following game. Next came Triway and Casto was back. This by far was the best game the team played all year, I think we only lost by 7. Casto threw for over 300 yds. However, in that game Stanley and Casto shared time at QB, and it was no surprise to anyone, especially Triway, that if Casto was on the field we were probably going to pass and if Stanley was on the field he would run or hand off to Stausbaugh. Casto, a senior, never saw the field again after that game. I never felt more sorry for a kid, he got shafted big time.
So, after a 1 – 9 season nothing changed. We had a good sized line last year and won 6 games in spite of Z’s coaching. But, what if Z had put in another QB (Constable comes to mind) & ran a power I with Stanley in the backfield? B. Stanley and B. Miller were the best 2 runners on the field. If Stausbaugh would have been moved to tightend, C. Troyer at FB, and B. Stanley at HB, what would have happened? We’ll never know, but just think about it. Constable could throw the ball much better than Stanley and was certainly capable of handing the ball off. Z didn’t like C. Troyer because he told Z at senior camp that his goal was to get more tackles than Z for a single season. Troyer had the most tackles in the county as a junior, but was only given split time on defense his senior year and played offensive line after being a FB the year before. Explain that one.
Those of you who say Z doesn’t relate to the kids are right. Those of you who don’t believe it haven’t had a kid play for him or your kid has played for him and is one of his chosen athletes. The boys could never have fun. I’m guessing most of you played HS football. If you did, I’ll bet you played practical jokes on each other. (Boys being boys). Z squelches that fun. Let’s face it, most of these kids aren’t going to play football past HS. So if you take the fun away, why play? It’s not that the kids don’t want to win or aren’t giving 100%. Over the last 3 years after virtually every loss Z makes the same excuses: the team is young or the team didn’t execute the plays. I say the team did execute the plays – the plays just flat out sucked. And often kids give 100% and still lose. Desire is not the issue here. And think about this year. Again, B. Stanley was a hell of a runner, how many times did he get the ball?
IMHO, Z misses the good old days when he played HS football and all the glory of the past. Yes, he played for Akron, but had a lack luster career there. He only started 16 games at FB and ran for 98-99 yds total. He did a little better receiving the ball. However, I don’t believe there were a lot of reporters waiting to talk to him after the games. Do I think Z wants to win games? You bet I do, but I think it’s more to boost his own ego than for the kids. In most professions, you are not judged on what you did yesterday, but what you’ve done today. In Z’s case that’s just not the way it is. There are too many people that remember him from HS and he’ll survive on that alone.
Anyway, if Z stays at Waynedale, which I suspect he will, there will be a lot of happy people. It’s just that they all live in Jeromesville, West Salem, Creston, Smithville, Rittman, Doylestown, and Dalton. -

I know its so nice to have someone on here from Waynedale that has all their teeth and isn't illiterate. On top of that, someone who makes some points and has logical and resonable information to back up their opinion. You should try it sometime even though I don't think you are capable.eyes r burning;1310856 wrote:Good golly, JMAR he got all the words spelled right, what do you think about that, so it's just not us dumb@#@ country hicks that see the problem, hope you don't run and hide like you buddy wclfan (is he on vacation or something)? or did his wife ban him fromn the computer?

MOUNTAINBEARjmar- help me understand here, why is this coach Z thing got you so defensive? Up in arms so to speak? I am no longer part of the bashing crowd. But you have to admit he has made some grievous errors. Past couple seasons not good and future not looking much brighter. So really come on level here and help us understand why the coach has your loyalty. Just wondering here thats all. No personal attack. You opened my eyes earlier, so help me out again.Jmar25;1310996 wrote:I know its so nice to have someone on here from Waynedale that has all their teeth and isn't illiterate.
