Waynedale Football?

hunter, are you kidding? listen most on here are not fans of coach z. but the malarchy you just wrote is borderline embarassing. for your info coach did sit down with this senior and junior class and did alot of those things. but talent rich as you put it, NOT HARDLY! Problems are plentyful, this program is still one of the best small school programs around. The changes that need to be made are far more reaching then just the head ball coach. Read some of my earlier post, I was one of those guys screaming to get rid of the "monkey in the headset" but after taking a breath and watching just how bad this is and listening and thinking........... he is wayndale proud just like the rest of us.... he is a winner just like the rest of us who came up thru this program....he is still a young coach as far as coaching goes......I ask where are all the big farm kids? there are none. where are all the big strong fast kids, there are none. where are all the hell raisers that loved to play football and run over people, there are none. So just so you get me here I think that the young man has made some grave mistakes, have not alot of us? but firing that young man at this time I hate to agree might make things worse. the pee wee program is part of the problem, parents are part of the problem, fans and alumni like us are part of the problem, and yes coaching in its present form, is part of it. but what about kids who have an ENTITLEMENT mentallity, not hard work attitude, not a bad attitude, but a positive bad attitude. yea oxymoron. but the bad attitude should be directed at the other team, not your head coach or the kid playing next to you. I could go on all nite.

Sure you had a couple to many!!

Well it takes poor kids, rich kids, nerds and preppies, and even a couple good hell raising kids that the only reason they stay in school is football, slow kids, fast kids, big strong farm kids, even a team comedian or jokester. And a coaching staff that can pull all that together. WAYNEDALE FOOTBALL!

WE ARE THERE MAN, just get use to it, probably going to get a little worse but never better, took in my last Waynedale game to see if history would be made(it was) and I seen a coach make a fool of himself not only on the feild but off it! This was a team that got out coached 10 straight games, if you want to put that on the asst. as Jamr does he better be recuiting some more coaches. Pretty sure the higher ups better ask the asst. of thier thoughts on this subject. What do you think Jamr???

Sorry Jamr, Forgot your done, when everthing you say is exactlly what everyone else is saying. Can't relate, not a X's an O's guy, can"t trust his asst. coaches!!! WE GET IT, that's all we have been saying. Now run off and kiss some ____!

cant get any worse? oh but wait, it sure could. it could take us 45 yrs to get there. but if he goes 0-10 again or even 1-9 or even 2-8. then he should be done.

No he should never be done! He is teaching the boys to be better men, a lot of other school have that also in coach, but lets not go there. We have a gret guy leading the program, that's all we should ask for, never mind the high school boys that have gave up thier dream of playing high school football because they don't fit with this coach. I GET IT!! We are lower then the chps and ritt ever was. WE GOT HAMMERED AT HOME, by both of these programs!!!! Set back and tell me we didn't have the kids! OUT COACHED PERIOD !!!!

Jmar25;1310021 wrote:I might buy into what you're saying more but then you bring out the secret society comments... and now the lynch mob is out to get him and there is this giant underground movement to remove Z. Then my favorite "stir the pot" moment when you say... more to come... If that isn't stirring the pot... I don't know what is. It's tough to take your comments seriously when you talk conspiracy theories and leave us on a cliff hanger ending on your very first two posts.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. These things sound like excuses when you talk about kids not coming out and not wanting to play for this coach ect... excuses. Had those kids when I played and back when Beast played ect... guess what... if that is how they are going to act what in the heck do you think they are going to when the going gets tough? (I know... cliche) Answer is you probably can't rely on those types of kids anyway to help your team.

I will listen to those that want to say he isn't doing well from a play call point or from the x's and o's. That's fine. He platooned one year and I know a lot of people didn't like that... fine...I will even listen to those that say his personality isn't right as long as it doesn't come off as a whiny, spiteful, mean, and in a girly tone of a comment (Havin fun puts it into a way that has none of those tones and to boot is constructive) By the way, Kevin Maltarich is very similar to Z in his personality....

But how you, eyes, and ghost put things.... it comes off as bitter people who just don't like the guy and want him out. The guy has had a couple rough years. Get over it. It's small school football. It comes in cycles and honestly... the last two years have been talent related... This year they never had a chance at 10-0. They had some talent just not enough where it counts (up front). I thought 5-5 but when you come up short in tight games and start league play with the monsters... its easy to fall off and not care and go 0-10. The troubling part to me is you're going to get more of the same despite the coach if some kids don't start to grow... Urban Meyer himself couldn't get it done this year and would need some "recruits" from the area to succeed in the next year or two.

So go have fun with your lynch mob. have your secret meetings. start up a petition to have him removed. go to the board meeting and state your case. That's fine. I'm sure many of you guys who are the loudest complainers could have had a 7-3 season. I just ask that you guys are at least diligent in your research and work. Then throw your name into the hat to be the next coach. PLEASE!!! I BEG YOU TO BE THE NEW COACH!

I just pray we don't get Bill Dennis or someone similar because anyone with any sense will stay away. The only types that will want to coach at Waynedale after the way you guys act are only the bill dennis types. (of course you may like that because he beat us this year) Then lets see where this program heads if we are going to get rid of a coach for the wrong reasons. I can assure its nowhere I want to see this program go and a place where I want to send my kids.
Do you have a Football upside to this coach?

Here that MOUNTAINBEAR, just keep voicing your opinion, it's all we got! The insiders will play the games, but sure the numbers next year will draw thier will open some eyes, Will never recover from this, so just keep him!! Great guy!!

    MOUNTAINBEAR:

Since when is it malarkey to actually listen to your assistant coaches?

And saying we have no talent is just not right..........we don't have huge fast hell-raising farm kids, but there are athletes there if you choose to use them right.

I doubt that any kid who was out for football this year really wants his legacy to be that he played for the worst team Waynedale ever had.

kids were promised playing time in certain positions, but didn't get the reps time at all or were passed over for underclassmen.

And then there was the sideline & time out screaming.............I know that would really make me want to do my best...........or wear earplugs !

    Stirring the pot...........Yep !

Just standing up for some good kids who played hard & deserve better !

Congrats... you got me to post on here again.

please for the love of god... learn to read. Then learn to spell. You're an embarrassment to public education system.... you're an embarrassment to Waynedale or whatever high school you attended.

If you go back through all the things I've said in both forums you will never see me say he can't relate to kids. If you could read you know that I said I will listen to those arguments from people . It plays a part. I won't listen to idiots like you who use the argument as an excuse for kids not coming out. It is probably true that this is the reason for some but I bring up the point that those types of personalities are not the ones you can rely on when you need toughness to gut out a win. When talking wins and losses, those kids don't matter. From a humanitarian level and understanding the condition our school is in and the shape of many of our kids, I would like to see those kids come out and have a chance to stay out of trouble and get off the couch. So the next time you make that argument.... please don't bring it back to winning football games unless you know for a fact there is a 220 lbs of stud walking through the hallway that could help that line that refuses to play because of Z.

I also said I would listen to people saying he isn't an X and O guy or bad at calling plays. I have never said I felt that way. I'm not close enough to the situation to know if he is or isn't. I'm relying on those closer to the situation than I and that I can trust. People like Beast. My friends I played football with attending the games. Friends who are assistant coaches at schools playing Waynedale. Friends who are coaching at Wayn

On the assistant coach area I said if I was in his position, I'd go back and look at the film and see if the information I was getting from the booth was good information. I never said he was getting bad information. If I were in his shoes, I'd make sure to double check EVERYTHING. I've been told that they start to get somethings going... then go away from what is working. Why is that? Bad info? difference in opinion? Maybe it's Z just being stubborn? I don't know. Personally I feel like that if you are changing from what is working more than just a couple plays here and there... then that change comes from the information you gather.

Does that help you or do I need to spell it out more for you?

Hunter86, I understand what you are saying but as Mountain has pointed out. He has done many of those things and I don't know how realistic some of those things are. (assistant coaches... You work for a public school. The employees of the district get first consideration. You better have a lot of teaching jobs or pray none of the staff wants to come back or you will be stuck with what you have unless you convince a lot of your guys to become volunteers. God only knows the problems this could create.)

Can you come up with anymore reasons way this program is in the shape it is. No talent, no leadership, lazy kids, parents and the best one BAD INFO FROM ASST.COACHES give me break, from what I hear there are some good young coaches that the boys respect and believe in and that's where it starts until you learn how to gain respect you will always fail. You can try to demand respect, but it doesn't work that way.

I SAID SOMEONE IS GOING AWAY FROM WHAT WORKS! I EVEN SAID IT COULD BE Z BEING STUBBORN! NOT NECESSARILY BAD INFO

I was told he doesn't call everything on both sides. He has input into the calls though. That is how it traditionally works with every team. Once again... I would go back... look at the tape. If I made the boo-boo. correct it. I would make sure my information was correct. If it wasn't correct then I need to look at where I got the information and why it was thought to be that one way. (man coverage vs 3 deep vs whatever)

Thank you for spell checking! I appreciate it.

    A few thoughts to ponder.

How many games were winnable at halftime, only to be out coached/outplayed in the 2nd half.

How many carries did B Stanley/J Strasbaugh have as opposed to Weaver/ R. Stanley?

Why with a suspect line did we not run any iso's or utilize our 2 180lb rb's in tandem?

How many times did the rushing game have (some) momentum, only to evacdate the run in lieu of the pass.

How many touches did your seniors Mcphern/Milner get?

Why do you attempt to run short side?

Why do you pass inside the 10 yard line AFTER you just ran the ball 60-70 yards down someones throat?

Im not a football minded person, these are just a few things I'm curious about.

    Curious in Apple Creek

"Why with a suspect line did we not run any iso's or utilize our 2 180lb rb's in tandem?"
Never understood why we did not utilize Stanley and Strausbaugh together in the backfield all year?? Great question!

"Why do you pass inside the 10 yard line AFTER you just ran the ball 60-70 yards down someones throat?"
Have lost a game each year because of this. Danville, Dalton and Hillsdale. Again, great question.

"Why do you attempt to run short side?"
Best question. This would make sense if you split your plays to the wide and short side of the field to throw the defense off. Waynedale NEVER runs to the wide side of the field. It makes zero sense. I would appreciate one logical argument why we do this???

    1) My guess would be on an Iso play it is Big on Big upfront and if you don't have the horses then its all on the running back to make the yardage. It is not a quick hitting play like the dive play which has a similar blocking scheme. That could be the thought. I don't know. It wouldn't hurt to try it though.

    2) No idea
    3) No idea
  • 1_beast
Also no "quicks" allowing your playmaker a chance to make something happen. With the screen/bubble screen, the defense has too much time to adjust and move to the ball.

Just thinking out loud in Apple Creek
  • MOUNTAINBEAR
just go back alittle, you will see. I am not anti-kid-nor anti parent. And I also have concerns over Z and that staff. You dont PROMISE kids playing time. THEY EARN IT!!!! And anyone who says that they have never played for a hardassed coach, a screamer, a yeller, a cusser, (NO SPELL CHECK) is not being honest. because every staff has that one hardnosed coach and one soft nosed coach. Ive said, he or they have made grave mistakes. May not be able to recover. So to those saying its Society- NO! society different in Creston then Apple Creek? Culture-No! Jeromesville has different culture then Apple Creek? But the argument that its low talent is valid, the argument thats its parents- is valid. Coaching or coaches- is valid. I could go on till Sunday church. Parents are not going to sell their homes and move to Creston. So it eventually falls back on Z and the AD to take right steps. So we'll see.
