Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

Red Rider NationWill this coach work in the offseason to run an offense that works? If he doesnt the result will be the exact same. If the result is the exact same what will you say then about coach? I see nothing changing in this program over the next 2-3 years. My opinion of course!

I hate to hear that!! Hope all is well for him.RedRider1;1306036 wrote:Thoughts & prayers for Joel Zook..possible serious knee injury. Could impact basketball & track season. One of the few bright spots on the field for us tonight.
1-9 sucks. Hope to not see that again for another 40 years. -

Some tweaks are needed if we're to properly use our returning talent next year.
That and dedication from underclassmen. If 1-9 can't motivate kids to put in the work, then it will be a repeat. -

Zook was up and walking when he came off the bus last night. Injury doesn't seem to be as bad as it looked at first.RedRider1;1306036 wrote:Thoughts & prayers for Joel Zook..possible serious knee injury. Could impact basketball & track season. I have been fortunate to have had 2 boys play under Coach D. and while it's been one helluva good ride with him I was thoroughly disgusted with his call to take Kyle out of the game last night. From that point in doing so you could see how it effected the rest of the Seniors, they were more concerned about Kyles well being than they were about winning the game and IMO that was the biggest mistake I've ever seen Coach D. make on or off the football field...
Win or lose it was the LAST football game that most if not all of those Seniors will ever play and they deserved to be on that field. Even at the end when they were just basically running the clock out you would of thought that they would have allowed the Seniors to end the game as ONE but Coach D. just over looked that as well...The pain on those boys faces coming out of that last huddle of prayer was heartbreaking and something that I'm glad that I won't have to experience again.
Since 2006 the Riders and staff have given us a lifetime of good memories it just a damn shame to have one night one game cast such a huge shadow on all of it. -

I could help you out there with a few words. All I would be doing is bashing or throwing under the bus though. If you can't have this team ready to play in this game, when this is all they had to play for that speaks volumes. I said all year that they would only win one game so it doesn't surprise me they lost . I am however disappointed that they looked that bad in week 10.Red Rider;1305787 wrote:Down 27-0 with 4 minutes left in the half. Wow. I'm at a loss for words. -

Please be careful you will be called a basher or an idiot or worse if you don't watch what you say about Coach D. I agree with you however it was just another in the long line of things that he does that makes you scratch your head and wonder what is he thinking.Riderpower;1306251 wrote:Zook was up and walking when he came off the bus last night. Tweaks are you serious ? There needs to be an entire new offense of system put in place. The returning talent dictates run next year, will he put in a running offense or not. I don't think he will because I don't think he knows how. His offense is really simple you just lineup and throw the football. If they install a running offense he would actually have to teach the kids blocking schemes instead of just zone blocking everything. I really honestly believe this Coach just does not understand how or know how to put in a different offense. I've said it before this coach And his staff are not good at teaching Xs and Os.RedRider1;1306208 wrote:Some tweaks are needed if we're to properly use our returning talent next year.

Troll KingI told myself I would not get on here and rant and rave and complain about the coach, you all seen the game you all know everything there is to be said. Commonsense dictates when you cannot throw the ball for various reasons either your quarterbacks not a good passer or your wide receivers can't catch a cold run the ball. On a lighter note I was in Jackson County yesterday morning driving on Morris Tipton Memorial Highway thought that was really cool.

Red Rider NationSo I once again pose the question: Were these guys better in Week 10 then they were in Week 1? Most of you agreed that is a direct reflection of the coach. I wasnt there last night so I will let you all answer that. If not we need to take a serious look at who is leading this team! Talent or not it is the coach's job to improve on what he has. I am thinking these guys regressed week after week. Nobody has answered my other question either. If this team goes 1-9 or 0-10 the next 2 seasons what then will you say about Davault? Serious question.

jacoI do feel bad for the seniors who weren't able to get a "W" on the new turf this season.
The predicament is I just don't see the program having the "horses" for a few years. And I don't mean that as a slight, just honest third party assessment. I saw every team at every level play this year. A .500 record is going to be a struggle for the next 3-4 years no matter who is coaching when playing an OCC schedule. It's just demographics catching up. It's frustrating, but you are what your record says you are. This team was not an OCC contender being held back just because of its coach. Population is shrinking..traditional family names are moving on.. -

I would say their play was worse in week 10 than week 1 simply because they had nine weeks in between to improve and didn't.Red Rider Nation;1306321 wrote:So I once again pose the question: Were these guys better in Week 10 then they were in Week 1? I agree with most of what you just said . What do you Mean by traditional family names you mean the ones who start because of what their name is Or What, not sure I follow .jaco;1306346 wrote:I do feel bad for the seniors who weren't able to get a "W" on the new turf this season.

RedRider1TK,
Monheims, Brenners, Tillisons, Reussers. Gamers who know what RTR is about because their dads, uncles & cousins started it. Those kind of names are disappearing...
We've discussed this ad nauseum.....kids who play are there because they deserve to be there..not because of some non existent "politics." Work hard and make it impossible for the coaches to ignore....that's all the politics a kid needs.
Riderpower, I get what you're saying, and I do sympathize with Kyle. He's done nothing but do anything asked of him for the last 3 years but we scored our first TD with Bryce at QB and got down to the Wooster 5 on another drive. We moved the ball.
One of the things that's pretty universally agreed upon is that Davault plays the kids who give us the best shot to win. Sophomore or senior. I've read criticisms that he shows too much loyalty to seniors....so when he goes against that, he's criticized just the same.
Again, I get everything you mentioned about it being the last game for that group of seniors and all that, and aren't really defending the decision, just sort of a no-win situation for the coach. From a football perspective, you could argue it was the right call. But I get the other side of the coin too. -

I was just curious about his family name comment that's all. I agree that while I was very critical of Kyle as a quarterback, he deserved to finish his career on the football field with the rest of seniors. Especially since it was apparent that we would not win the game.RedRider1;1306445 wrote:TK,

When are people going to actually look at the talent level? What do you expect Orrville to be the next few years? The Middle School team did not win a game right? Well then I think you see there is a huge lack in talent coming. It is going to be ugly for a while...Red Rider Nation;1306321 wrote:So I once again pose the question: Were these guys better in Week 10 then they were in Week 1? Also about changing the offense, I don't see how that helps. Why, so we can run it three times and punt? That just means you loose 21-7 instead of 34-7. -

rrfan can you please spare me with all your damn excuses? Talent this and talent that! Nonsense!! THis team regressed this year. At this point they wouldnt beat waynedale! Bottom line is this coach didnt win with talent and he sure isnt gonna win with less talent. Not even a state championship appearance with all the talent he did have, He stayed off of your radar because he had talent. Now we are seeing the true head coach come out. Like Troll said this guy is not smart enough to put in a new offense. He is and always has been one dimensional because that's as far as his football IQ takes him. Stop accepting mediocrity in Orrville! -

It is not a "damn excuse"!!! You pick a coach at any level and plug them into this team and the record probably doesn't change. Orrville was very lucky to beat a Northwest team in week one. Oh by the way how many games did that Northwest team win??? I will wait for your answer. Talent is important.Red Rider Nation;1307027 wrote:rrfan can you please spare me with all your damn excuses? Really??? Was Clearfork more talented than Orrville? Was Wooster? Ummm according to your argument then we were more talented than Norwayne last year right? I mean after all they sent ZERO kids to a D1 school. So what was your excuse after the Bobcats beat us last year? We were less talented right? Like I said that argument is NONSENSE! -
CCRollyEven from an outsiders standpoint, it's painfully obviously that this was the least talented Orrville team that I've ever seen. Bill Walsh or Bill Belichick couldn't win with the talent you currently have, or what's coming. I know it sounds bad, but it's the god awful truth. Trust me, I've witnessed it at Wooster for periods of time also. The problem isn't the coach...
-
Red Rider NationAlso I am real confused! RR1 says we have talent coming back next year and you say we never had any to begin with? So which one of you are right?
-
RedRider1Talent does matter RRN, and you know it...spin it however you want. The OCC predictors looked pretty smart this year picking WH to win the league...why? Because of the 8 teams, they had the most returning TALENT.
It matters.
We won 8 last year...and 1 this year. What changed? -

Last I checked we are both allowed to have an opinion.Red Rider Nation;1307041 wrote:Also I am real confused! RR1 says we have talent coming back next year and you say we never had any to begin with? So which one of you are right? -
Old RiderThank goodness we can finally put this season to rest and move on.
As for changing the offense...I agree, we need to put in a system that works for the talent coming up and for what is already there...(the little that is there)! However, there really is SLIM PICKINGS for the next several years..SLIM! -
OQB
I'm not trying to speak for RR1, or RRfan, but I think what RR1 was trying to say is we have some good athletes (Short, Dyson, Inman, Summers, Brown) coming back next year and what RRfan is saying is that we don't have those elite Div 1 players who were in the talks or won the POY awards. The type of players that we had in Hiller, Robinson, Tillison, Simmons, Hoobler, Monheim, Turner, both Brenners etc....we just don't have those types of players coming up from jr high.Red Rider Nation;1307041 wrote:Also I am real confused! Again, not making excuses, just realizing and knowing the players in the system. -

Yes Wooster was more talented than us and yes so were the bobcats last year. Just because we sent a few kids to big schools the last couple of years does not mean we had a bunch of talent. If anything you need to give the coach some credit for helping these kids move on to College. Open your eyes man!Red Rider Nation;1307035 wrote:Really??? Was Clearfork more talented than Orrville?
