Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

Very nice article in today's paper about Zane Vierheller.
  • RedRider1
Top 10 for sure...but he may be #1 on someone elses list. No such thing as an official list.

I'd put him in that 2nd tier behind the 4 mentioned earlier. Great talent & a big part of that 98 title team.
  • rrfan
Thad would be high on that list for me. Not top 4, but I would listen to the argument of 5-8.

It is nearly impossible to rank in any particular order. The 4 mentioned are there because they all had multiple D1 offers and those that played and are playing are and have excelled even at the next level. Tillison came to my mind immediately as did Craig Pack from the late 70's. I'm sure there are more....Clay Tipton comes to mind. I think it is unfair to all of them to say this one is best or that one is best. It was fun watching and playing them we can all agree. And I know from my perspective....I couldn't be having more fun than watching one of them right now in the B1G. And this weekend I get to watch 2 of 'em! pretty unreal if you think about it....little town like ours.

Good point 5knots, I know that I got to watch all four of them (some on film) and they could single handedly change a game! When I was young I just remember the "Haley" erra because that was about the time I stopped playing tackle football by the bathrooms and actually started to watch the games! I thought those guys were GODS! And a little later on when coached by Bill Rice and Shoup in flag football at the boys club...... I remember those guys showing up on saturdays with the bruises and jersey rash.... They were modern day gladiators to me!!! I couldn't wait to get that uniform on and do battle! Thad was another good one. I got sent videos at college to keep up on John Haley, Brandon Bowman, Renauld, Tommy, Jarred, Bunk and a little later Thad, Demarkus and Dru! Man there were LOTS of good defensive players when I REALLY think about it! Some had the size and speed to get looks from the bigger schools and some didn't but man they could all lay wood!!! Just was thinking of something on the offensive side of the ball as well, If you look at Renauld and Bunk, They don't even find there way on the all time area lists but Renauld was a D1 prospect and so was Marcell. Makes for some interesting conversations on how many times thrown to.... bla bla bla, my mind is turning now! LOL
  • RedRider1
I'd bet both Bunk & Renauld are on the list...but records weren't kept very well in the 80's & 90's....amazingly.

Thanks for the compliment . Why resort to calling names when we are only speaking our opinions just like you. Don't worry I won't change my opinion.

Hard time arguing those two either, especially Haley.

TK: Maybe he wasn't talking about you.....maybe it was directed to the one who would say... perhaps and alas and such....and hope that we lose.

    That is not you.

    Go Riders!

Go Riders!!!! Beat Woo!!! There is nothing that would feel any better Saturday night. TK you can always have your opinion. You give insight as do most of the rest on herer. Everyone has a different perspective. It gets sticky when folks get frustrated and start getting down on kids who are trying their best. Not pointing fingers at anyone, just sayin.
I think this is the date per NCAA or B1G that reporters are allowed access to freshman. Here is Mason's first post practice interview....haha....enjoy. RTR

well said, thanks to some friendly advice from a former teacher of mine. I am trying to turn over a new bridge or leaf ,whatever trolls turn over. I will try to be less abrasive in my opinions from here on. Best of luck to Mason this week, hope Chase gets some pt if he's healthy.

We don't all have to agree to get along, but we can respect everyone's opinion. I think we're all Red Riders at heart and want the best for all Red Rider sports.

    Lets Go Big O!!

I do too. A town like this is lucky to have a guy in RR1 that takes his own time to do have a site like that!
  • 5knots
Add me to that list as well! It is awesome!
  • OQB
I agree, RR1 you do an outstanding job with the website and thank you for the work you put in for the alumni, current students, and Red Rider fans everywhere.
  • OQB
As for this week, nothing would make me happier than to extend our win streak over the Generals. I think that is one thing all of us can agree on.

    BEAT WOOSTER!

yeah, there were guys from my class with some better numbers defensively than some on that list.... Records were probably not kept that well then. Good point!

Lets go get some Saturday Riders!!!

I'm not even an Orrville fan, and I greatly appreciate RR1's web site and all his efforts. I wish more schools had people (and web sites/information) like Orrville, and like RR1 provides. Keep up the great work!
  • rrfan
Let the love fest continue because I am on the list too! RR1 is the man and a great site with countless hours of his time that he puts into it.
  • RedRider1
    You guys need to stop.

Appreciate the kind words. Truly humbling.

To thank you, there's a new post (FINALLY!) at the blog with all kinds of info.
