Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

You people really see an improved qb not one making same mistakes as last year. Just keep watching and I will keep stirring.

    it must be series62 Lol!

Nah, he's his own special brand of troll.

And he's entitled to his opinion. All that was asked is that we don't tear down & keep it respectful. It's ok to critique play but it's a fine line.

I cannot speak to that for reasons I already stated and the fact that I wasn't able to attend the game. My point(s) were general things that have had merit in the past. What is on the surface may or may not be what really happened.
It is very easy easy to pick at the QB. It comes with the position. I can remember many times in the past few years I was whining to my peeps about the QB staring down a receiver and then go home and watch Denard Robinson and the NFL QBs do the exact same thing. I have never played QB so I really do not know the progression they are to take, but if it is a quick route as the #1 progression you have to look at that man from the time you get the ball...just sayin...it sin't as easy at it probably looks from the sideline..haha
and again...you are certainly entitled to your voice.

As far as critiquing players......I think 5knots has a point....int's....wr may have run route wrong, can't blame QB if we aren't sure --we dont know all the defensive players responsibilities- just because the player was in the area does not mean it was his guy etc

About the only thing we can really critique is fumbles (hang on to the ball) playcalling if we don't agree with it,--- coming out flat, no emotion. ---And people calling the team the Red Raiders
  • OQB
All I can say is some of those quick throws are due to hot routes....in which the QB and wr have to be on the same page...if the formation has a guy in the slot position and the QB anticipates a blitz coming the QB should hit that hot route for an easy gain of 5-10 yards. All that is happening is the wr is replacing the backer that blitzed.

We are one game into the season and we are very young and inexperienced in some areas...with that you will have those growing pains of making sure everyone is on the same page. Before throwing people under the bus and critiquing 16/17 year old kids, let's let them work through the growing pains and enjoy watching red rider football!

I love the fact that all this talk is coming from a troll. It is also coming after a win. Do we need to get better? Yes in every position and every phase of the game. However, we did win and the kids heart (all the kids on the team) is in the right place. RTR. Just win baby...

Be prepared to see a lot of that from Triway. They also use rub routes a lot, in the trips set two of the receivers essentially pick for the 3rd running a quick in or out.

Good news on Zook today. No serious damage. Good news for a good kid.

That is great news. I heard a rumor on Friday that he had broken something. I'm glad this is not the case. You never want to see a kid get sidelined due to injury.

guys I'm not throwing anyone under a bus. I'm just saying I don't see any improvement after two years of playing the position. I will stop critiquing the qb. I'll just sit and watch and hope there is improvement.

Troll King said he didn't see the improvements that you Rider fans attest to. He wasn't disrespectful nor did he throw any 15-18 year old under the bus".

    Despite 5knots film review comments, it isn't necessary for a coach, fan, or spectator to recognize, i.e.;
    1-a broken play
2-he should have thrown it away in lieu of trying to force it
3-you continually stare down the wr, the defense will pick up on it
4-3 defenders in the area where the ball was thrown

Film review helps the coach "show" the qb where he was successful and made mistakes, as well as the team as a whole.

TK, be aware that if you speak your opinion about a Red Rider football game, especially about non-productive and/or negative plays, you will be insulted, offended and derided.

Yes Orrville won and it was a good game! They made some nice plays and a few poor plays and NW was not that good, although they kept it close for a while.

In my James Earl Jones voice, "This, is SERIES62!"

Thank you series, you are correct about not being able to speak your opinion on here, unless your in the clique.

Beware of the Fox 8 curse. Each time skyFox has came to Orrville the riders have lost. Just a thought.

I can't even remember the last time it was here...but apparently you have detailed memories of it?

    My comments were mis-interpreted....

I have no problem discussing games and talking about certain players/plays....I have done this many times in the past. I think we need to keep in mind Kyle is getting used to an entire new WR group.....he has been throwing to Brenner/Turner since he has started and now has to adjust to Johnson, Ritchie, Short, White, as well as a few more that do get playing time.....all of these receivers are new to Kyle this year and it will take time to get everyone on the same page and in sync on offense. Add in the young running backs that he has to get used to, a lot is going on with the offense. I do think Kyle has made progress in terms of his play and leadership....as we saw Friday night when we WON the game, which says a lot when you think about how much learning these young guys are doing and getting used to the varsity game. Kyle also has the added responsibility of mentoring Short to take the reigns next year at QB.

You never want to throw INT's or fumble handoffs, but I would expect it early on because everyone is learning to play together. Those int's and fumbled handoffs were a result of either not being on the same page and getting used to the running backs....which probably weren't expecting to play the entire game because Zook is the #1 RB. As the season progresses these will hopefully disappear, if not then that is when you should get frustrated and dissapointed.

It should be a great competitive football game tomorrow night and I can't wait to see the progress this team has made. After last week, I am very excited to see this TEAM grow together and get better each and every week.

apparently only a few people on here can have memories of games. rrider1 your not the only person who goes to and remembers games. I should have expected the type of response I received.
  • RedRider1
So name the games....becuase I sure don't remember, nor do I care. It can't be more than a couple of times...I'd hardly call that some sort of bad omen...if it's even accurate.

Ashland, Wooster, 100 year game and I believe a playoff game, possibly st.Vincent' . Could be wrong about last one, but there are three times I believe. I know this pales compared to what you post on here but I think it's interesting that when they show up Orrville loses. If one of your buddies posted this it would have been interesting.

could the fumbles be the result of running every single play out of the shotgun. If the qb lined up under center the handoffs might be better. The qb mistakes I see are the same ones I have seen for three years now. Apparently I'm the only one who sees these same mistakes every game. I think the defense had a big hand in winning last week.
