Maybe it could be called MoTown..or ...or ...LOL I won't say it...

I'm not complaining...and i don't think this happened as a result of people being upset at Serpentini.

Serpentini is a shrewd businessman. He didn't lose money on this deal...believe that.

beast is right...we have a beautiful field...one of only a handful of public schools our size in the state...and a beautiful new school campus that any town would be envious of....what's not to like?

You dont raise $700k in a community our size without involving businesses...and some are going to want exposure to go with their philanthropy.

The people that complained on facebook about it being called Serpentini Field are ones I dont see on the donor rolls....so their opinion is easily ignored. Easy to sit at a computer and punch holes in the hard work a committee has put forth....completely another thing to get involved.

This project was first rate...anyone who can stand at the 50 yard line of our stadium and say otherwise is nuts.

I am all for the new field, and I do not doubt Serpentini did not lose money on the deal. I just don't understand bowing to people on Facebook. If he paid the money he should call it what he wants.

I for one would like to know what series62 thinks of all this new field, name/rename and levy. Can someone get a hold of him and let him know his input is needed please?

    Solid point!

Miyagi how much time do you have in a day? You are able to stay up on info on here and facebook with Red Rider news? Impressive.

I wouldn't be surprised if other companies in this town start to think twice before they donate to this athletic program again.
..and I bet you haven't donated a dime!

OH NO! You had to go there...

It's official...field now called "Heartland Field at Red Rider Stadium"

    http://www.redridersportsblog.com/2012/08/turf-field-renamed-heartland-field-at.html

No positive or negative impact whatsoever....this was an agreement between Serpentini & Heartland. Nothing more. Serpentini's money is still part of the turf project. 100% positive all around.
  • BRF
Wow! Lots of big news in Orrville. We got a tank, too, to help protect the new field!

So happy to see the trolls having such a grand time on here.

It helps make it all really "special".

Orrville High School Turf Project to be Named Heartland Field

Heartland Field will be the name of Orrville Stadium's new artificial turf project. The announcement was made earlier this week by Bob Serpentini of Serpentini Chevrolet / Buick, the naming sponsor of the Team Up for Turf project at Orrville High School.

Serpentini said naming the field in honor of the Heartland Education Community, Inc., is a fitting recognition for the hundreds of people that have been committed to the Heartland Education Community for the past 20 years.

It also reflects Orrville's community spirit, which was instrumental in bringing to fruition Heartland's vision of creating three new centerpiece school buildings, a multi-purpose facility and The Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club in a common campus in the center of the city.

"We are honored that the Heartland name will be connected with the new field at Red Rider Stadium," said Al Yeagley, Steering Committee Chairman for Heartland. "Education always has been at the heart of the Orrville community. The naming of the field will help recognize and continue the good work that the community has committed to the education of our youth by shifting the focus from school to education and shifting responsibility from school to community."

Heartland Field at Red Rider Stadium will be dedicated Friday, August 31, 2012, prior to the first home game of the season.

Let's go chatterers...open up those fat wallets & get this thing over the hump. 750k might be a stretch, but 700k is realistic.

All we need is for 1beast to open up his war chest...sell his vintage 1970's Waynedale wrestling singlet on EBay & we're in.

LOL I have to keep that singlet, I may wear it to the Waynedale/Orrville wrestling meet this year....feel free to approach me for an autograph session. (time will be limited, all donations received will be pocketed...and donated back to Orrville at a later date).

Are you able to say how much is needed? Some of us may be able to donate a little.

We're going to get a donation from the guy 1 beast has on his avatar after he sues him for illegal use of his image and pay this thing off.
  • RedRider1
    Miyagi,
I think we're 75k shy of our goal of $750k. That's in your wheelhouse isn't it?

    :)

Are they going to tear off the stadium wrap or just cover up the old name with heartland.
  • sanitizer
My oh my how my little town is changing.... Hard to even recognize the place anymore, but it is going to be one amazing campus when its all done. I am really excited to see a game on the turf. Great to see a small communty pull together and make this all come to reality. In the end I have only one thing to say..... Lets go Riders, kick some @%%!!!!! Earn it baby! Gonna be an amazing football season on so many levels. Good times!:D

Yeah...we bought a bunch of spray paint and athletic tape. Plans are to paint over the Serpentini name and use the tape to spell out Heartland Field

Actually, we're going to use styrofoam cups and squeeze them into the fencing to spell out Heartland.

Seriously...on one side of the pressbox is going to read "Heartland Field" on both sides....on the other side of the press box, it's still going to say Serpentini, just not Serpentini Field.

I think we should have a picture of Mark Zook on one side of the wrap, holding a sign that says welcome to Heartland Field

:p(I figured how to post, Zook and summers so I am going to bug you, until you join me)
