Orrville Red Rider Football 2012
-
riders1A little from the Louisville website on last nights scrimmage.

thePITmanAfter watching the highlights, it doesn't look like the Orrville we're used to, but still athletic on offense and flew to the ball on D. Louisville's only score was a big play on a blown assignment, it seemed; so I'm assuming you held them in check otherwise, 'cuz I saw no other highlights close to the red zone. Good D.
As for Orrville's offense, the thing that jumped off the page at me was that Louisville's D-line was in the backfield nearly every play. Was their D-line that good, or was Orrville's O-line that porous? Either way, the Red Riders still made plays, regardless. You definitely have the athletes again this year, as we all expected. Good hitting in that video, too. Happy to see that. See you guys week 2 on turf! -
OQBNot too bad, Kyle looks more comfortable in the pocket this year. Oline will continue to get better with game reps, but we have to be able to run the ball to sustain drives. I don't like seeing we had to go for it on 4th and 10 twice...4th and short sure but we have to be able to move the ball consistently. Getting excited for the season!
Side note: why does expert t's advertise they are open on Saturdays 9-3, but the past two Saturdays I have gone to get new rider gear they are closed? Very frustrating!
Go riders! -
RedRider1Pit, I don't think that video was every play. Sure there was a lot of pressure but maybe those were the "chosen" plays from all the plays of the scrimmage.
I think, not 100% positive that a starter on Orrville's line was hurt.
Also keep in mind that we were probably being scouted...never want to show too many cards.
I like our speed & Kyle seems comfortable & confident.
Should be fun next week. -
thePITman^^ Good point, forgot they were highlights. Haha. I'm with ya on not showing much. We were sending West Holmes our film from last night, so you can imagine how boring it was. LoL

RedRider1Here's Orrville 2012 Master Schedule. I guess this could double as an OCC Master Schedule too.

Good for calculating Harbin points if nothing else. -

Offensive line should look better next week, Kick was out with the flu, and Auble was out also, should be back to normal by Friday. -
RedRider1This team has a bit of that 2010 team in them. Remember after graduating all that talent from the 2009 team (Hoobler, Miller, Besancon etc.), 2009 was supposed to be a down year...and all we did was get to the state semifinals in 2010.
Not predicting a final 4 run, but the cupboard isn't bare by any means....it never is in Orrville.
That being said, you don't replace Brenner, Monheim & Turner and not miss a beat....like every year, it will be how we start. All of the first 4 are winnnable games...but those middle 3 against home with Senior & WH and at Ashland, will define the season. -
RedRider1Say what you will about the name Serpentini Field at Red Rider Stadium...but just read the name of Sandusky Perkins' new field....it's "Firelands Regional Medical Center Stadium." Seriously.
-
rrfanI am not a fan of Serpentini Field name but it does look pretty nice with all the new things done.

I think the game of the year for us is this Friday against Northwest. I have heard all predictions ranging from 2-8 to 8-2 for Orrville. Its nice not knowing what to expect. I know one thing for sure, there are a lot of new faces and young kids on this team that have the chance to mark their territory and stake their claim and what they do Friday sets the precedent for the next 9 weeks. I like big games early and it doesnt get any bigger then this one. 2 years ago when we played NW we only filled about half the stands on the visiting side in Canal Fulton. This Friday these fresh young faces need the help of the Orrville community to make the 25 minute drive to support these young men. After all what else could be going on in Orrville on a Friday during football season. Lets Go Riders!!! -
FlashDo you like this name better? Get used to it.
-
rrfanThanks Flash that really adde nothing to the conversation.
-
FlashSorry RRfan, after I read it , it did sound that way. What I meant was the fields name has been changed officially to the above name. I don't know anything else but got an email saying that it has been officially changed.
-
rrfanYes actually I do, but I like Red Rider Stadium the best.
-
rrfanGot ya Flash. That is amazing since the wrap was already up. What happend?
-
RedRider1Orrville Schools & the turf committee had absolutely nothing to do with it.
This was an agreement between 2 entities. Nothing more. -
FlashWhat did Shultz the German guard say on Hogan's Hero's? I know nothing. LOL. I heard the wrap may be changed. I'm thinking there will be a press release in Orrviews. I know there was some opposition to any commercial name and this is a fix to that problem. Serpentini has been very good to the school system and community and may have considered this a way to not cause hard feelings. This won't make everyone happy I'm sure, because that is impossible, and the naysayers will come out again, but that's their right.
-
Old RiderHeartland Field....hmmm, well its obvious as to what company has their name on this now.
I like the name and it sounds as if both Serpentini and the Heartland Org. mutually agreed on the change. -
FlashI do know that there was mutual agreement on the change.
-
RedRider1Flash;1251601 wrote:I do know that there was mutual agreement on the change.
And that's the important part...it wasn't taken from Serpentini because of something they did or didn't do. Both parties benefitted. -
1_beastSweet turf field....I honestly wouldn't be crying over the "Sponsor's" name....I would be thankful. I guess nothings enough in ryder country.....
-
BUFORO
Totally agree with you . I'm a Red Rider fan and was real happy Serpentini came forward and purchased the rights to name the field. But some people just have to complain. I wouldn't be surprised if other companies in this town start to think twice before they donate to this athletic program again.1_beast;1251832 wrote:Sweet turf field....I honestly wouldn't be crying over the "Sponsor's" name....I would be thankful.
