    Looking good Rider fans.

I've been ready a lot lately about all these 7 on 7 camps, and wondered that since Orrville will now have the turf field, will they be thinking about hosting any camps starting next year? Just wondering if anybody has heard anything of this possibility.

Walked over to the stadium today to check out the turf. It's looking good. Can't wait until the season starts.

    razzle,
that would be cool to see...maybe a multi-team one. Let the local schools come here and see our facilities. :)

Camps draw campers if you have a "big" name player in attendance. I'd say give it a few years and let your D1 linebackers come back and headline the camp.

Turf....Orrville..... Just needs time to sink in I guess? Wow it does look pretty sick!!! I love the red end zone!

Anyone out there go to 7 on 7, just curious how we looked?

I heard OK...more intermediate passing than at Massillon. We hung with Mck and played well against Louisville. A positive I'd say.

    That's a peculiar shape for a football field! :D

Stopped by yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see the crew working on Sunday! The stadium is looking fantastic and thanks again to the committee that made this dream a reality!

    RR1,

Do you have any more pics from today?

I stopped yesterday too. Very impressed. I stood in the visitor bleachers and just stared at it for 10 minutes. Hard to believe and in a month it will all be a reality. With Jerry's back open and this stadium looking the way it does I cannot wait until Friday night lights. The best 10 weeks of the year and hopefully more!

Just one pic...they put all the yard numbers in today & started cutting in the hash marks. Endzone lettering & midfield logo are next...then time for the rubber infill.

Goal posts being installed today. Bleacher Wrap crew on site as well to begin installation.

Rubber infill was delivered today. That will be the last step once all the details are cut in..possibly by this weekend.

That's so the field will accomodate our new flying winged VEE Power offense which we will run to the shorter side of the field and the defense will force the opponents to go to the wide side.

So I learned some random facts today talking with the mgr of our turf project. The hash marks are not supposed to touch the sideline. Most maintenance guys just paint them until they touch on grass because it's easier. They cut out each hash and number and letter and then have a white, red or black piecs to fit exactly into the slot. Then a piece of special glue paper vinyl is overcutto the spot, a bunch of adhesive is applied all over it, it is placed under the existing turf and then the hash mark or letter or number is placed into the cut out area. That's it. No sewing on any of that. If anyone was interested.
  • RedRider1
That is interesting 5k...other than sewing all the turf panels together, everything is glued. Same will go for the end zone lettering which has to be on the schedule for tomorrow and Thursday.

rubber infill might begin to get spread and raked in over the weekend. The field could be done by this time next week. more likely than not I'd say.

Work started today on the bleacher wrap too.

Was at the field at noon time and got to talk to Brad Morrison from Maumee Bay Turf and got the same explanation about the hash marks. Got to see the goal posts go up. This may be interesting to a few. Go to the first page and read the first couple pages of this topic. Were at the same place , but with a new field.

How many other D IV teams have a turf field, anyone know? In the SE IV- Portsmouth, Ironton, and South point. Div V -Coalgrove and Rockhill.
  • RedRider1
I know of at least 3 public schools in our division with turf. Huron, Martins Ferry and Germantown Valley View.

    Another is Millbury Lake...so that's 4 and we're 5.

I don't believe Ironton has turf yet....they're trying but I don't believe they've gotten the funds raised yet.

Don't know a ton about the region 15 & 16 teams so it may be more than 5 but not much more than 10 probably.
  • THE4RINGZ
Is Tri-Valley D4, or D5? They have an awesome turf field.
  • RedRider1
Of the schools around here who have turf...most are Big schools or private schools. The only small public school in the NE Ohio area that has turf (that i know of) is Cuyahoga Heights. They're a D-5 school.
