Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

Ah ha! I was racking my brain trying to figure out who we had that spoke with those accents! ;-)

    Great video.

Something similar to this could easily be put together using voice from past Rider greats & coaches. Would be neat to show the kids during Wooster Week.

It's time to put one more push into this turf project. Everyone will put away their checkbooks after that first home game on Aug. 31st...so we have a 7 week window to get it done.

The new field & track and entire venue will look as good as it ever did....if that's worth something to you as an Orrville citizen or as a Red Rider...or both...it's time to show that appreciation.

Times are tight for everyone...but this town is special and deserving of the best we can give our kids. If that video doesn't stir something inside you to be the best...then its a lost cause.

Just saw a picture of the bleacher wrap. That is pretty nice and will look great! Kind of have to get past the Commercial aspect of it but hey, Serpentini has been very generous for years to our schools. If this was their desire then I'm OK with it....it still looks great! I can't wait to see the finished product. Can't wait!

Great advertising for Serpentini...If I had to choose between seeing it on bleacher wrap or seeing it on the turf, I'd choose the bleacher wrap all day.

This is the same company that did wraps for Fairless, canton south, Jackson & others in the area. Most of those are sponsored by Kent Stark.

www.bleacherjersey.com to see some of their other works.

    I like it.

Also, the back side of the pressbox was starting to show it's age. The siding was starting to wear and the OHS logo actually FELL OFF right before graduation, so this wrap also cleans up the backside of the pressbox.

Someone show me a public school our size (or smaller) in Ohio that can boast these features...turf, new track, 1 yr old scoreboard, bleacher wrap. Anyone?

The bleacher wrap looks nice. Are they really calling it Serpentini field? Was there another name for the field?
  • OQB
Wow love the Bleacher wrap!! I'm glad they kept it simple and iconic. I can't wait to see the finished product!

In the past it was just Red Rider Stadium...and it will still be that, just adding Serpentini Field. His sponsorship runs for 10 years...and then he can re-up or someone else can jump in.

I thought I remembered sometime in the past they had named the field after a former team doctor or was that just an honorary thing.
  • BRF
    Hey, Riders1!

    Old Doc Reiheld. Good guy.
  • Flash
Never named the field after him, but did have a bronze plaque. That plaque and some other Rider greats are going to have a spot designated for them.

The name of the field should be Morris Tipton Field or Coach Mac field period! These 2 put this program on the map! Great things going on in Orrville for sure I just dont like the name of the field. Money talks I know but just doesnt seem right as Serpentini field

Was just at stadium tonight on the way home from a sports hall of fame committee meeting and snapped this picture.

    RRN,
I completely understand your position...but the turf committee did approach the Tipton family initially, just for the record. I'm sure it was hoped that a financial contribution would have been made by the family in exchange for the honor, but for whatever reason, that agreement wasn't made.

Also....7-on-7 at Massillon Monday at 5:30pm.
  • rrfan
great things going on. I love the fact that we are into 7 on 7"s. Football is close...

Turf should be rolling in at the end of the week!!

That was a big maybe depending on the progress at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin...they've had great weather for it.

There was some concern about people wanting to get out on the turf while the track was having that latex resin applied.

Committee wants people to know that turf will be off limits until the work on the track is 100% done. Field may be ready to use, but can't because of progress of track. It's a multi-step and multi-layer process.

    ^^^
I didn't mean installed.....the turf is being manufactured down in Dalton Georgia and should be arriving in Orrville late this week.
  • RedRider1
I know....They mentioned how they want the turf and the crew to get here at about the same time so the rolls of turf dont sit around and get flattened by their own weight.

Dear turf committee, thanks for all your hard work and countless hours in meetings and presentations, don’t let a few people speak for the quiet majority, we are proud of your work period. You have done a great job in a small amount of time you had to put this together, so don’t let one or two peoples comments on this site diminish what the overall finish product will look like, when we beat Triway on during our first home game. Job well done!!!

    Rep!!

RRN, that is a sentiment felt by a lot of people, but those two coaches and Dr. Reihelds plaque will have a special area.

Appreciate the kind words. Looking forward to the night of Aug. 31st...should be a special night for the community.

Well it didnt take long for one of my posts to be taken the wrong way. Thatta boy Orrville fans you havent disappointed me. Yes for sure awesome job by the turf committee and all those folks should pat each other on the back for one hell of a job. My only point Redrider555 was it would have been great to have ot Mo Tipton field or Coach Mac field. I didnt realize the committee approached the Tipton family about such a thing. Serpentini it is with no hard feelings here. Im just an old school guy that gets a lot out of things such as "Coach K court" and many other examples of people who donated maybe not money but more time than any of us know to put a small town program on the map. Again I mean no disrepsect to Bob Serpentini for his generous donation I just think it would have been neat to see. Either way again great job to the turf committee and you folks in Orrville are lucky to have such a person in RR1 to lead the charge on such things as these. Job well done!
