Remove the private schools, and schools that share their facility with another school (high school or college).WCLfan;1233295 wrote:A few small schools I can think of are Lucasville Valley, Nelsonville York, Gilmour Academy, One of the Johnstown schools, St. Thomas Aquinas, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, Oak Hill (Jackson County)

RedRider1How's this for a midfield logo? Very Buckeye-esque.
Beautiful. And yes, the Red Rider logo was considered, but all the detail involved added too much to the pricetag. -
OQBBeautiful!!!
I'm glad they went with the red block "O" instead of the white that was in the initial drawing. -
RedRider1
Me too. And it will look the same from either side of the field. Endzone lettering is next. Barring any setbacks...rubber infill will start this weekend, possibly Friday.OQB;1233653 wrote:Beautiful!!!

Man is this going to look great under the lights. Can't Wait. -
OQBDoes anyone know if they are going to install the white border around the outside of the field, or will it just be white where the sideline/coaches box are?
-
Mr MiyagiLet me guess..... One end zone will say Serpentini Field and the other one will say "American, and PROUD of it.
All kidding aside the field looks great. Things have come along way with turf technology since I helped install the field at BW in the 80's. That was pretty much like glueing carpet to concrete. You all should be proud of the community coming together and pushing this through. Lets hope the community will come together again to pass this tax levy and unearned income tax I have been reading about. -
RedRider1
Not sure on that...right now it looks like they're just going to use the thick white inside the coaches box.OQB;1233725 wrote:Does anyone know if they are going to install the white border around the outside of the field, or will it just be white where the sideline/coaches box are?
If it's similar to their other projects in NW Ohio, that's how it will be. -

Orrville has always supported common sense levys...this one will be tough. As a resident and one who works in Orrville..I get dinged twice (paycheck and prop. taxes).Mr Miyagi;1233773 wrote:Let me guess..... The biggest thing will be making sure all the voters understand that this levy has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the new buildings and all the recent athletic facilities improvements! So many people see all these improvements and then just assume the school is trying to get into the taxpayers' pockets to pay for them!RedRider1;1233819 wrote:Orrville has always supported common sense levys...this one will be tough. With property values less than they were the last time a levy was passed you will probably still pay less even with an increase. My understanding of the income tax part is "earned" income not "unearned (investment) income". this should help out seniors and hopefully take us farther down the road before we need to address a levy again because it is not subject to that "roll back" stuff that happens with property tax levys.RedRider1;1233819 wrote:Orrville has always supported common sense levys...this one will be tough. Either way...very good to point out this is totally unrelated to field and multipurpose facility. this has to be done every 5-7 years and I think we have gone longer than that on this one since the last time our operating levy needed addressed. -
Mr Miyagi
I agree with this. But this may be hard to do. People see the building, field etc and then they see a levy. Hopefully the district voters will see that the new additions are not the cause of the need for a levy. 5knots....I thought I read unearned income.....I may be wrong, you are a lot closer to it than i am , I will have to check on that again.Old Rider;1233880 wrote:The biggest thing will be making sure all the voters understand that this levy has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the new buildings and all the recent athletic facilities improvements! FlashThe Levy is on earned income. There are two types of levies: the traditional and the earned income levy. Ours is the earned income levy and doesn't include investment income, etc. Miyagi you did read that in the paper, but it was a mistake in the first article written and has been corrected. The thinking was to give Seniors and people who are living on retirement income a break and not have to pay as much. The other option was to go for a higher millage and not the income tax. On us folks that will pay both ways it didn't make much difference, but seniors and others on a fixed retirement income will get a break this way.

gowooYou will always have to fight the perception that the school is spending operating levy dollars on these building and field improvements. People just don't understand that many of those things are funded with dollars that cannot be used to oeprate the schools. Some people in Wooster are still complaining about the new high school which was built anout 15 years ago!
-
Mr MiyagiThanks Flash for info on the correction. I thought for sure that I read it the right way. Guess I shouldn't put much faith in The Daily Mistake. Hopefully all goes well with this. For years NWN couldn't pass anything , now it rare that something doesn't pass.
How excited are the players (both soccer and football) must be to be the first class to play on such a nice looking field. -

SPOT ON! Waynedale had to cross this bridge with our last levy. We just finished our concession stand/fieldhouse that was strictly donations and booster...but the people not in the know...(older folks, Amish etc.) was not willing to pass the levy due to building of the concession stand. It also has killed our efforts to get our new wrestling room built.Old Rider;1233880 wrote:The biggest thing will be making sure all the voters understand that this levy has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the new buildings and all the recent athletic facilities improvements! RedRider1I have zero patience for people like that....take a minute to get involved and learn the facts....but it's just easier (and lazy) to make assumptions and toss out junk on facebook or the DR comment section.

Todays Daily Record says the Block O is "painted" on? Is this correct or is that an inlay? Either way, it looks great and I can imagine how proud you folks are! -

Every number, letter, hash mark, is inlayed. The difference between the "O" and the "ORRVILLE RED RIDERS" and everything else is that those items were made at the Maumee facility, layed on the field and then the green or red turf was cut out from the field to accommodate the letters and Block O. a little FYI all the scrap from the letters and O are being retained by the school .....so you scrap hounds....stick to dumpster diving for pieces of turf you may want to take home.1_beast;1234434 wrote:

REDRIDER555I had no idea there was so much detail work in turf, I kind of imagined a truck pulling up like wholesale carpet, rolling it out, tack it down, and you’re ready to go. What a great learning experience, Great Job Turf Committee! Any word how much practice time football, soccer and band will get on it, before the season starts, and will there be any slots for the kids to practice on it once the respective seasons start.

iced earthWon't be long until someone paints a big yellow "GO WOO" somewhere on that field....we should all throw in $5.00 and pick the date!
-
5knotsWell if that happens with amount of money invloved you may just be committing a felony instead of a stupid little prank like killing grass. Better ask yourself "is it worth it?"

All the more reason for new fencing and security cameras. Probably wont be treated like a petty crime either.iced earth;1234590 wrote:Won't be long until someone paints a big yellow "GO WOO" somewhere on that field....we should all throw in $5.00 and pick the date! -
RedRider1This is interesting....the security system must have motion sensors. A good idea really.
http://tri.gmnews.com/news/2008-07-10/front_page/018.html
as soon as a playing field is entered, the security equipment will identify whether it is a person or an animal and the police will be notified that someone or something is on the field. -
