Yes! Redistricting would definitely help. On a Wayne County district map, Rittman is just a blip on the radar compared to every other school district in Wayne Co. It's terrible, a road near where I live is considered Norwayne, but if there were no trees or hills in the way, you could clearly see RHS from there when it's about 7 miles to NHS.mompov;909480 wrote:Hmmm....maybe some redistricting would help. -

My favorite one of that group is the Yetti who does nothing but yell the same thing, game after game..."Quit running the ball!" What a clown!
Do you really think that Coach Z QUIT on his kids tonight? Do you really believe that? This guy played and now coaches harder than anybody I know. Take it from someone who is VERY CLOSE to the situation...you need to stop saying the things you say on these forums. It will get to the point where you will not be welcomed AT ALL. Actually, I think it is to that point. Word about your rants on this forum has gotten to the "people at the top" and trust me, they aren't happy. You have family members that are close to the about what you are doing to them! You are making it very uncomfortable for them.
Please remember who the leaders really are of this team...the seniors. Just like any other athletic team, you are only as good as your seniors. Our "leaders" are the same ones who had to have their senior group picture re-taken because they thought it would be cool to have "hand gestures" in the picture. THEN, some of their parents couldn't understand what the big deal was. They thought they were being singled out. Are you kidding me??? Our kids are prepared just as good, if not better, than any other team in the league. As a coach, he can only do so much. The bottom line is this...the players HAVE TO PERFORM WHEN IT COUNTS. The last 2 years, we haven't had enough POSITIVE senior leadership. Let's just throw it out there. You know it and I know it...that is the problem with the Bears right now. We don't have anyone who wants to step up and get the job done. We just have a bunch of people who want to blame the coach! Give me a break!!!
The picture "thing" is over , drop it ,everyone else has. They are kids they did something dumb. They took their punishment .As far as having no senior leadership, don't judge them all by a couple of goof offs. Some of those boys spend hours everyday in the off season working for the next year and they help the underclassmen . What happened Friday was not good, not one kid ran on to that field with the intent of loseing the game and I don't believe the coaches did either. Believe me I know that the picture thing is over. We ALL want it to be because it was such a POOR decision. I know that kids will be dumb but there is difference between being dumb/ornery and down right offensive. The reason I brought it was because that set the tone for what we should expect from them. It wasn't a couple of them...it was 6 of the 12.BEARIDER;909901 wrote:The picture "thing" is over , drop it ,everyone else has. They are kids they did something dumb. That is great that they spend the off-season getting better but here is the bottom line...what do you do when the lights are turned on? Players have to make plays! There is no way around it. Our leaders are the underclassmen. If you don't see it, then you are in denial.
They don't want to play because it requires work year round and they don't want to commit?!?!?!?!? Are you serious? THERE is our problem. We have kids right now who don't want to work hard. Really, how hard is it to get your butt out of bed and lift for an hour for 3-4 times a week? He doesn't ask for that much from these kids. However, if you don't have that commitment and dedication then you get your butt handed to you, like this past Friday. Plain and simple we got out-muscled and manhandled by the Smithies. You think those boys don't work hard in the off-season? -
beatobamaAs for the Smithville-Bears game, the better team clearly dominated this game. Smithies were bigger, more agressive, faster and seemed better prepared.
I do not agree that football is a year long sport, unless you are not playing other sports. Skills from other sports also translate to football. For example: Wrestling works on leverage, baseball helps with hand-eye coordination and basketball works agility etc. It sounds to me as though a lot of kids want to just walk on the field on Fridays and be a hero without any work. It likely will not happen this way. If these kids (Wayendale) don't like being pushed, I hope they don't play B-Ball because they will be in for a rude awakening with their coaching change.
As for league title: looks to be between Smithies and Bobcats. Not sure Hillsdale can stop Smithies ground game either. If Smithies can improve pass "D" and develop some type of passing game, they could become very dangerous this season. -
BEARIDERIf you think the leaders are all the underclassman thats fine, I hope they never do wrong as they will be held accountable by some forever. I won't go any further with this as it's against my beliefs to not argue about what these kids do on the field. Sometimes you can't be the best and if you think the past year and this one are bad ,wait till next year.

Mr. RussellBeatobama makes some good points and also I just have three things to compliment some of his posts.
I have not seen as close of a group of friends on a football team as this year's Smithville team, and they have some of the hardest workers that I have ever seen as far as high school kids. Bates, Douglass, Steiner, Larabee, Kurtz, The Hiltys, Shane, Buss, Musser, Kelbly, Wiley, these kids all busted their tales this offseason so I am glad to see them have some success. Also, all of the above-mentioned kids do multiple sports but are on a year-long lifting program that will benefit them heavily in any sport.
As far as the pass D, I think Smithville is very capable of stopping the pass, as they did against Waynedale on Friday and against Fairless a couple weeks ago where most of Fairless' yards were on the last two drives against the twos and threes. Besides Wallace I probably would take Bates over any defensive back in the WCAL (maybe the area) and Shane is also very capable of matching up with the other team's best reciever. Compared to last season, the pass D for Smithville is great, but will be tested heavily against Hillsdale this week.
I also think Smithville can pass the ball when needed. 3-3 Friday, converting 3rd downs.
With that being said, the Smithies are still the underdog this week in Hillsdale and I also think that Waynedale will come back and play well with Norwayne at least for a half. -
footballnutWallace is an inside linebacker not a defensive back.

The HC gets the GLORY with the wins and the BLAME with the losses....wcalfan;909783 wrote:O-Trap...he is pretty much "shnockered" all the time. STILL, that is no excuse for saying the things that he says. He has singled out Coach Z on here on other occasions. You should hear him at the games while he sits in the stands.
I am just wondering what will happen if the wrestling season doesn't go the way he would like it to...will he then blame the wrestling coach?!?!?!?
I have much more to elaborate on...but i'll hold off for now, dont want feeling getting hurt.
You see wcalfan, I have been on these boards for years, have met many great people and dont hide behind a screen name. Most know me...I guess I should make a new name and reamin anonymous to speak my mind....and any Coach thats reads this crap and takes it to heart....well, I suppose I would think they would be more intellegent than that!
EDIT: Another note on the Head Coach....Orrville had a semi final team just last year....look at the beating their coach is taking this year, its the nature of the Beast -

I share the same thoughts!Havin Fun;909562 wrote:Coach Zuercher is a good person. Don't know enough about the situation to know if he a good coach. What I do see is very low numbers. Really good athletes in the freshman and sophmore classes and none want to play football. People I know say the kids won't play for the coach. Again, I am not close enough to know but something is not right. -
Mr. RussellFootballnut, thanks for the clarification, I thought he was being moved back and forth this year.

beatobamaWaynedale Qb missed a couple "WIDE" open receivers early that would likely have been td's and could have changed the tone of the game. I agree pass defense is better than last season, but to truly get over the hump it is still a little suspect. As for Smithvillle passing game, it needs to get better. 3 for 3 is great, but there will come a time when SMithville will need to pass. Fridays passes were just because the coaches knew they would be open when Waynedale put 9 in box. Love the Smithies, so I am not knocking the Green team. I think they could have a great season, but these are the things I see as neeeded to get to week 11 and maybe beyond. Also, I see the Smithies as the favorite this week if the stop the big passes.

mompovThere is a pervasive attitude among kids today that they should get the muscle and the skill with as little work as possible. This is also a reason for Dalton's low numbers. Quite a few sophomores who played last year didn't come back. Lots of "reasons" but bottom line, didn't want to do the hot sweaty time in weight training or the summer workouts. Maybe the new facility will help that.
I believe that football can be a year long sport, but I also see the value of 3 sport athletes. I have one of each. My three sport athlete is playing college ball and I would say his wrestling and running were assets to his football. The wrestling especially enhanced his quickness and agility on the tackle. But being a three sport athlete is hard work too and not all kids can keep up the scholastics and do that work.
I do think that if our backs would have also tried track in jr hi they would be faster. Sprinters learn to live for that speed thrill.
That said, my football only boy, works the weights off season and in the summer and he is also building himself up quite well and keeps his enthusiasm for football year round. -

No. I believe Waynedale will rally around the humiliating loss to Smithville and come out ready to play. I am not saying they will win the game, but it won't be over at halftime.Bobcat3;910305 wrote:Sooner? -
BobcatI think Bobcat3 is being a little over confident. I think Waynedale will come ready to play also. In spite of some of the ramblings on here I think they are well coached. This week is critical for them and I think they'll come out and fight hard. Norwayne on the other hand I believe will come out flat. It's been too easy. I think the Cats will win but it wont be over by half.

On the plus side, I think this will be a good opportunity for Norwayne to see its starters for four quarters.Bobcat;910571 wrote:I think Bobcat3 is being a little over confident. A bunch of us go out to eat after the games so I don't usually tailgate but I am there about six. So if you guys want to tailgate I'll bring something.O-Trap;909806 wrote:If anyone is tailgating, I think there should be an OC tailgate. -

My over-confidence is my weakness, I hope they do give the Cats a game because they do need to play 4 quarters. :thumbup:Bobcat;910571 wrote:I think Bobcat3 is being a little over confident. Go FalconsBeast: finally had time to pull out last years film. Hillsdale passed once in the fourth. 3rd and 14 after a penalty from the Bears 23. Result TD.
Serious question: Since this comes up so much. What is every ones opinion on when you should call of the attack?
Personally, I believe under 28 points difference no matter when, it is still a ball game. -
Bobcat3
35-40 Points. Norwayne did a much better job against Rittman calling off dogs then in Northwestern game....you don't onside kick (or pooch kick as Harbour said it was..:thumbdown when you are up 40.Go Falcons;910599 wrote:

Go FalconsShould some one run up to Creston and see if Miyagi is taped to the goal post again? He has not been around.
