after smithville's beat down off the golden bears the bears will be coming back upset about blowout and take it out on norwayne or hillsdale. lastly WCAL= SMITHVILLE, they will stop the big pass and their line will kill quarterbacks:thumbup:

I think you call the dogs off when early 4th qtr, or when you are up by 5 scores. Now, if the team comes back and is whithin one score, evaluate the situation and if ones need to return then so be it. Your goal is to win the game, and it is the other team's job to compete and stop you, but you have to show sportsmanship. After you are up by 3 scores, no celebrating after Td's etc...Just do your job and move on.

Just run the score....its the defenses resp. to stop you. You play to win...but you can do it with class! RE: run the ball and clock.....alot of JV and freshman kids still will score, you cannot expect the kids to not play hard. Thats when injuries occur!

I talked to one Bobcat back in spring and he thought Waynedale would the hardest team to beat so they will come out fired up.

Yeah, I remember a year when Smithville beat New London 80-6, and if memory serves me right, Smithville starters didn't play a down in the second half. JV and such were running the ball and scoring at will. You can blow a team out and still play with respect.

Why would he wake up his dreaming? How does one even do that?

I can't say I really understand all the "running up the score" talk.

Dalton fans complain about a 42-12 score. How do you think the Chipp fans felt in 2009 when the Dawgs beat them 71-26 or Northwestern in 2004...a 63-7 Dalton victory.

This seems like a clear cut case of "It's ok for us to do it....but don't do it to us"

The real irony here is....it came at the hands of Hillsdale. A team that has taken more 30-40-50-60 point beatdowns than anyone in the league over the past 40 years.

Look at Keith Schrock, coached the Smithies to an 80-6 victory over New London in 2002. He'll end up in the local HOF.

And speaking of Hall of Famers, Mo Tipton used to "run it up" quite a bit.

This year, Norwayne is going to issue a few more 40+ spankings and not feel a bit bad about it. I remember when they got destroyed by Danville 69-9.

My point here is, Running up the score is a part of the game, it's not a glowing example of sportmanship, but everyone is guilty of it at one time another. Should there be some kind of mercy rule to curb it? I vote no. Football doesn't need any more rules. Its got enough.

Its about time...Dennis was awful so far this season and would be a solid receiver
  • OQB
As long as he can complete the screen pass to Rittman Wr's he should be pretty good.

Glad Chief Dennis is opening his eyes and realizing his own son isn't doing a thing at QB.

You do if you want to give other team good field position and but in Jv. Like at Westeren Reserse when Bobcats was on their own 30 with 4th and 20 and they went for it and gave the ball to WR and then sent in JV under pressure. Bobcats Stalk!

Is that English? Paul do yourself a favor (and everyone else) and stop posting. Go back to Doylestown and watch the Chipps get crushed by 50 again this weekend.

What was he trying to say there?
  • oldsmithie
Coach Schrock is already in the hall of fame, Locally and the ohio high school coaches hall of fame. The Smithville fans have been waiting for a turn around season and it looks like the wait is over. Smithvilles' linemen are playing like the linemen did in the glory days. I have been cautiously opptomistic since the season began and the Smithies have met the challenge. This group of young men have put in a lot of work in the off season and it is paying off. I think Smithville will give the Falcons and the Bobcats all they can handle. It looks like the men in green want to give the "oldman" one more title before he retires. Go Big Green.

ahh - one or two bulldog fans said something about the falcons last score on here - i don't think most dalton people had a problem with it at all - they were just trying to put the game away.

This is what it takes to win. That never changes.

It's how you do it red, those butt whoppins we put on rittman and the chips, well we couldn't help but score. Even our JVs scored. Who mentioned new rules? I think it's just an opinion, right?
Why go to the extreme red? I never said "don't do it us", run the score that is.

Ting, Ting, Ting............(salad fork tapping wine glass)

    Yes, ladies and gentlemen.....

OTrap just insinuated that a 74 point face pounding was done with respect..........Now I've seen some conceited posts (including some of my own)......but this one takes the cake.

First of all, respect was absent.......
New London didn't respect themselves enough to stop the Smithies (varsity or JV)
And Smithville didn't just run consecutive no frills fullback dives to the 1 hole when they got up by 60.

    Secondly.........
Smithville ran their playbook and tacked on 20 more. Nothing wrong with it, kids got experience.....Smithvilles JV got Friday night action.....New Londons whole team got a life lesson.

    And finally.....
If my ex-wifes little brother, a LB on NL, didn't need a ride home....I would have left that game mid way through the first quarter.
So, call it what it was........A savage battering.....but leave the respect thing at home or at whatever metrosexual wine bar you frequent.
