mt1514So Fairless isn't going to be any better than last few years?

Fairless only won 1 game last year, ( DII Timken) and was only close in 1 other, so this is not a very good addition to Smithville's schedule, unless there is a vast improvement in the Falcons they would be better off with a DIV or DV with 3 to 5 wins. -

Ergo my statement "confidence builder on the field." Smithville needs to get off to a quick start.riders1;694190 wrote:Fairless only won 1 game last year, ( DII Timken) and was only close in 1 other, so this is not a very good addition to Smithville's schedule, unless there is a vast improvement in the Falcons they would be better off with a DIV or DV

1486wdfairless will be a confidence builder, but not much else. I think Dalton having Timken on their schedule is only slightly better - a D2 team that will give you a bunch of first level points and that's about it. (you do get the bonus of playing at fawcett every other year, though)

THE4RINGZTimken is a nice early season game for Dalton because they usually have similar speed as Dalton. Something Dalton doesn't usually see again until the play offs. Other that yeah playing at Fawcett is the only other benefit.

Mr. RussellSmithville didn't want Fairless but the area schools we contacted weren't interested. Also, Fairless play a freshman quarterback last year, I am sure over the next two years they will definitely improve.

was_that_itI could be mistaken, but I believe Hillsdale has Bucyrus week 2. Delphos St Johns was a 1 year tango.

Havin Fun1. Hillsdale
2. Smithville
3. Norwayne
4. Waynedale
5. Northwestern
6. Dalton
7. Rittman
8. Chippewa
I see 1-4 being a toss-up each time they meet which means they could finish in any order.
If Hillsdale can replace some linemen, look-out.
If Bates stays healthy look out.
If Norwayne and Waynedale can find some more linemen as well they should be tough. Both have good skill positions coming back. Both lost kickers who wons games for them over the last couple years.
Lots of talent but lots of holes as well on my top 4.
The bottom two will be awful. Dalton may win just 2-3 games. I see NW struggling to hit 4 wins. -
mt1514Hillsdale also has to replace Faulk and Moore, huge shoes to fill.

dhs22pIm weirdly excited for this next years Dalton team. The reason is for the first time in a few years we won't have big expectations on our shoulders. We may not be good though but still excited. Any Dalton fans know if we kept the same 3 non-league games?

The first thing that needs to change at Fairless is the culture. Absolutely terrific fans and booster support. But on the field, constant coaching changes, disgrunteld players, lack of any consistency will keep them down unless they change that. This new coach is entering his second year, so they can hope for the best. The freshman quarterback that started last year is decent, and has a long way to go, but hopefully he keeps the right attitude and develops,Mr. Russell;694619 wrote:Smithville didn't want Fairless but the area schools we contacted weren't interested. 1486wddhs - i believe we are keeping the same non league games, at least i have not heard otherwise. I can't say i have the same optimism as you do for next year, there will just be too many 9th and 10th graders playing in all likelihood. The one advantage Dalton has in comparison to chippewa and rittman is the kids expect to win. That is worth more than you think at the high school level. That alone is worth a couple wins most seasons. I do believe the bulldogs will only be down a year or two before they get back in the mix.

Timken being a DII does not give you a bunch of points, only 1 more point than a DIV school, so you have to consider the amount of wins you can expect to see from your opponent. which in Timken's case are 1 or 2 while a decent DIV could give 4 to 6 wins thus more potential points. -
THE4RINGZTimken is always just one or two players away from a .500 season.

And only 3 or 4 wins from .500 . -
1486wdi don't think anyone's arguing about timkens prowess on the football field, however, i do think a 2 win timken team does you better than a 2 win fairless team (but not much much).
-
riders1Not really, as they are in the same league, 2 wins by either probably get the same points unless it's Fairless beating Timken, then Fairless would give you half a point more.
-
THE4RINGZTimken had a nice JV squad last season. Well I mean the 14 kids on the squad played well.
-
1486wdriders - i wasn't talking in terms of playoff points, I was talking in terms of defending athletes.

So we play only 4 home games this year? Or did we change another game? -
1486wdyea, the freshman did hold their own last year fairly well. I actually think they will be ok on the line, but the skill positions are definitely worrisome, especially at qb. I had heard that masters may not be allowed to play due to concussions and he has been the jv qb the last 2 years. if that's the case, you will be going in with someone at qb with no varsity and almost no jv experience - that's tough.
