They always have a fast guy that runs the jet sweep that u have to keep an eye on and if u pay to much attention to that they will give it to their big fullback for 7 yards or hit you on a seam route from the wingbacks.

I sure hope they have more than those 3 plays in that offense :D

whats the fate of chippewa this fall?

Heard Besancon will be helping with coaching duties for the Smithie's this year. In talking to some of the kids on the team, they are very excited to have him coming on board. Also think that several parents are supportive also.
  • Coach 08
^^ I see Besancon taking over the Smithies after this coming year, would be a great move for Smithville.

    3-7.

I agree with Coach 08 I think Besancon is in line for the head job when Schrock steps down.

Hasn't this unofficially been the plan for the past two years?

thats good for besancon, i wish him the best and for the smithies also!

He was a key component to their success in those 6 years where they were dominant in the league and the playoffs.....he was the guy calling plays and man could he keep a defense fooled and on their toes!! He will do well when he finally gets control of the Smithie football program.
  • mt1514
Hopefully he helps a bunch this year.

    i

Ha - I don't know about all that, but I do think he will be a great addition and good future head coach for the green. I also think if he doesn't get the oppurtunity to be the head coach, next year he will be looking for another area job.

theres no way that he wont get the smithville head coach job after shrock retires! obviously his heart is in smithville and thats where he wants to be.. if he doesnt get it i will be very surprised but i dont think he will go to another area school. Also i think smithville just added a new rival!......Rittman... former head coaches teague and besancon are both coaching there and i know rittman has the smithville game circled on their schedule.

i agree, but i think he won't be real happy if he doesn't get that chance sooner rather than later. If shrock keeps hanging on, he will look for another job around that he feels can win consistently.

does anyone think if thut would have a chance to go back to smithville would he take it ?
  • THE4RINGZ
I think Thut has found a home in suburban Lattasburg.

I can't see thut leaving - however, it does make you wonder when you consider that he lives in smithville district, his kids attend smithville, he was an assistant there, and that is his alma mater. Do I expect him to leave NW - no. But I also don't think its out of the question for the reasons i mentioned above. If the smithes had to choose between the 2, it would pretty hard for sure.
  • THE4RINGZ
Thut is in a great situation at Northwestern great community and school support, good kids and has a reputation of building a nice program through his consistency out there. Do you trade that for the opportunity to fill some pretty big shoes at Smithville and roll the dice to see if you can make it happen there if you are him?

Its the old a bird in hand question.
  • Mr. Russell
People who think Brent has the Smithville job locked up obviously do not know who is running the show anymore in Smithville. The powers that be could hire anybody to be the coach, and probably will look at teachers first. They are not always the most deserving but do not be surprised one bit if a teacher in the system or one with a degree gets the job. Nearly everybody in town likes Brent, but it only takes a few on the committee who don't and the job goes elsewhere.
  • thedemoralizer7
if besancon isnt planning on getting the smithville job then why did he leave rittman? he turned rittman around in just 2 years and the kids all started to have faith in him. so i deffinitly dont think he will go anywhere besides smithville and who knows maybe if he doesnt get the head coach at smithville he might be an assistant there for the new coach whoever it may be.
  • 1486wd
i think he was just burned out, getting that rittman job was a lot of work to turn around. And I DO think (very confidently in fact) he will look at another local job if he doesn't get the smithville job - a job he feels he can win at consistently for a long time (read someone other than rittman or chippewa).
