I agree, my only question is how long until this occurs? 2012 maybe? -
Coach 08I am hearing after this next year Brent will take over for Schrock, but of course I have been hearing Coach Schrock was going to retire for the last 10 years, so who knows. But I think it is going to happen this time, maybe lol!
-
1486wdlike i said earlier, it was my impression that Brent is fully expecting this (shrock leaving after this year) and if not, he will likely look elsewhere for a long term job - one not far away at a place he feels he can sustain long term success. (norwayne, dalton, waynedale for example).

Coach 08^^ agreed

he will stay at smithville thats where his heart is at.. theres no way he will take another job besides smithville in wayne county -

I pretty much agree with your take on this thing but I can't help thinking about a possible X factor. If Smithville makes the playoffs or has something like a 7-3 record, I would bet money he retires. I just wonder what happens if the Smithies go 4-6. Can a guy who has expierenced so much success end an iconic 30 year run on a losing note? It can be pretty hard on the ego to go out that way, although many do.1486wd;777335 wrote:like i said earlier, it was my impression that Brent is fully expecting this (shrock leaving after this year) and if not, he will likely look elsewhere for a long term job - one not far away at a place he feels he can sustain long term success. I am by no means saying Schrock has a huge ego or looking to disrespect him in any way, I'm just saying this situation often occurs. -
riders1How old is Shrock?
-
Coach 08I know he is pushing 70, I think he is going to be 68 this year.
-
Bloody ToothbrushHas Schrock ever said he was going to retire? Augie Bossu of Benedictine coached until he was 77. So coaching well into your seventies is not unheard of at the High School level. Lots of schools seem to be taking advantage of the retire/rehire thing so if he is in good health and has the desire.....
Total speculation here....but I wouldn't be surprised if Schrock told Bescancon this year is it and thats why he left Rittman.
Looking at the new Divisions......Northwestern is in for a long 2 years, even if they have heavily talented teams (which I don't think they will) I don't see them sniffing the playoffs with a schedule full of D5 & D6 teams. Last time they were D4 in 2000 an 8-2 record didn't get them in.
Norwayne, on the other hand, may have a better shot with their upcoming talent. At any rate jumping to D4 will make things tougher. Granted, D4 R13 doesn't appear to be a meatgrinder but with the likes of Orrville and Canton Central Catholic around it will be WAY tough for the D4 WCAL teams to win a game or two. -

i agree his heart is there - the rest of your statement is wrong. -
toughluckI see smithville winning it this year with norwayne and hillsdale being tough in the league as well.

i agree1486wd;774445 wrote:good to hear about dane playing - I have been wishing he would for a few years - very athletic, quick and strong. In addition to rb, he would be a great OLB or Safety. I also wonder if they will put moyer at QB - otherwise, ti will be a sophmore with almost no experience (even at jv). A few new upperclassmen would really help out the dawgs. -

i think he went out last yr early then quit. -
luckydog
that's correct.....he's not a Football player no matter how fast he isbeverboy1;779732 wrote:i think he went out last yr early then quit. -

how many WCAL teams do you think hes going to coach at?! theres been 2 so far and i dont see it going over that. If he keeps going from WCAL team to WCAL team (which he wont) that will just give him a bad reputation. where else do you see him coaching at in the WCAL?? hes already coached at rittman and smithville and i know he wont go to chippewa, waynedale, or northwestern and they already have some young coaches there. Hillsdale is just to far for someone from smithville and as much hate smithies have for norwayne i dont see him going there either. -
1_beastI heard Waynedale had some bigtime stud quarterback either move in....or is coming??? IDK the name, but im curious if anyone else has heard anything? Stanley matured last year as the season progressed, but i feel he was a better runner. Not an everydown back, but with strasbaugh and Orr that could be a nice backfield. Anyone heard anything?

riders1Bret Favre?

riders1That's ok he can't spell my name either
And he's spelling his name different to get enrolled. -
Havin FunI have heard nothing on a new Waynedale kid? I don't know how you can improve too much on the backfield Waynedale will return. Right now I see that as the strongest skill group in the WCAL. Three juniors in Stanley, Strasbaugh and Orr and a senior in Miller who did not play the last five games of last year but is a beast. If the Bears can get a line and replace their kicker they will contend in 2012.

1486wdif he goes somewhere other than smithville in a yr or two, i think that's where he stays. All I know is what I heard from the man's mouth.thedemoralizer7;780268 wrote:how many WCAL teams do you think hes going to coach at?! theres been 2 so far and i dont see it going over that.
