2011 Wayne County Athletic League Football

madman11I do believe that the new coach at Rittman will be having his son play quarterback. If not, then I see Hooser getting the job. Decent JV quarterback a year ago and one of the hardest workers i have seen. Would be best fit in the Tribe's new spread offense

There are some good returning signal callers as well. Hillsdale's Kline, Norwayne' s Wallace, and the kid that filled in at Northwestern while Mckeon(sp?) was hurt....can't remember his name, or grade for that matter.
Madman, how are Rittman's numbers looking with the new coach? I could see them having the athletes to run a spread if kids buy in.
Getting stoked for football season, wishing my summer away! I see Hillsdale, Smithville and Norwayne fighting for the top spot this year....I can't claim to know too much though. -
madman11Word is they only have about 45 kids but then again thats not bad considering the numbers we're used to. The new coach's son is supposedly pretty fast but i still think Hooser would be a better fit at qb in a spread......If only they would have ran it a year ago.......
-
THE4RINGZHas the new coaches son played in a spread offense before coming to Rittman? Just curious.
-
madman11I think he ran one last year under his dad at London.....Pretty sure he's gonna be a sophomore this year so he has time
-
WCLfanA healthy Bates should lead the Smithville offense.
-
1486wdforgot about kline coming back, he and wallace are very solid - hope Bates can stay healthy this year when the job should be his and his alone. He's had some bum luck on the gridiron so far. Any ideas on Waynedale, Chippewa, Dalton?WCLfan;811575 wrote:A healthy Bates should lead the Smithville offense.

Again just wondering. The spread puts a lot of the decision making in the quarterback's hands. What kind of talent does Rittman have at the skill positions to make the offense work?madman11;811540 wrote:I think he ran one last year under his dad at London.....Pretty sure he's gonna be a sophomore this year so he has time -
madman11They have a good running back who can catch the ball in Loudin and whoever loses the qb battle (Hooser or Dennis) will also be a big play threat on offense.

I will say this about Dalton....... if the young men that are returning/coming up, play with the same heart and desire as the Dalton teams I watched the last 3 or so years, they won't be down long. Much respect to how they played the game, enjoyed every opportunity I got to see them play. One missed tackle away from taking it to the house and would fly to the football on D. Even the Wynford playoff game couple years back, never quit. It aint the size of the Dawg in the fight.....1486wd;811600 wrote:Any ideas on Waynedale, Chippewa, Dalton? -
was_that_it......it's the size of the fight in the Dawg! ( that and the speed a few of them fellas had never hurts!)

Anyone else?madman11;811671 wrote:They have a good running back who can catch the ball in Loudin and whoever loses the qb battle (Hooser or Dennis) will also be a big play threat on offense. -
madman11Last year they had a freshman named Zach Vaughn who was really tough and a really hard working kid. Ended up getting two concussions and sitting for the rest of the year....If he can come back and pick up where he left off, he'll be a name people are thinking about for the next season. Other than that, Lucas Wiggins (senior) is a monster on the defensive line. Was having a great year up until the Waynedale game when he tore his ACL. Its a tough injury to recover from but if he can, he'll be a guy offenses are game planning on how to block.

OK yeah I understand that, but my question is more related to having the athletes (4-6) to make a spread offense effective. Again, I am not being critical just curious if they (Rittman) have the horses to make defenses need to defend 4 or 5 recievers on nearly every play.madman11;812883 wrote:Last year they had a freshman named Zach Vaughn who was really tough and a really hard working kid. 1486wdi haven't heard anything from this spring/summer, but I would guess dalton will go one of three ways at qb since i heard Masters is not allowed to play (jv qb last 2 yrs, concussions). 1)soph kid that played qb for jv last yr when masters was out - i believe it was jack burke if memory serves 2)move someone to qb from elsewhere (chase moyer comes to mind first) 3) freshman qb (mcginty?)- probably the most unlikely. Any bulldogs have any info on who is working here so far ?

1486wdthat makes sense, good athlete and a nice arm - just raw at the qb spot.

I hear Hammer will be at slot and Keyes in the backfield.....who knows, anything can happen -
dhs22pI would also think Moyer would be more of a running QB but we will see!
-
1486wdare they going to be in a similar offensive set as last yr with keyes as a fb and hammer playing wing? Moyer is definitely a good runner, so they could continue some option as well

He can throw the short ball pretty good and they are working with him on some long pass plays. Bilker is going to throw the ball provided we can block. Moyer throws pretty good rolling out too. We will probably go with a single back set from what I'm hearing. -
Bloody ToothbrushIt's gonna be interesting watching Dalton this year......with Blevins, Hackett & Lint gone it will be a real challenge for 2nd year coach Billker to keep the tradition going. The more I think about it, the more I think the Dawgs won't fall as far as most are predicting.
My prediction.......
Tradition dies hard and all the guys returning are used to winning (Believing is half the battle). This is the season Billker really starts putting his stamp on the program, I bet he's up for the challenge, they will go at least .500 in this transitional year, probably better.
Even if I'm totally wrong....which I can't imagine, the Dawgs will finish ahead of the Huskies. Sorry Miyagi, Rum and all the other Husky Homers but the rebuilding in West Salem will be much more painful than in Dalton. -

No need to be sorry...you know those sandbaggers with have something up their sleeve....but then again, as on Rocky n Bullwinkle.."oops, wrong hat"....could be painful for the huskies, could be equally painful for the bulldogs witha 1 back set..it could be interesting in Dalton.Bloody Toothbrush;816812 wrote:It's gonna be interesting watching Dalton this year......with Blevins, Hackett & Lint gone it will be a real challenge for 2nd year coach Billker to keep the tradition going. THE4RINGZBeast just referred to other people as sandbaggers? Pot meet kettle.
