cant blame fair week..all Wayne County had fair week last week..........

Did the D play terrible....? Or did Dalton play good??

Expect a loss next week!!! you heard it here 1st!!!

my synopis of the league was....Bears HAD a chance to beat Smithville...but lacked size for Hillsdale or Norwayne....

Actually thought Hillsdale was the underestimated class of the league. Didnt think Bears could beat hillsdale...thought bears had a shot at norwayne.

    NOW...Smithville beats hillsdale...

Bears have a shot at Hillsdale

Smithville - Norwayne is a battle

    Bears Norwayne...ugly

    Smithville Norwayne....could be a battle

Hillsdale though...does have the horses to run w/ Norwayne

Norwayne has to go 9-1 to get in playoffs...and may be on the road.

    Hillsdale is out....

    Smithville may sneak in...
Bloody: The beginning of the the thaw.

Beast: Dalton drove 80 on first possession and scored. Forced Hillsdale to punt on our first possession. Had they not thrown the interception ? Dalton had more first downs, more yards on the ground, and controlled the clock and only 122 yards less (about the same yardage as two of our plays) than the Falcons. Don't have the numbers now but I bet Dalton put more yards on us than almost all the last four games combined. This was not a Mapleton, or Chippewa game. This was not a blow out. You talk about it hurting teams to only go half a game on starters but don't like it when they do go late. You gripe about a pass late in the game last year that ended at 36-14 which is not IMO a blow out but claimed a moral victory by hanging on with Norwayne the week before. Are the Bears going to play tough or aren't they?
If it is wrong to get better on your passing game then how does a secondary get better when you do not want people passing against them?

I already stated if Hillsdale plays like they did last night Smithville wins, and I said before I don't think we win the league. You are not the first.

So how is it Shananigins when you agree with me that we are not that good?

Were was the Bears "Chance" at 42-0?

No chance!!! Dominated start to finish...was never in the game.

I don't know guys, I wouldn't get to worked up over the difference between 42-12 & 35-12. If you let that get to you....you're probably gonna melt down Beast style when you travel to Creston. Good luck against Northwestern next week, that should be a nice measuring stick. A game against another young team. Also congrats on the golf title.....I thought Dane Hammer was a football player....guess I'm a little out of touch.

    Smithville/Waynedale......
Looks like somebody made a statement!!!!.....Hillsdale/Smithville will be next weeks BIG WCAL game.

    Hillsdale....
They may not be as flashy as last year.....but all they've done so far is win and taken criticism for it. I wouldn't count them out.

    Norwayne....
61-7 victory over Team Dennis. Gut check time for Waynedale.

    Northwestern/Chippewa.....
I heard the 50/50 was $12 bucks......and NWN finally beat up on somebody. Hopefully Chippewa/Rittman will be everything Rittman/Mapleton wasn't.

and GASP......Orrville got upset!......the Orrville gang is going to be FIRED up. It could spell trouble for their next opponent.

last and least....Triway went down again....Alas, there's no reprieve in Shreve. Upcoming trip to CVCA isn't what the doctor ordered.
Naturally you missed the point bloody...............

What are the match-ups for next week?

i still think hillsdale is a very good team, but they can't feel real good about either line. They were unable to run inside on dalton and allowed the bulldogs to move the ball. Dalton is young overall, but the secondary is really, really young. Hillsdale was able to exploit this. Dalton has played hard all year and I think they will show major improvement next year. I will be curious to see how the games play out the rest of the season between waynedale, dalton, northwestern. I still think waynedale is the best of that group, but not as sure as I was last week. At this point, I think all three are better than the chipps and indians but time will tell.

    I never recommend drunk multi-quoting. :D

Damn! How much did you HAVE tonight?

Just goes to show the things that liquid courage will make you say. ;)

1_beast;908655 wrote:Ticked.....SURE...can they do anything about it...NOPE!!! Handicapped by Coaching...and absolutely outsized...

    Fair enough.

1_beast;908655 wrote:But this is about the 1st intelligent post i've seen from you regarding 2's and 3's and being battle tested...however...their 1's aren't battle tested...1 and done???

Well I don't really discuss the topic of 2s and 3s much, so that's not a surprise.

Norwayne 1-and-done? I hope not. I hope any team that makes the playoffs from the WCAL goes far.

    1_beast;908655 wrote:BUT YOU STILL DIDNT FINISH THE JOB....Titles...Bears 17....Smithies 15....(AFTER 6 IN A ROW)

We certainly did every year I was on the varsity squad and several years afterward.

I don't downplay the Bears' long, rich football tradition. They've been a great program for a long time.

1_beast;908655 wrote:FACT!!! FALCONS and BOBCATS BETTER WORRY!!! SCHROCKS SWAN SONG!!!

Here's hoping. Since the Week 1 loss, seems like most of the league has just seen Smithville as the spoiler team for either Hillsdale or Norwayne.

1_beast;908655 wrote:As far as the game tonight...you are right...SOMEONE did make a statement....
Platoon much (last 2 years) (stop Smithvilles running game???? Never...) AND COACH ZUERCHER QUIT ON HIS TEAM TONIGHT......When Smithville scored in the 3rd ...Z took off his headset and NEVER PUT IT BACK ON!!!! QUITTER!!!!!!! He should run laps for that, as he would make the kids do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't there last night (wish I could have been), but I knew Coach Zuercher. I'd be sad to hear he quit on his team, as he's a good coach and a good guy.

Fair enough. Team loyalty comes first.

    Beast.....
Not a big rep guy.....but the "IPA snoot" comment was amusing....... scratch the rep......site won't let me

    1486.....
The shake out for spots 4, 5 & 6 is going to be interesting. I also think Waynedale will probably grab 4th place. After this week I'm thinking Dalton is the favorite against Northwestern......but the Huskies are kind of an enigma. The 2 teams that utterly destroyed them are undefeated D4 playoff hopefuls and they played decent against Mogadore (3-2) & Crestview (5-0).
that being said.....since it sounds like the Dawgs are getting better every week...they have to be considered the favorite on Friday.

Surely would be nice to get one pick vote in the DR Friday!

The Bobcats varsity played less the two quarters and held Rittman to -25 yards and 0 first downs. Second half playing bobcat freshman the score was 7 to 7 tie. With the final score Bobcats 61… Rittman 7, I see the future of Rittman football being open enrollment. Bobcats Stalk!

    Hmmm....maybe some redistricting would help.

Yeah beating Rittman isn't such a big accomplishment these days. (Sorry madman and demoralizer)

Coach Zuercher is a good person. Don't know enough about the situation to know if he a good coach. What I do see is very low numbers. Really good athletes in the freshman and sophmore classes and none want to play football. People I know say the kids won't play for the coach. Again, I am not close enough to know but something is not right.
  • Bobcat3
Looks like the hot ticket is going to be in Jville next Friday, I think I may roll down there to watch that game. I dout there's going to be much excitement watching Norwaynes starters play 2 and a half quarters again.;)

He's not a new coach, and there have been plenty of tough, talented players who were more than willing to play for him. Wasn't he around when Hendrix was there?

I know I'm not a Golden Bear, but I've seen the guy coach, and how he coaches doesn't seem to be the problem. If there are kids who refuse to play for him, maybe they would be the problem. I know that, throughout the years, there have been talented players who wouldn't play for Schrock because he and his staff would make them work as hard as everyone else, and would give them no special treatment (like not practicing during the week meant you wouldn't get to play on Friday, no matter how good you were).

I can't attest to that being the case with Waynedale's situation, but you're ALWAYS going to have people, players and parents and other fans alike, blaming the coaching when things go south. Doesn't mean they're right, though.

I'm already getting excited about it! Can't wait to get to Jeromesville to watch a matchup between two great teams with playoff implications on the line!

My oh my, Beast...what a sad example for a supposed Bear fan. You should really join all the other KNOW-IT-ALLS who hang out along the fence during games. You know, the ones who never amounted to squat in high school? You can relate to those kind, can't you? My favorite one of that group is the Yetti who does nothing but yell the same thing, game after game..."Quit running the ball!" What a clown!

Do you really think that Coach Z QUIT on his kids tonight? Do you really believe that? This guy played and now coaches harder than anybody I know. Take it from someone who is VERY CLOSE to the situation...you need to stop saying the things you say on these forums. It will get to the point where you will not be welcomed AT ALL. Actually, I think it is to that point. Word about your rants on this forum has gotten to the "people at the top" and trust me, they aren't happy. You have family members that are close to the situation...think about what you are doing to them! You are making it very uncomfortable for them.

Please remember who the leaders really are of this team...the seniors. Just like any other athletic team, you are only as good as your seniors. Our "leaders" are the same ones who had to have their senior group picture re-taken because they thought it would be cool to have "hand gestures" in the picture. THEN, some of their parents couldn't understand what the big deal was. They thought they were being singled out. Are you kidding me??? Our kids are prepared just as good, if not better, than any other team in the league. As a coach, he can only do so much. The bottom line is this...the players HAVE TO PERFORM WHEN IT COUNTS. The last 2 years, we haven't had enough POSITIVE senior leadership. Let's just throw it out there. You know it and I know it...that is the problem with the Bears right now. We don't have anyone who wants to step up and get the job done. We just have a bunch of people who want to blame the coach! Give me a break!!!

In beast's defense, I'm pretty sure he was shnockered when he posted all that.

O-Trap...he is pretty much "shnockered" all the time. STILL, that is no excuse for saying the things that he says. He has singled out Coach Z on here on other occasions. You should hear him at the games while he sits in the stands.

I am just wondering what will happen if the wrestling season doesn't go the way he would like it to...will he then blame the wrestling coach?!?!?!?

I'd be coming straight from work, up in Fairlawn/Montrose. It's quite a drive, so I might not get there long before the game starts, but it'd be nice to meet some of the other WCAL fans on OC.
