But on a wet night the offense has the advantage simply because they KNOW where they are going (blocking, running, etc) where as the defense has to guess. It is easier to move on a wet surface when you know where your supposed to go..Mr. Russell;907834 wrote:Also when it is wet it is tougher for Smithville's guards and tackles to pull in the wing-t offense, as well as all of the misdirection to occur, so it could be a negative to both teams. Probably moreso for Waynedale though. -
Red RumOn the Huskies-
I agree with leaguechamps in that Thut isn't a problem. The man has been a blessing to the program. That being said, the offense hasn't been quite as explosive since the loss of the assistant who used to call the plays a few years back.
Another factor probably being overlooked is the schedule has been beefed up considerably in recent years. The Huskies haven't played any patsies in the first 4 weeks... (14-2) opp combined record.
Finally, the one everyone hates to think is true, but could be...the 2005-07 teams were just more talented than the teams since.
Other thoughts-
I was leafing through the COW game day program and I noticed a Dennis coaching the WRs. Any relation to the "Team Murderer" over in Rittman? -
OQB
Absolutely! Everyone wants to say the offense will struggle in the rain, when in reality the rain should have no impact on the way they play. With the new footballs they have now rain only makes the ball tackier, which makes it easier to grip and throw, or catch, or hold on to. I hate when people use rain as the excuse for not executing. I loved playing in the rain.Old Rider;907890 wrote:But on a wet night the offense has the advantage simply because they KNOW where they are going (blocking, running, etc) where as the defense has to guess. Sidenote: Chief Dennis' screen play should work tonight because everyone knows where they are going! -
Bobcat3I think this rain will help Rittmans offense tonight against the Bobcats, Rittman may be able to stay within 6 or 7 TD's of them tonight.....
-
OQBMy predictions for tonight:
Bobcats Stalk! Chief Dennis and the Indians can't slow down Bobcats.
Falcons Soar! Falcons have no trouble in dominating the bulldogs.
Bears Roar! Bears execute a perfect game winning drive ending in a FG for victory.
Huskies Drink....oh wait that's just their fans Coach Thut get's the boys ready and won't let them lose against the Chips. -
sydflEasy guys....never said it was Thut anywhere in that post. You jump too quick. There are 9 coaches over there running around and most have a different philosophy than the next. There is a lack of control though to go along with a lack of discipline..yes, I put that on coaches. So, how many sub post years do you get before you stop blaming the kids? Just a healthy question, don't get to fired up.....lol. Good luck to all WCAL tonight except the chips. Please don't have your game of the year.
That being said, I agree above that NW has not had the easiest of schedules just yet. I believe all 4 we have played so far are playoff bound. -
THE4RINGZGo Big Blue.
Huskies stalk. -
1_beastBeast is a little FIRED up!!!! Them Smithville kids Vandalized Bear Country!!!! Our Rock got painted hideous looking Smithville colors. Now if that aint bad enough....the Green bus showed up....unloaded....and those kkids had the nerve to infiltrate The Bears home turf...casully strolled into our endzone touching the goal post......HAD TO NERVE to walk the length of the field ACROSS the Midfield "W"....and into the other endzone....AGAIN touching the goal post!!!!!
I hope they enjoyed it...because they wont be getting into the endzone that easy tonight!!!!
GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!
-
O-TrapLOL Smithville does that at every field, home or away. It's simply a tradition.
Will there be updates? -
FalconWaynedale getting spanked bad by Smithville 14-0 in first quarter. So much for the bear talk.
-
Red RumYeah, Smithville is skinning the Bears 21-0 at halftime
Game can be heard on 104.5 website. -

Hey, half has been played. If Smithville can score 21 in a half, then there is enough time for Waynedale to score 21 in a half as well.THE4RINGZ;908360 wrote:Ut-oh
I AM curious how many rushing yards Smithville has so far. They've been averaging almost 400 a game so far, if I'm not mistaken. -
Red RumSmithville has 194 rushing yds at halfime, 214 total
-
O-TrapSounds about right. I'm actually surprised they don't have 214 rushing yards and 214 total yards. Those runners are ridiculous.
-
Red RumIt's now getting ugly,
Waynedale fumbled on opening 2nd half drive, Smithville then punched it in several plays later. 28-0 early 3rd.
This may not end up being the closest WCAL contest tonight.
in other action per the radio,
Hillsdale over Dalton 21-6 at half
Ashland rolling WH 24-7 at half
Tuslaw blanking Triway 13-0 at half
Norwayne is spanking the Tribe 40-0 at half -
O-TrapAny word on Northwestern-Chippewa? That was my pick for the closest game.
-
O-Trap**Final**
Smithville - 42
Waynedale - 0 -
1486wdhillsdale 42 dalton 12 when i left
bulldogs fought all game long and actually played hillsdale's run pretty decent. they showed their youth in the passing game though and gave up way too many big passing plays, though. not sure what happened to moyer though as i didn't see him play after half. -
1_beastIm mad as hell....I'll take my crow with chili and cheese......better post coming later
-
Red RumSmithville female dog slapped Waynedale 42-0. SMV-354 rush yds, 393 total yds. Didn't see that one coming.
Some big OCC upsets-
Madison 27-26 over Wooster
West Holmes 35-31 over Ashland
Mansfield Sr 21-14 over Orrville. That thread is gonna interesting tonight.
Tuslaw tops Triway 21-7
Hillsdale 42-12 over Dalton
Northwestern 35-7 over Chippewa
Don't know the final score but last I heard Norwayne was up 46-0 on Rittman -
OQBSurprising results tonight in some games....lol
As for us riders...we are on a wild roller coaster ride! Unbeatable one week, Rittman's twin brother the next. -
dhs22pHillsdale won 42-12 tonight. Dalton went on an 80 yard opening drive to take a 6-0 lead. Hillsdale did come back to take a 21-6 lead at half. But if Im a Falcon fan I would not be happy about tonight cause the Dalton O-line did pretty well against Hillsdale's D-line. Great effort by the Dogs! Dalton's best game by far! Did not appreciate Hillsdale throwing for their last TD in the middle of the fourth. Didn't prove anything by doing it..... just appeared to make it look like less of a game. Great game Dogs if we play like this next week we will get our first W!

Moyer changed jerseys. He was out there.1486wd;908412 wrote:hillsdale 42 dalton 12 when i left

Hillsdale is good. No question, the scoreboard says that. They have the goods.
However, wondering if they were laying back a little tonight. Maybe had some kids with light injuries that they wanted healthy later on so kept them out? They rotated lots of kids in and out, could tell by clean jerseys, maybe that's how they do it against a weaker team. So many kids out! Good for them! The second team coming in were still juniors. Anyway, I haven't see Norwayne play at all, but the Falcons I saw tonight are going to have trouble against the Bobcats if that was full strength Falcons.
Dalton took the ball straight to the endzone first drive. Looked as good as they have yet this year. It felt good. And Dalton played them pretty tough considering their size. Moyer and company moved the chains on most possessions tonight and our defense actually forced a number of punts. I'm much more hopeful re: the rest of the season.
College boy's roomie from Waynedale said Smithville thumped Bears. Wow, not expecting that. Thinking Smithville is the spoiler, Hillsdale better watch for them too, unless, like I said, they were laying back tonight. -

These two statements contradict each other.
In that case, they actually did okay against the run ... at least compared to most schools Smithville has played.Red Rum;908415 wrote:Smithville female dog slapped Waynedale 42-0. SMV-354 rush yds, 393 total yds. Didn't see that one coming.
I was actually surprised to hear how close Dalton kept it for most of the game. I'm also surprised that the Northwestern-Chippewa game wasn't closer.Red Rum;908415 wrote:Hillsdale 42-12 over Dalton

Yikes. I hope those Indians don't get discouraged and have participation issues next year.
I'm betting in it.dhs22p;908422 wrote:Hillsdale won 42-12 tonight. Dalton went on an 80 yard opening drive to take a 6-0 lead. Hillsdale did come back to take a 21-6 lead at half.
