CAMPBELL MEMORIAL 2011

omemorialhighi think we need to tred lightly with all the gossip and speculation on this site. maybe no senior leadership currently exists, but i didnt expect it. lets not forget this junior class was kind of overlooked, and before last year the only thing jales was known for was being lesters little brother and fumbling against lakeview. these kids dont know how to lead just yet and maybe they never will, but the reality of the matter is we lost a ton of seniors...a ton. if we finish 6-4 and ill consider that a good season with a large junior and sophmore class. 7-3 will be a great season. lets temper expectations...were not that far from being 1-9 every other year. this is a rebuilding process and sikoras stamp wont truly be shown until these 8th and 9th graders make it up. the main proof that i know sikora is doing his due diligence is that a few eighth graders were heavily recruited and are staying red devils. no one was lost. huge plus. give this staff some time...these kids havent had a full career under sikora. things dont change in a year. i know guys like to speculate about rumors on hear and everyone gets worked up...but most of these rumors were wrong. not too long ago almost everyone on here was saying shaq and/or jales were as good as gone to mooney.

Can't argue with this post one bit, with one exception, we did lose Ben Phillips to Ursuline. His whole family pretty much goes there and from what I heard his uncle is on the football staff. Believe me when I say, this kid is going to be a special player once he develops.
As far as leadership goes, I'll correct myself by saying we have none.....YET. At least nobody who really has stood out and taken on the responsibility. I will say, as juniors, McWilson and Horvath have really taken a leadership type role with this team.
Word from the passing scrimmage is that Reyes looked REALLY good, and it looks as if the starting job is his to lose.
Need to keep the egos in check, heard there was a little scuffle at practice the other day. Too many Terrell Owens type 'me-first' players on this team right now and not enough team-first players.
Still haven't heard about that 'good news' but I will say another dose of it is on the way.

reddevil90Campbell should go anyplace from 7-3 to undefeated. the AAC blue is going to be even this year! The conference other then Girard lost tons of experience. We should fair well in the Blue conference. Its Mineral ridge and south range and girard we have to worry about. ! Trust me on that.
Has anyone talk to any of the coaches? Have they said what they think yet? -
omemorialhighdidnt know we lost phillips...but no one should be surprised if he has family ties. sikora told me we didnt lose anyone

reddevil90Until the state puts a stop to parents sending there kids to supposedly live with relatives in other school districts. Nothing we can do. I still think they need to put a stop to it. If someone finds out that you just faked living with a relative to play football or any sports then you should be ineligible. I think there is a rule about that but nothing is ever done. once in a while someone gets caught. But not too many times.

A rule like that has no effect on parochial schools. Kids don't need to 'fake addresses' to attend. They just need to run, throw, catch or shoot. -

Were in good hands! Biggest surprise was Zetts could have applied for the Struthers coaching job and more then likely would have nailed it. But he he stayed and that shows a lot of what kind of dedication these coaches have for the Campbell football teams! Remember these are struthers guys! Never thought in a million years Zetts would have a hand in leading Campbell back to the playoffs! -

Struthers came hard after Zetts AND Sikora......FACT
You got lucky you landed a coach the caliber of Asher. -

I know for a fact the he never applied for it but was approached by the Struthers Board. sorry dude but that is the Truth. -
BTrevHmmm... I'm not gonna say anything about whether or not Coach Zetts was or wasn't offered the job, because I straight up don't know.
I have as much respect for Coach Zetts as any former player would, maybe more. He gave me a chance, at a very young age, to have a place in the press box, watch from the sidelines, and be an unofficial team mascot of sorts. I still have the game ball from Struthers's 18-0 win over Campbell in 2000. I can't say enough about him.
Next time he wants to talk football with the Struthers kids in class though, maybe they should leave him hanging. If what the Campbell guys are saying is true, he was offered both the AD job and a coaching job at Struthers... and he turned them both down. He had the chance to talk football with them all he wanted.
If he didn't want the HC duties, that's one thing. If he declined because he's still holding a grudge against the district because of what Dibacco did... then that's not cool. Especially since Dibacco and her goons are gone.
If Coach Zetts ever does decide to return to Struthers as an AD or an assistant coach in some capacity, I, and virtually everyone else in Struthers, would welcome him back with open arms. Until that happens, as long as he's in Campbell, he's an enemy... -
omemorialhighi dont know anything about zetts...either way it doesnt matter. wouldnt of blamed him for going back for a HC and AD job...i mean would you turn down that extra cash? prob not. but sikora i know for a fact was called the day after the campbell/struthers game and asked to come back. he shot them down. the proof is in the pudding. in all fairness asher has a full plate on his hands esp with struthers schedule with all the big boys next year...open enrollment hurt them. why would sikora want to start all over?
-
omemorialhighbtrev...got to give you props on your posts. very well spoken and detailed. welcome to the chatter.

BTrevThanks omemorialhigh.

reddevil90Guys got to remember something. Campbell has a very good future coming up soon. those JV teams from what i heard are a very fast strong and big bunch! just remember these kids are not inexperienced. all them have played 8th and 9th grade football. and they are experienced. not at the varsity level yet. but they will be fine. ill take a player that has 8th 9th grade experience over no experience like Campbell had to do for years without a 8th and 9th grade football team. Insert Mooney and Ursuline staying away from those freshmen players.
Also just heard PJ Quinn will be more then likely starting for Mooney. Good for him. Hope he does well.
I just happen to catch a video on wytv about Campbell. It is not listed and is not shown. But if you watch the champion preview and when its over it will show a list of more preview not listed. Campbell was there. And the coach believes our defense will be special this year. we have 45 kids on the team as of now. and we have lots of skill players and size. he thinks we should be fine. they interview the kicker Ja'les and litlow. and none believe they can not repeat and go further. they believe the defense will be there strong point for one. this is the coach saying this. i take that from the coach before anyone. and there is people stepping up as leaders in the senior group. we should be just fine. and Ja'les looks a little bigger this year. wow the kid will have a big X on his back this year. And Reyes from everything i understand from what the coach said will start and like what he sees fro him. he also said the Reyes and the JV team is not use to losing and going 8-1 should help. Nothing about Patton at all. As i know he is in Florida right now. But it looks all good in Devil country -

BigDean1Fellas, why can't we just stay on the topic of the upcoming season? The coaches are in place. The players are in place. Let's talk about the upcoming season which is shaping up to be a good one. Campbell and Ursuline could very well clash in the playoffs if all goes well for each team during the season. Both have some holes to fill but have some great players returning. If that game should happen, there will be an immense amount of talent on that field.

Dean i respect you i hope you know that. but he just thinks i talk just to talk. I love my Devils and will fight tooth and nail to support them. I drive hours each year to support them. I don't need some young kid telling me off on a forum cause he thinks i don't know anyone close to the situation. The sad truth is i know more about Stuthers situation cause of my Ex In laws. More then i care to know. With that said im dont on that subject. I Respect Spread i hope he feels the same.
OK I seen the previews and seen a kid that was bigger then anyone i seen on the team last year. Must be a first year walk on or he came up from JV's Coach also said he like the defense this year. They like the defense that much and thats great news. also was nice to Ja'les back out on the field. with everyone. 45 kids out this year on the team. tons of seniors and leadership is improving. I like what I'm hearing from the coach. i think we might just see the Ursuline Campbell game. Also forgot looks more like Rayes is QB!! 8-1 as a starter at the JV level. Does anyone know if Shawndale Ray came out again this year. I hope so i don't know why but that kid excites me.
