2017 Browns Off-Season Thread

That article was written because the Browns have cap and assets to do it. Why would the Redskins be so willing to get rid of him he if he's a "franchise" QB?

They aren't willing to get rid of him that's why they keep franchising him. Snyder is trying to avoid a long term deal because he still believes 2 years in a row of proving himself isn't enough to finally say that he's "earned" a long term deal.

Cousin's is the only one who is asking for a trade here. And yes, he's below .500 but look how shit his team is and he's still putting up top 5 QB stats. I'd trade a lot for Cousins if the Redskins are willing because I think he can turn the franchise around here.

Cousins will be 29 by the start of the season...if we are committing to a 3 year rebuild, a 29 year old sub .500 QB shouldn't be apart of the plan. Cousin's has a hardon for Shanny though, so doubt he commits to a multi year deal with Browns in a trade. Side note...why is the Osweiller deal so hard for the talking heads to grasp? The Browns can hold him for 16 mill a year with no pain except for Haslam's checkbook or wait for a team to call needing a backup/emergency starter for what will be 8 mill a year.

And Brady is 40, your point? Cousins could easily last another 8 years and provides the quickest way to turn this team into a contender. The Browns need a QB and Cousins is the only one potentially on the market that has proven himself in the league. The draft is full of shit tier QBs and next year, while slightly better, still gives us a big ? on the QB spot.

Take the proven commodity; draft Garrett and win a Super Bowl.

I'd love Cousins, but would want a deal in hand first.

Wouldn't trade a 1st and two 2nds or whatever for Brady either.

Well yeah. There's no way you do that trade without a long term deal in place.

I certainly would. Tom Brady would make the Browns a Super Bowl contender instantly.

None of these QB's in this draft thrill me. Watson is a noodle arm and Trubisky is going to need a ton of work. Mahomes is pretty raw and will likely need even more work.

Kind of why I've been in the camp to trade for Garoppolo. Some of the "let's roll with Kessler and get the QB in 2018" shit I hear makes me want to absolutely vomit. Yeah, wait around for Darnold who either decides he's staying another year or falls off and isn't the "sure thing."

If you draft a QB that high (assuming top 12) you want him on the field ASAP. I don't want some guy sitting & learning behind a Kessler or Osweiler.

The sooner they get the guy in place, the better.

One thing that is never mentioned with Kessler, 2 concussions in his rookie yr. He missed a bunch of games, not a great sign. I don't have the idea of Davis Webb in the 2nd/3rd, or Mahomes. More I hear about Kizer, less I like. Watson sucks, and Turbisky doesn't excite me as I don't see him as a high end guy. Sort of leaves me with Webb/Mahomes by default.

Too many second rounders? If he becomes a franchise QB, will you bitch that we have up too many second rounders?

I fucking love that trade. But then again, I think jimmy G is gonna be a stud. Some people who think he won't be any good probably hate that trade. It's all about how you feel about him as our QB.

Obviously the O-line did the QB's no favors but Kessler didn't help him with how long he holds the ball....part of the reason for the two concussions.

As far as that proposed trade...if they think JG's the guy, you do it and don't look back. I wouldn't want to part with #33 but if you have to, you do it. There are no QB's in this draft that look that good and I don't want a project.

Just sick of these dog shit sandwiches under center. End this misery.

    Jimmy G sucks. I'd trade a 3rd rounder at best for him...in 2018.
  • Crimson streak
I still think we can get jimmy without giving up the 12th pick. The 33 52 and Houston's 2nd next year I think gets it done

The QB you are looking for is Kirk Cousin's. I'd do the trade proposed above but without the giving up the #52 this year. They can have a later draft pick this year in exchange.

Cousins, JG, who gives a shit. Make a trade for either one and let's see some decent offensive football.

Do nothing and keep rolling out shitty QB's and we'll continue to suck

Pretty much this. I'm to the point where they could put the devil under center as long as he's good.....and not a rapist. ;)

It's risk reward. Obviously I wouldn't bitch but we aren't a qb away. So you trade 4 playmaker spots for a question mark at qb. I'm fine with 12 and a 2nd, 3 2nds is a hard pill to swallow when we need a lot.

Historically, 2/4 of those picks will turn out to be bad picks. And it'd be extremely rare if one of those two picks turned out to be an elite player. Odds are probably even lower for the browns because browns.

If we have a chance to grab a franchise QB, you wouldn't do it because we risk losing 1-2 good players? You wouldn't want a franchise QB to be able to draft a good DE and right tackle?

    Come the fuck on!!!

Historically, backup QBs who have been traded are good much less than 2/4.

    Cousins isn't a backup QB.

The trade in the article wasn't about cousins. I'd make that trade for cousins.

So would I. I'd also make the trade for JG.
