2016 Browns Season Thread

I guess my question is why are you looking for that answer on October 15, 2016?Benny The Jet;1816209 wrote:No, but at this point last year...most people knew there were about 3 decent QB's. Goff was a big name you heard from beginning of the year...then Lynch was the other name a lot of people were talking about, due to play and winning games at Memphis. I'd say Wentz name started popping up around this time last year, didn't it?
Also, the original question was "Any chance the Browns move forward thinking Kessler is their man?"
Can we at least wait until 3 career games for Kessler to make a decision on him? Can we wait for more than 5 college football games to evaluate the QB pool? And can we at least wait until our scouts can grade out the QB's instead of just relying on tape against shitty college defenses? -

Good grief man...this is a message board for discussion. You're right...only comments about Bengals this week. Nothing else. No looking forward or actually trying to think about the future of this franchise who is 0-6....because the now is so fun!!!!! You my man, are the worst. Go on...talk about nothing but the upcoming game.SportsAndLady;1816214 wrote:I guess my question is why are you looking for that answer on October 15, 2016?

Crimson streakAll I know is I want nothing to do with Watson. Absolutely terrible against pressure. Im all for miles garrett if the front office feels like no qb is worth taking this year at number 1

I think his point(and its a valid point) is that its too early to tell on Kessler being a competent NFL QB.Benny The Jet;1816215 wrote:Good grief man...this is a message board for discussion. FWIW, I'd rather have Kessler than waste a draft pick on Kizer or Watson. These two will be busts and you can take that to the bank. -

I mean, feel free to talk about the upcoming draft. I've made several comments on it.Benny The Jet;1816215 wrote:Good grief man...this is a message board for discussion. I'm just wondering why you're taking things as gospel a year before the draft. -
Benny The Jet
I'm not taking anything as gospel. There's literally about 0 to talk about with this team so far this year. They're bad...they're injured...they're playing for next year. Just trying to have some sort of conversation that doesn't revolve around how crappy they are right now.SportsAndLady;1816219 wrote:I mean, feel free to talk about the upcoming draft. This is the comment I found so laughable. "We're at the midway point guys! Definitely can make an educated guess now at who the top QB's are going to be!!"Benny The Jet;1816200 wrote:We're at the mid-way point in the college season, and I don't see a clear #1 QB to me...definitely not someone I'd have to have at #1. -

Well fine, it is of my opinion that talking about QB draft prospects a year in advance is stupid. There's my input into this conversation lolBenny The Jet;1816220 wrote:I'm not taking anything as gospel. There's literally about 0 to talk about with this team so far this year. Not only that, but there is a lot more clarity this year imo, than last class.SportsAndLady;1816207 wrote:Is the NFL draft tomorrow and no one told me?
Go back to last year on October 15th and see who the top QB prospects were. You can't look a year before the draft and say the draft is loaded or not loaded at a particular position. It just doesn't work that way. -

I really don't mind talking about next year's draft class. I just hate when people say "the *insert position here* position is weak/strong!"Benny The Jet;1816232 wrote:Appreciate your input.
You can't generalize an entire draft class a year before the draft lol
I guarantee you a QB that we haven't mentioned emerges as a top 3 pick. Happens every year. -
SonofanumpGood loss, came close to keep those in the fan base who want wins satisfied, one more step to 0-16.

You could argue the issue isn't just the QB; its the line being shit and the playmakers being shit. Even Andrew Luck can't do jack shit with his garbage O-line and garbage defense.SportsAndLady;1816237 wrote:I really don't mind talking about next year's draft class. That's why I'm not all in on a QB no matter what. I could make a HUGE list of teams who were 'QB no matter what' and it ultimately bit them in the ass. -

True, but I think most anointed Luck as the next face of the NFL a bit too prematurely. A talent no doubt and many teams would like to have but maybe not as great as first advertised....sleeper;1816252 wrote:You could argue the issue isn't just the QB; its the line being shit and the playmakers being shit. Agreed 100% on this. Need the Bears to win at least 1 more game, and I think we're set at #1.Sonofanump;1816248 wrote:Good loss, came close to keep those in the fan base who want wins satisfied, one more step to 0-16. -
Laley23Luck has a bad line, but he also holds the ball WAY to long, loves his 7-step drops, and doesnt like to check-down (when its appropriate). He has his own issues he needs to fix. The left side (Castonzo and Mewhort) are actually grading out/playing very well this season. And Kelly at C is getting better every game.

As of now, I'm in this mindset unless a QB comes out and blows everyone away in the 2nd half of the season/combine. My initial line of thought was "QB #1 no matter what" but as of now, I don't think there's one worth taking #1 overall. Which lead me to, who else is out there in other positions that would be worth the #1 pick if it weren't a QB?sleeper;1816252 wrote:

He's also won more playoff games in one year than the Browns have won since their return in 1999.Laley23;1816258 wrote:Luck has a bad line, but he also holds the ball WAY to long, loves his 7-step drops, and doesnt like to check-down (when its appropriate). I agree with the last part of your statement. Watson is pure garbage.Commander of Awesome;1816264 wrote:Any love for UNC QB mitch trubisky? From Mentor Ohio. Right now he's actually my favorite QB prospect. Watson sucks. -

The Browns will pull a Cleveland Browns and trade it back for a few garbage picks and a bunch of mediocre players from the Jets.Benny The Jet;1816259 wrote:As of now, I'm in this mindset unless a QB comes out and blows everyone away in the 2nd half of the season/combine. He's definitely a guy to keep an eye on. I don't think he will jump up into top 5 though. I could see him being a late 1 early 2nd rounder. Kessler has actually impressed me quite a bit. Not saying he's a franchise guy but he's played pretty well. That's why I feel if no one emerges as the top qb I'm taking miles Garrett who is a game changer on defense.Commander of Awesome;1816264 wrote:Any love for UNC QB mitch trubisky? From Mentor Ohio. Depends on where Kessler finishes the year. I see no point to start saying which prospect we definitely need/QB to draft at this point. Pretty futile conversation. I'll say this, if we continue to be 0 and whatever, Kessler ain't elevating the team.Crimson streak;1816280 wrote:He's definitely a guy to keep an eye on. Kessler reminds me a lot of Alex smith. Won't win you games by himself but keeps you in games and manages the game. I definitely love his accuracy though.Commander of Awesome;1816287 wrote:Depends on where Kessler finishes the year.
