He didn't rape girls in Georgia bathrooms. I honestly don't care if the browns hire him or not.

Tl;dr you're upset bc of your political affiliation. Got it. Great thing about facts, they're true whether you agree with them or not.like_that;1815405 wrote:Deflecting? You asked me a quesiton and I answered it lolfail. You told me to give you examples, and I did. Hillary was the freshest example that came to me. Don't get butt hurt because the truth hurts. You pick and choose when to get offended.
lol politifact checking trump's quote is your way of deflecting her being a POS btw. The women themselves made the claim. You're not going to believe them, but believe everyone else when it comes to sexual assault (i.e. rapistberger)? Like I said, choosing when to get offended. As for the Indians and wahoo don't root for the team if it is so derogatory. You don't act like a offensive cry baby like you did with the redskins. Btw polls show that native americans don't give a fuck about the redskins name. And actually polls showed less people started to care once the Skins started to win again, but keep up the fight for something that has nothing to do with you! I am sure I can come up with other examples, but the whole point is the hypocrisy coming out of your cry baby storm.
As for JoePa, I am not condoning what he did, neither with Art. You are having a difficult time distinguishing between not condoning something and not being dramatic about it.
Also, 30+ years of hiding child molestation is not even close to what Art did, but that's another argument for another time.
I guess the plain dealer is a "cry baby" too.

It's a good approach for the over sensitive to take when it comes to rooting interests in sports. If you can't handle it then you are more than welcome to find another source of entertainment.

HereticI'd say that, in essence, a big difference between the Briles/Clinton/Ben comparisons is the issue of timing.
Clinton: Allegations against Bill were a long time ago. Generally led to nothing (except for where he paid a settlement to Paula Jones). Suddenly get brought up (much like the Trump "p*ssy" comments) shortly before an election -- not in a legal sense, but in an opportunistic "you want to elect THIS?!?!" attempt to hurt a candidate's voter base. People in general (ie: anyone not a hardcore pro-Trumpster): apathetic.
Ben: Incidents happened a few years ago. Legally, didn't lead to anything except one settlement of which details apparently never were released (just going off Wiki) and a league suspension. Usually just gets brought up now as a "you want to cheer for THAT?!?!" sort of razzing. People in general: apathetic.
Briles: Incidents have happened recently. He and other Baylor officials were canned this year. Fallout is still happening -- wasn't it last week when someone resigned because they alleged the school was impeding their attempts to get answers? He and others (like Ken Starr -- bringing things full-circle w/ the Clinton mention!) have more-or-less acted like they didn't do a single thing wrong and, therefore, were the true victims. If this was 2020, odds are the general reaction would be apathetic but because this is shortly after all the Baylor news came out, it's not "old news" enough for the apathy towards it to set in and there's still outrage over a dude running a team with a ton of under-investigated sexual assault claims while keeping his head in the sand. -

Dude, Doc was my all time favorite and sported #16 because of him. Local guy got drafted by the Mets in '84, got to catch Gooden in spring training. When he would be back in town in the winter, knowing I was a looked up to those guys, he told me that 'one day I will tell you how they really are'. SUcks as a kid seeing your "idol" do so much shit wrong. BTW..you see Doc and Darryl 30/30? I knew it was bad...but never realized how bad.Ironman92;1815408 wrote:Damn lol.
Professional athletes will rip your heart and morals apart. It's always been that way. Growing up some of my favorite players: Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Vince Coleman....you know what screw it, too depressing and numerous to name the probable 100 athletes. So so many are spoiled or entitled or unable to handle the wealth coming from crap or just unable to break from the crap.
Even the ones you feel are damn near perfect athletes make you look stupid if you get attached. Roberto Alomar was my favorite player. He could do it all, then he fucking spits in front of the whole world on an umpire (later more than atoned but still)
I bought my 2 year old son a Michael Vick jersey...he looked awesome in it, then he's killing dogs SMH.
Again, 100's of examples. On the flip side the perfect type athletes are hated (Manning, Jeter, Ripken). I'm convinced there are zero teams with zero assholes, thugs, druggies, womanizers, cheaters etc.
I'm a goody two shoes that doesn't condone any of that nonsense but it's beyond rampant throughout the sports. I think it's dumb as hell and irresponsible as hell that LeVeon Bell keeps getting busted for weed but I'm able to be happy as fuck when he rushes for 120 and adds 80 yards receiving...And I've never even smoked a cigarette.
To enjoy sports, especially in this day and age with the ridiculous amount of social media info...you can't get too personal. I love dogs but still rooted for Michael Vick on every team he's played for. Some of you act like whatever the horrible activity the athlete did was to you or your significant other in your anger.
Before social media and quite honestly this site...I knew little to nothing about so many of the horrible things athletes have done. I always just watched the game, highlights and checked box scores. Yeah I heard about Pacman getting in trouble like 7 or 8 times but can't tell you what he did in any of them....I assume he's done the time or he wouldn't be playing or maybe he had the luxury to get out of stuff me or you couldn't...I don't know. I just like the games. I have little desire to know what they do off the field as long as they do the time if they do the crime.
I've despised the Browns since 1982 and hate druggies but I truly hope Josh Gordon finds a way to turn it around. I hope Vick keeps doing the right thing. I want Brandon Phillips to quit having kids in every state. I want LeBron to quit flopping and bitching about calls. I want Aroldis Chapman to be good to women and learn to speak English. I want James Harrison to help the opponent up. I want Joey Votto to fucking smile...but the negative be it small or prison worthy is rampant. I don't condone any of it and give good effort in ignoring it.
Lastly, I blame the news outlets. These guys are nonstop do I g great things with their money, power and high profile contacts. You might hear 1 out of every 100 good thing they are doing but not only do you hear every negative thing a high profile athlete does....they dwell on it ad nauseum.
Speaking of Chapman and speaking English......heard Encarnacion interview the other day and that fucker STILL cant speak english. WOnder if he picked up french though while up there!
As for bringing Briles in to "guest coach"......Putting aside all the shitstorm around him does it send out an odd message to your team when this supposed offensive guru, Hue Jackson, is hired and within 5 weeks of the season he already is out of ideas/ways to improve and get the best out of that offense? -

This is where the useful idiot comment comes into play. Did you even read the article? It literally says nothing, especially why the name was changed. I know why, because Dr. Ellison (the author of your link just in case you didn't even read it) was one of my professors at Miami and we went over the topic. This article doesn't even brush the surface on the name change. Miami University's name is dedicated to the Miami Tribe. They have maintained a relationship with the tribe since its founding. Over the course of Miami's time a small minority like you (white people with no connection to the natives) cried foul about the mascot name. The Miami tribe's response in a nutshell? "We dgaf, because we know its not used as a derogatory term toward the miami tribe nor all native americans. Please understand context people...." Since then the Miami Tribe has migrated to several locations in the US and the only federally recognized branch is the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. It was the leader of the Oklahoma tribe in 1997 that asked the Miami president to change the name. In an effort to maintain a good standing relationship with the Miami Tribe, the president obliged. The relationship is still in good standing amongst many other reasons, and I even had the opportunity to meet the tribe leader.Commander of Awesome;1815501 wrote:Ok, back to the Washington team name, I'll just respond with a link to an ohio university who used to share the same name but decided to change in the 90's. http://miamioh.edu/about-miami/diversity/miami-tribe-relations/mascot-story/

This is an institution making their own decision to help maintain their relationship to a group of people that the University name has been dedicated to for over 200 years. Completely different from the Washington Redskins, where a large majority of native americans don't give a fuck about the name of a mascot of a random professional organization that has no connection to their tribe. There are more white SJWs like you that care about their name, than native americans care. I can't think of a better example of "going out of one's way to be offended." If you really were concerned, you wouldn't call them by their location either, because George Washington owned slaves. Might as well just call them Maryland, since they play in Maryland. I would say the native americans are probably much more concerned about alcoholism and poverty and a little more pissed about the manifest destiny than some mascot that white SJWs are taking completely out of context.
If you want to go ahead and get overworked about art go for it. None of us supported what he did and hell most of us probably agree with you, but we are not going to get our panties in a bunch as much as you are. The last 10+ years of the Browns is enough for any of us to get upset over. It's your wasted energy to go out of your way to get that upset, not ours. Go for it, but don't be shocked when people call you out for being an overdramatic crybaby. You can also just quit watching the NFL and other sports in general if it is that offensive. -

Dr. George Fathauer, a professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Miami University, met with Miami President Phillip R. Shriver in December 1971 and shared articles written by Native Americans about the racist nature of Indian related sports mascots. Fathauer suggested that the University abandon its use of the name Redskins along with all of the related symbolism. Dr. Shriver, a renowned Ohio historian, argued that any derogatory stereotyping was unintended, but he was very willing to consider the legitimacy of the complaints made by the articles Fathauer brought him. (photo by George Hoxie)
Shriver consulted the Athletic Advisory Board and that body’s general belief was that the use of Miami University's Indian symbols, “if produced and used as authentically and as proudly as possible, can be truly honorific and not in any sense derogatory.” Their final suggestion indicated that a nickname change would need to be made by a vote of the student body.
[h=2]Letter to the Editor[/h] In the April 4, 1972 edition of The Miami Student, Fathauer’s letter to the editor, Redskins and Hiawabop: Racism at Miami (PDF) appealed for the elimination of the use of the term Redskins and the appearances of the sideline Indian dancing character Hiawabop. Fathauer agreed with the Athletic Board that Miami University had never intended to derogate Indians. However he pointed out that “this is one of the most pervasive aspects of racism; the dominant group is not even aware that its stereotyping is objectionable to a minority.”
"
But that doesn't fit your narrative so what ever makes you feel better. Its like facts don't even matter when arguing with you. That being said, after being schooled about this, THIS ISNT EVEN ON TOPIC! The topic at hand is I don't like the browns bring a sexual assault enabler to HQ. If not being able to say that out loud offends you, for some unknown reason, I would suggest to block me. -

It still doesn't change the fact that 90% of native americans DGAF about the Washington Redskins mascot name, yet cry baby white sjws like you still want to make an issue out of it. It also doesn't change the fact you can't distinguish between a university making a decision based on their relationship with a tribe and a professional sports team mascot that most native americans do not find derogatory because they understand context. You bitch about how climate change naysayers reject facts such as 97% of scientists say it's real, yet you are rejecting that 90% of native americans dgaf about the mascot name. And facts dont matter to me? You posted a fucking person's opinion as fact. LOL, delusional and hypocritical at best. Can't wait for your next idiotic useful idiot link, which somehow exonerates your failed logic.
That being said, after being schooled about this, this isn't even on topic. The whole point of this was to let you know that you are being an over dramatic cry baby. I don't need to block you, I am not a sensitive cry baby like you are.
I think we have said enough on this. If you want to go out of your way to constantly be hypocritical and get offended then it's your freedom of choice to live life in misery. Nobody is stopping you. Time to move on to our shitty Browns team. All lost in the crying about Art is the fact that he isn't going to do shit to help this team win. Bitonio is out for an extended time, and now it doesn't sound like Kessler (an already shitty QB) will be even close to 100% when he is playing. It's a shame, because this game and the San Diego game are the only realistic shots left to win a game imo, especially with all these injuries. -
