Is it against the law to access or is the law broken when you use the information for your gain or to slander the other side?

I mean, if I accessed someone's username on this forum, am I really breaking the law? Who owns a random ID on a free website?

They broke the law when they accessed the Astros' database without authorization.

That's one of the main reasons I love going to baseball games, it's easily the cheapest professional sport to attend. $30 usually gets you a solid seat at any of the local teams, hell I paid $36 on Stubhub for seats for Reds/Tigers tomorrow night 13 rows behind 1st
It's Detroit we are talking about. Of course it's low cost.

    Crazy day in MLB

Brock Holt hits for the cycle

Marlins score 8 in the first off the Yankees

    Nationals go for 23 hits

Wilson Ramos hits a HR off of 2 different position players

Phillies lost 19-3 and in the 7th inning they finally had a pitcher retire them 1-2-3....that pitcher was Jeff Francoeur

Aroldis Chapman tied his own record by ending the game on a 103 mph pitch

    Orioles hit 8 HR

Also a walk off HR in Texas and a pitcher batted as DH

And the Pirates now have pitched 30 straight scoreless innings as a team. That streak will probably end today with Locke pitching, but still, that's a nice run.

And here are the actual hats...

The Phillies have now gone 23 games without a starting pitcher getting a win.
Saw this on ESPN just now. How is that even possible?

    1. The Phillies suck.

    2. Other than Hamels, they have a lot of poor starting pitchers that are probably well below league average. Harang had a surprisingly good start, but got crushed twice by the Reds in the time period that this 23-game winless streak by starters has been happening. But overall, take Hamels out of the equation and they're as bad as any team as far as starting pitching goes.

I also saw on ESPN that every team in the NL East has a losing road record. Only division that terrible.

The least publicized chase to 3000 hits I can remember. Literally, nobody gives a fuck. I remember when guys like Eddie Murray, Paul Molitor, Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken went for it and even 15 years ago, we saw every at-bat for like a week leading up to it.

MLB cancels 60+ million All-Star votes with the KC Royals having the top vote getters in 8 of the 9 positions....

On one hand, I love the fact we have a bit of "vote anarchy" that hopefully will convince MLB to do something about All Star balloting. Having a game mean something more than just being a meaningless exhibition, but maintaining a voting system that encouraged fucktard homers to go haywire to get their guys in is one of the most stupid things ever.

On the other hand, I feel for fans of, well, Cleveland and other teams that are .500ish (give or take), because regardless of how many deserving candidates you have, you'll be lucky to get more than one rep with KC eating up half the fucking roster.

When I used to vote for those things, rarely would I go the "homer" route. I'd vote for the player having the best year. I also wouldn't go the "reputation" route (ala Jeter, etc) because of their previous body of work.
  • Ironman92
Never go homer route....a baseball fan gets to see their team 160 games a year....I only get to see some stars a handful of times each year.
  • thavoice
I have never voted online and just usually did the ballots at the ballparks, which they dont have any more.
Always hated how teams would pump up their own guys for the fans to vote for.

Fox sports Detroit has a funny spot about how the royals have 8 guys, and Miggy isnt voted in yet.

Yeah. I mean, I get "team pride" and all and a part of me approves of the KC "FUCK BIG MARKETS!!! THIS LITTLE TEAM IS TAKING THE FUCK OVER!!!!" attitude, but the closest to homerism I've gone is when at least the Pirate I'm voting for is reasonably comparable to the superior player (.280/15/50 vs. .285/12/45 sort of thing). But, man, voting in the worst hitter in baseball because he's your guy? Fuck that noise.

To me, voting for all of your own teams players is the equivalent (in stupidity) of stockpiling your fantasy football team with your favorite teams' players.

Not nearly as much but I do. I'm not going out and buying jersey for my kid or anything but he's not been a colossal ass hat this season and his reaction after tying Willie Mays was pretty telling.

Unless he's slipping one past the goalie and is back on the gear, I'm actually a bit surprised with the numbers he's put up this year. I figured he'd be brutal but he's put up some respectable numbers.
