2015 MLB Chatter

Big trade by the Dads to start the season. Padres get Upton and Kimbrel from the Braves.
  • Ironman92
This may be the most I've liked the Cubs since Sandberg, Dawson and Harry Caray.

Mad don as coach....Rizzo I think is a top 5 MVP guy and Soler and Bryant may be 1st and 2nd in ROY

I like this Cubs team, too.
  • Ironman92
Rizzo failed to get the star treatment....those were big calls.

Cards continue to have the approaches I wish the Reds had.

Wish Schilling wasn't on the Sunday night crew

    Pitcher batting 8th

Awful positioning of Coghlin in LF vs a lefty batter with wind blowing in
  • Ironman92
Wainright getting both sides of the plate plus 2 inches
  • Ironman92
This not throwing to first (or any base) by Lester is going to kill him. I've never witnessed leads like this before in MLB

I still hope they lose 90. I wish the Cards could lose 90...but, sadly, they're not as typically inept as the Cubs have been until last winter, so that's more of a pipe dream.

Before I totally shitcan the idea I would like to see detailed data over a few year period. I know many hate it becuase, well, LaRussa was the first to really do it often. A SP gets 2, maybe 3 AB's game. I am not totally against the idea. I know when I was coaching, and it was only HS baseball, if we didnt necesarily put the worst hitter inthe 9 hole. If we had a guy with some speed, but didnt quite fit at the top/middle of the lineup we put him in the 9 spot to give that top of the lineup a better chance when the lineup was turned back over.

Tigers looked really good today. Having to use the bullpen for .1 innings certainly helps but tons of speed, power and a very improved defense were on display today. Should be an exciting year in a tough division

Well, it took one whole game for classy to let us know how good the tigers look.

Exactly! Someone like Billy Hamilton if he gets worse this year and bats like .220 with .260 OBA. Don't sabotage the next inning when your .050 batting pitcher leads off an inning in the 9th spot with the first out.

Yeah, the 8 spot gets more ab's than the 9, but the SP is 2-3 times max.....it just can set the table for the top of the lineup more for the rest of the game. As I said, I would want to see study it much more over the course of seasons before dismissing it totally. LIke right now...would we rather have Cozart batting in front of Hamilton, votto and frazier or the pitcher?

Latos gives up 7 runs on 6 hits in 2/3 inning....haha!

That's some great damn karma. I'm surprised his wife hasn't deleted her Twitter account after "Mat Latos" was trending and people were ripping on him really hardcore.

From what I read, after losing some velocity and Ks last year, he was hit hard in spring, too, so it looks like the Reds may have gotten all they could out of him and picked a good time to move on.

It was funny he ripped what was going on in the reds clubhouse last year. Heard from a friend who has a friend who retired, moved to Az and his PT job is an usher at the ST site and said last year Latos was caught receiving a hummer in the clubhouse by some lady who wasnt his wife!

From what I have heard, and many others have as well, is that he isnt the greatest clubhouse guy.

Yeah. Four swinging strikeouts on 12 pitches. He and Latos were in a dead heat for Worst of the Day.

Damn the Tigers are looking good. 7-0 already in the 4th!

Not to say they aren't good. But they are playing the worst team in baseball, calm down.

And nd ive probably just jinxed the Tribe versus the Twins all year.

You cannot stop the tigers, you can only hope to containthem
  • Classyposter58
Oh I'm calm just nice to see this team flying out of the gates like this

Detroit will only improve throughout this season too. I doubt they give up more than 2 runs or score less than 8 runs a game for the rest of the season.
