2015 Browns Offseason Thread

Commander of Awesome"I'd also draft the best quarterback the Browns can get. I'd make a pitch for Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, although it'll take a king's ransom to get him -- the No. 12, the No. 19, and next year's first-rounder."

lolk Mary Kay. Good to know that you know what it would take to trade up with TB. WHY in the fuck would TB do that deal? They need a QB. SMH at cleveland media. -
Laley23Im not sold on Mariota anyway. Oregon plays so damn fast that I am not sure he ever has to go through a progression. Not only that, but how often does he even read a defense? Its all about getting to the line and snapping it, half the time before the defense is set. There is no way anyone will convince me he reads a defense in college to the extent he will need to in the NFL.
Not saying he cant learn to do all this and be great, but I wouldnt draft him based off of ANYTHING in college.
EDIT: On that front, Jameis is much more prepared and can make more NFL throws. Id take him in a heartbeat, if he wasnt a dumbass. -

Jameis' actual quarterbacking ability is pretty damn spectacular. I think he'll go #1 to TB.Laley23;1692653 wrote:

Agreed. Watched him about 5 full games this year. His pre-snap reads are about as good as you will see at the college level. And he can make all the throws and go through progressions.lhslep134;1692671 wrote:Jameis' actual quarterbacking ability is pretty damn spectacular. I think he'll go #1 to TB. -
Lovejoy1984The maturity issues scare the hell out of me with Winston. I don't see him falling past #6 though.

If I were an NFL team, I wouldn't worry at all about Winston's maturity issues. Everything about him regarding football has been super positive. Cam Newton had maturity issues, and he's not been in a hint of trouble while in the NFL.HighRoller74;1692684 wrote:The maturity issues scare the hell out of me with Winston. Lovejoy1984But then at the same time you've got Manziel who's name is staying in the headlines for the wrong reasons lol
Just playing devils advocate.

None of that Manziel stuff would matter if he showed results on the field though, it's not like he's out there doing illegal things. Winston may do some stupid things, but I think he gives 100% to football. You just don't get as good as he is at reads and controlling an offense without being dedicated to it, and by all accounts, he has been. Manziel has an entitlement personality, and cares more about the brand of Johnny Manziel than he does Johnny Manziel the football player.HighRoller74;1692697 wrote:But then at the same time you've got Manziel who's name is staying in the headlines for the wrong reasons lol

The media sure tries their hardest to make him out to be a child bitch though.se-alum;1692696 wrote:If I were an NFL team, I wouldn't worry at all about Winston's maturity issues. ts1227I don't know though, sure Cam came off as a bit immature, but Winston comes off as functionally retarded when doing anything that is not football. He's way worse than Cam was regarding worries outside of football.
-
shook_17I'd love to get Winston. I think he will be pretty damn good. If he comes out.

Yeah, Winston may come off as a dumbass but he's probably the most NFL 'ready" of this group. He seems to be able to go through his reads/progressions.lhslep134;1692671 wrote:Jameis' actual quarterbacking ability is pretty damn spectacular. I think he'll go #1 to TB. -

Cam stole laptops, Jameis stole crab legs, which is worse?ts1227;1692733 wrote:I don't know though, sure Cam came off as a bit immature, but Winston comes off as functionally retarded when doing anything that is not football. He's way worse than Cam was regarding worries outside of football. -
Pick6
You forgot the part where Jameis raped a girl and then add the whole "fuck her right in the *****" thing on top of that. Almost comical some of you bitch at Manziel for everything he does, but Jameis is alright. We can just come out and say it- on the field performance is all we really care about.se-alum;1692752 wrote:Cam stole laptops, Jameis stole crab legs, which is worse? -

Way to pick 1 of his transgressions...the worst of them.se-alum;1692752 wrote:Cam stole laptops, Jameis stole crab legs, which is worse?
And while I think he is innocent of the rape...the allegation is obviously still a redflag. -

Those are the worst proven transgressions for both.Laley23;1692755 wrote:Way to pick 1 of his transgressions...the worst of them.

So you can prove he raped a girl? If Winston's maturity issues continue as a pro like Manziel's have, he will get the same treatment from fans of whatever team he is screwing over.Pick6;1692753 wrote:You forgot the part where Jameis raped a girl and then add the whole "fuck her right in the *****" thing on top of that. I feel like Winston is too stupid to ever really learn from it, unlike Cam.se-alum;1692752 wrote:Cam stole laptops, Jameis stole crab legs, which is worse? -

Personally, I don't want Winston but I do think he's the most ready of the group.Pick6;1692753 wrote:You forgot the part where Jameis raped a girl and then add the whole "fuck her right in the *****" thing on top of that. Ironman92I worry about Winston aging quickly.....I don't think he'll last too many years.
I do agree he is the most ready now. -
friendfromlowryAside from trading some picks, do the Browns have a shot at even getting either guy?
-
SportsAndLady
Guess it depends on where you think each QB will be drafted. If you think either will slip, Browns could grab one. If not, Browns have pick 12 so it depends if they land there.friendfromlowry;1692805 wrote:Aside from trading some picks, do the Browns have a shot at even getting either guy?
I think we could definitely see a trade though -
Commander of Awesome
None. And I would gladly take either one over what we have in Cleveland currently.friendfromlowry;1692805 wrote:Aside from trading some picks, do the Browns have a shot at even getting either guy? -
Lovejoy1984
Agreed. If either are there at 12, i'm ok with it. With the rookie wage scale, first round QB busts don't cripple a team like they use to.Commander of Awesome;1692809 wrote:None. And I would gladly take either one over what we have in Cleveland currently. -
Laley23
Financially, no. And I am of the notion you draft till you get the guy. But, I definitely think they can cripple you in many ways beyond money.HighRoller74;1692838 wrote:Agreed.
