Yeah, nobody wanted chud to be fired after 1 year, but it seems like we got a coach that many players and coaches around the league highly respect. We also still have a shit ton of picks, at least 5 of our 6 pro bowl/all pro players returning, and a shit ton of cap room. On top of that, we fired dumb fuck lombardi, and stubborn banner, which should make even the biggest QQers happy. Now we have farmer, who apparently is a great talent, and the FO all of a sudden seems like less of a cluster fuck than it was a month ago. Farmer seems to also be looking to lock up our best players.

When it's all said and done, after FA and the draft we might look back and say this offseason was an overall positive for the Browns.
This off season was very positive in the sense that they got rid of the problems. I hate to say iggy was right but he was when it came to banner. Their draft and their off season was awful. I'm glad they are gone. Bess groves were awful.

I think Dez was a good pick up, and that t-rich trade rape was/is fantastic. Also, can't complain about all the picks they stockpiled for us in a much deeper draft. The jury is still out on Kruger and Mingo imo.

Still pisses me off they passed up on Mathieu for McFadden though.

Overall though, it seems like it is good that Banner is gone, since it seems like NOBODY likes him as a person. I am not going to go as far to say IQQY was right though. Anyone who bitches to that magnitude needs to get a life.

After last season, def looks like a mistake. I'm still optimistic about McFadden. once he started to get a little playing time, like Gilkey, I thought he was starting play better. Jury is still out on him, but I think he can contribute in Cleveland. Prob not the game changer that Mathieu can be though.

Yeah, I am not trying to claim McFadden is a bust, but im sure we all easily would take Mathieu at this point. Although who knows, maybe Mathieu will never be able to recover from his ACL tear.

Most fans remember McFadden as the game that drew the PI call against the Patriots, that set up the game winning TD. However that call was fucking horrible and the ref should be suspended at min for it.

Such a fucking joke. He was playing well that game until then too.

I think McFadden will be fine, though I think he tops out as a nickel CB, but if we can get a starter opposite of Haden, and with Skrine's improvement, we could have 4 pretty good CB's against these spread offenses.

I'm very interested in how we approach this off-season....Curious if the Browns fall in love with a QB if they will do whatever they can to secure, or if they will be conservative and just take the best athlete available when it comes to their selection, or if they decide to trade down.

John Clayton made it sound like Hoyer wont be back this year, he said this on NFL Live today. Kinda surprised me. Clayton stated that he wouldn't be surprised if Browns dump Hoyer and look to sign Schaub or Vick plus a drafted QB

    EDIT:

I feel like after I see what Sammy Watkins does at the combine and his work out I'm going to be on the Watkins at 4 pick. But I feel we need Teddy or JFF. I don't know about Bortles.

Man, love you shook but I couldn't disagree with that more.

No fucking way do we take anyone but a QB at 4.

What do you Browns guys need to see from your team/organization this year? Number of wins? Beating certain teams? Where in the division?....assuming you get what you expect to in the draft.

Yeah, especially of we dump Hoyer, which I highly doubt we do.

Everything I've heard/read about Hoyer is that he's progressing well and is expected to be part of OTAs in May but held out of contact drills.

    http://www.ohio.com/sports/browns/browns-quarterback-brian-hoyer-vows-comeback-1.466375

He led the Browns to back-to-back wins in September before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Oct. 3 against the Buffalo Bills. He had surgery Oct. 18 but expects to be able to participate in the team’s offseason conditioning program, which is tentatively scheduled to begin April 7.
“I’m definitely on schedule, if not ahead,” Hoyer said. “At this point now, we’re kind of out of the rehab phase and more into the strengthening. So much of the little rehab stuff, I’m kind of over now. It’s lifting, running, dropping back, throwing. It’s more of the strengthening and getting acclimated and doing more football things — cutting, those types of things.
“Every day I come in here and do something more. To me, it seems more and more conceivable that April is a [realistic] target date now. How much I can do I don’t know, but the stuff I’m doing in here now I don’t think is much different than [what] we’d be doing in April anyway.”

Sounds like Clayton doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

I'd be very upset if they dump Hoyer. Id like Teddy Bridge, I think Farmer prefers Teddy or Bortles over JFF.

Just realized he was talking about us cutting Hoyer, and not that Hoyer won't be ready. I would be pissed if we did that, ESP for a scumbag POS like Vick or the next Failhomme in Schaub.
  • bases_loaded
Why would we cut a guy with trade value?

    Super Bowl or bust.

I would be VERY surprised if they decided to cut Hoyer. He has almost been the face of the off-season, showing his rehab videos and stuff, showing his charity events, etc. I feel like he is the PERFECT mentor-type QB. He obviously understands hard work and preparation, being under the tutelage of one of the best to ever play the game in New England, and when his number was called in Cleveland, he turned his preparation into performance. Plus, he's a home-grown kid. I think it would be a very unpopular decision if they cut him. Is his contract that heavy that it would be a beneficial move?

I'd think that the Browns would be better off with Hoyer than Cousins, Schaub, or Vick.

I agree we need to try and get a QB at 4, but I don't want the team to just take a QB, for the sake of taking one.

Once the front office is able to separate their guy, I'd prefer them to go through and rank every player separate and take best available player, don't want to be pigeonholed into a QB who might be the 16th/17th rated prospect just because.

    For example:

Browns feel Bortles is top QB available, if he's there when we pick, done deal, if not go to best available if its another QB awesome if not, the Browns are talented, but aren't exactly 1 player away from the super bowl, so should take best available player (To an Extent)

    Bortles

    Then:
    Robinson
    Clowney
    Watkins
    Teddy
    Barr
    etc.

Yes, sorry. thats what Clayton said on NFL Live at 4pm today. But totally agree I see Vick in NYJ uni, and Schaub I can see having a team give him a chance. Jacksonville, Tenn, or Minny. If Jacksonville grabs Schaub, that allows the Jags to go else where at number 3 instead of QB.
Good, what a disappointment he was this year. I wonder of that 3 million will count towards the cap and if so we would be over 50 million in cap space. That would be awesome, we need to spend some money in FA. Nicks, Decker opposite of Gordon, A LB, or CB and hit on some draft picks. Get our QB, a RB and add depth on the Oline LB. Its hard not to get excited about the future of this team. I feel way more comfortable with Farmer leading this team.

They showed a stat on Hoyer in his three game our team averaged 28.3 PPG, I know the Bill game he was hurt but still counts. he was 3 in 0 and Campbell and Weeden were 1 in 12 hahaha.

So tired of the Cousins talk. Nothing but a very good back up.
