2014 Cleveland Browns Offseason Thread

In a different time, different place maybe exploring the Bradford thing would be OK, but not now. The browns are moving forward with a new coach, new GM, new everything pretty much and should do so wtih a new QB as well.

Plus there are a few QB's who fit the bill for them and can lead them. Draft the best QB they believe can lead them and dont look back and dont take some other team's dirty luggage with Bradford.

At that point I'm taking Clowney/Barr/Mack/Robinson
I can see Garoppolo being the 4th QB taken, he seemed to really impress scouts in the postseason games. Question is, do the Browns go Clowney or Watkins at 4 if the QB's are gone?

I absolutely hate the thought of not getting one of the top 3 QBs. But if they go 1, 2, 3 you kinda have to take bpa.

That would fucking suck but it's the smart move.

Clowney makes me nervous to be honest. HoF potential but I'm scared of the fact hat he didn't play near his potential this yr. I love Mack/Barr/Robinson.

I think Robinson is the most dominate oline prospect I've seen, including Joe Thomas since Pace. I dont think we can take him at 4, but I feel the most sure he's going to be a stud. I'd probably lean towards Mack or Barr if QBs are gone but wouldn't QQ about Clowney/Watkins.

I don't really worry about Clowney, because I think he was all about getting to the money. He'll need to play hard to get that big 2nd contract.

As a fan of the opposition...I hope you guys don't get Mack.

I would love to have Mack, but I don't see a scenario where we draft him. First of all, I don't think all 3 QB's will be gone at #4, and I don't see us passing on Clowney if that would happen. I think Mack can be a game changer though.

I want no part of Bradford for anything higher than a 4th rd pick. And only because he is essentially an expiring contract and we can cut him with no penalty if doesn't work out for us.

If the rams take a QB, or trade back(Which is probable) and the Top 3 QB's are gone, we really need to look at BPA to an extent, or possibly look to trading back a bit as well, and adding more picks.

If Top 3 picks are QB's, someone from the later half of the top 10 may try to move up and secure Clowney, or one of the LB's which would net us another 3rd/2nd depending on where move back to, still leaving us in a good position, to fill a few of the holes.
  • Midstate01
If that happens then you could probably have Bradford for a 3rd or 4th. You are my taking a guy #3 overall and sitting him.

    Agree.

The Browns will either get a top 3 QB or Clowney with the first pick. Win freaking win.

I think if the top 3 QB's went before our pick, I would want to trade back. There are a lot of teams who would love Clowney or one of those linemen. I wouldn't move back too far, though. Probably no more than 12th overall. At that point, there are still players available that have huge potential and could fill holes. Obviously, above all else, I would like to land our guy at 4, but just hypothetically thinking here.

Don't think I would want to go as far back as 12, but trading back a few spots wouldn't hurt. At that point, Mack and Watkins would be the two I really want, and no way either of them are there at #12.

I don't understand everybody wanting to trade back. Why can we not just stay put and get the player WE WANT. The best on the board, screw that.

There are times where it is right to move back such as maybe when you are short on picks and want to get more, or maybe the guy you need/want should be available later.
But I dont think the browns should move back and maybe, possibly get burnt. Now is the time to cash in their chips.

You guys have gone through a huge shit storm and are now in the position to cash in with 2 in the first round. Use them. See if they can duplicate what Cincy did in getting two very good players. I dont think they are THAT FAR away. Pick the right guys in the first round....who knows what happens

If the Browns can hit on the first 5 picks, it could really set this team on the upswing.

Yea, obvious statement is obvious, but it's something we haven't been able to do since the Browns returned to football. This is the opportunity to turn this franchise around.

QB or not, any team that can hit on 5 picks in the draft (let alone the first 5 picks), will turn the franchise around (see the seahawks).

I agree though. Hopefully the Browns just hit 10 for 10 though.

Yeah, while we're being unrealistic, might as well hope for 10/10. And I guess we'll take Decker, too.
  • Crimson streak
This is the most confident draft I've felt in a long time with farmer running the show. I honestly believe the players we draft in the first 3 rounds will all make an impact. I just have that much trust in farmer
  • shook_17
I would love to have Decker opposite of Gordon, that would be lethal.
  • Sonofanump
Decker might not take the best deal, but go to a place where he can win with a good established QB.
He might re-sign to a deal with player options after next year to get out if Peyton retires.

This is just my opinion and based off the fact that his wife also brings in some coin in the relationship.

I don't think it's unrealistic to hit on 5/5 when those 5 picks are in the first 3 rounds. They don't need to all be all-pro, just players that can contribute consistently.
  • Pick6
IMO (well depending on who they might lose in FA), they only need to hit on 1 pick to seriously be on the upswing, and that's the QB pick.
