2014 Cleveland Browns Offseason Thread

Once the front office is able to separate their guy, I'd prefer them to go through and rank every player separate and take best available player, don't want to be pigeonholed into a QB who might be the 16th/17th rated prospect just because.

    For example:

Browns feel Bortles is top QB available, if he's there when we pick, done deal, if not go to best available if its another QB awesome if not, the Browns are talented, but aren't exactly 1 player away from the super bowl, so should take best available player (To an Extent)

    Bortles

    Then:
    Robinson
    Clowney
    Watkins
    Teddy
    Barr
    etc.
I'm mostly on side of having to draft a QB, but I can also see a situation that they go BPA if the QB they want isn't there, then maybe take a shot at Garopollo(sp?) with the 2nd pick or the 2nd rounder. It's hard not to trust that Farmer will make the right moves.

He will quickly lose my trust if he passes on a QB.

    This.

There's no way (okay I guess there's a small chance..) Bortles, Bridgewater, and Manziel go 1, 2, and 3. Grab whoever is there at 4. Period.

Honestly what I don't get, Teddy from last year all through this season was the sure fire #1 Qb now the combine and shit has him dropping, hopefully to us. But I hate this time of year. I don't give a shit about measurables, show me the game film. The film shows Teddy as the best qb. I just don't get how a qb like Bortles jumps up because of his measureables. But I guess thats why I'm not a scout. If Teddy falls to us, please pull the trigger.

I was on the Manziel bandwagon but Im shifting to Teddy at 4.

TBW will still go #1. This is draft BS, and pathetic BSPN writers trying to get clicks.
  • Laley23
Lots of people wanted Bortles all year. He isn't having some crazy post season jump. Manziel on the other hand has shot up draft boards after most people didn't see him as a 1st rounder after last year.

    Good article on Manziel

Like the Texans and Jaguars, Cleveland also needs a quarterback, and the Browns have the fourth overall pick."If something happens, and it's the Cleveland Browns, I'm going to pour my heart out for the Dawg Pound and try to win a Super Bowl for Cleveland," he says. "I don't care if they've had 20 starting quarterbacks since 1999. I'm going to be the 21st and the guy that brought them the Super Bowl."

Nice comments by Manziel, but Gabbert said same thing about Jacksonville. Talk is cheap but glad he's not being a bitch boy eli manning about SD with Cleveland.

True, but Manziel is a significantly better prospect, and has worked with Whitfield for 3 years. He'll be much better in the NFL than Gabbert, even though that doesn't really take much.

Yeah, showing one iota of competence and ability = being better in the NFL than Gabbert.

Do not want a QB at 4 just because QB. None of the current crop screams at me "Franchise QB" and certainly not Manziel.

Comparing Gabbert talking to JFF? Come on now, that's just dumb.

I'm not comparing their talents or QB skills dummy. I'm talking about pre draft talking. Means jack shit.

I don't know, I feel like Gabbert just spewed that BS, just to make himself look good. I mean he really didn't have a great college resume. Manziel has had this attitude that he can win anywhere since probably when he was a JR High QB. I like his arrogance. Sometimes you need that to succeed.

COA never gets what I'm saying. Nor does he ever read what I say.

    I said comparing Gabbert's TALKING to JFF's.

As much as I've been against him at #4... this just made me partially accepting of him. I've always felt that he is a polarizing player and that teammates didn't really care for him, but he definitely said the right things in this article.

if you are a Browns fan and hate JFF, only good things can come from drafting him.

Scenario A: Browns draft him and he's awesome. If that happens, Browns will win more games, and that's good.
Scenario B: Browns draft him and he's garbage. You hate him already. Your hate grows exponentially for him, and he flops and you get some schadenfreude out of it. Browns win/loss stays the same. So no harm there.

You can only get positives out of drafting JFF.
