I don't get why he doesn't just go into a rehab program. For what he or the Browns can afford he'd go to a fucking 5 star resort, would practically be a vacation for him.

In an interesting development, the Browns have terminated the contract of WR Earl Bennett...

interesting indeed. Right now the top 3 WR are all gone from last season. Bennett was decent when he was with the Bears from what I can remember..

I don't find it that interesting. Dudes a bum. Was a fa until a month ago. What's that tell you about him? Don't make this bigger than it is. No one though Bennett was going to replace Gordon for Christ sakes.

Nobody thought any one person was going to replace Gordon. Maybe my MAC boy Snead is making moves. Wouldn't be shocked.

The more I think about it, the more I think it may be due to potentially positive news surrounding the Gordon situation.

also, who give a flying fuck what Brady fucking Quinn's opinion of Manziel are.

You obviously read realcavsfan way too much if this is your line of thinking.

I do. Much better quality than this board. Still sticking to my original prediction of 6 games.

    Rodgers?

All I know is that they better not do to this #2 what we did to another #2 back in 1999. Tim Couch had a ton of up side, but was just beat to death for season after season. I hope we don't pull a quick trigger and throw Manzeil to the wolves. Any raw talent that he has will be replaced with a tattoo of a linebackers jersey on his face mask.

Doubtful. From what I had heard about Bennett in OTA's, he looked "clueless" and "awful."

Probably has more to do with the fact that he sucked ass than a minimal suspension for Gordon. Not saying Gordon's gonna get a full year but very skeptical that Bennett was cut for any reason other than sucking.

On the radio, leading up to this story, they said "Yesterday, Brady Quinn came out" and I was like "about time....good for him" but then they finished the sentence with "and criticized Manziel."

Not a very good comparison...the offensive line of now compared to 1999-2003 is apples to oranges.

Agreed. The team Manziel will be walking on to is a much better prepared team, personnel-wise, for a rookie QB than Couch had in 1999. If the defense & running game are as good as I think they will be, he could have a pretty decent transition.

Anyone heard any news out of camp about WR Charles Johnson? Interested to see if he fits into their plans at WR.

I've been curious about him as well, but I don't think he's practiced yet due to caution with his knee.

As others said........the OL is much better now, and Couch had a weak arm without the mobility.

The issue browns fans may need to worry about is his decision making on the field. He threw quite a few INT's in college to go along with his many TD's. He is going to also have to learn when and when not to run or he will, as you say, be replaced with a tat of a LB jersey on his facemask.

I havent seen a single player rejuvinate a fanbase before even taking a snap like he has. He has breathed new life into this franchise which will be a good thing for browns fans.

I think he is going to make so many things happen on the field it will be tough to keep him off the field

Nobody wants to hear the "P" word but people will have to be patient with him. He's going to provide a lot of "wow" moments while he'll also provide a lot of "wtf" moments.

Agreed, and many young QB's go through that as they get fooled by a coverage or the actual speed of the game.
Talked to the parents of a kid who just got drafted, and as we all would expect, he is saying the speed of the game is so unreal right now and this is just OTA's without elaborate schemes.

JM will make some amazing plays...and some bonehead ones as well. If you can break the pocket and scramble and still focus downfield like Roethlisberger then you can turn some ugly plays into big time gains.

And that's why I want Hoyer playing over Manziel. If, for any reason above all, only so Manziel can see first hand the speed of the game and go through a year of film study alongside Hoyer without the detriment getting smashed up.

I dont think it will help him much to sit behind Hoyer.
You know how many snaps a NFL backup QB gets in practice?
Almost as many as you or I get.

Up the backups reps in practice? Ok, but then the starter suffers and will have less reps to get ready.

Plus...NFL in season practices are pretty much no contact run throughs not coming near the speed of the games. They get I think 16 contact days once the season starts.

He wont learn the speed of the game until he gets to play. It is not like the Browns have an experienced good QB to show him the ropes. Sit JM for a year and he will still have to go through an acclimation period next season.

He may not start the season, but they would be best serve to get him alot of playing time and if he can earn it, the starters spot by mid season. You know the first INT Hoyer throws, or the first loss, everyone will be calling for him.
    JM is their franchise QB.
