No, but if you are going to pretend you are above these type of arguments, then simply stfu and don't respond. You're the one who decided to click on the Browns thread, and see browns fans trash pittsburgh fans for being shitty. Don't act like you didn't expect a reaction.Automatik;1625654 wrote:Sorry, should I increase my use of the term fail? Failsponse? -

BR1986FBSo I'm sitting at a slot machine at the casino in Erie, PA Wednesday night wearing my "Manziel #2" Browns t-shirt when I hear some bandwagon inbred behind me say "Manziel is going to get split in half in his first game against the Steelers." This came from the card tables. I turned around to see who said it but everyone was playing innocent/"not me." Was hoping someone could step up so I could give them the old "perhaps you're right, but at least he hasn't raped anyone." That area is also infested with Yinzers when it's actually Bills territory.
-
lhslep134I've never really bought into the attendance thing, FWIW.
It's not that I'm criticizing those who choose to spend their money on watching bad entertainment (ie a bad sports team), it's that I'm OK with people choosing not to pay a lot of money for mediocrity or shittiness.
So if you want to compare Browns attendance during a shitty season versus Steeler's attendance during a shitty season, go ahead, but it really doesn't tell me much other than Browns' fans are making an economically worse decision. If you want to chalk that up to "being better fans" or having more "passion", fine by me. But I don't think you can generalize fanbases based on attendance when the team is bad.
Also, I didn't develop this attitude towards attendance until recently when the experience of watching at home or at a bar, in addition to the amount of money saved, has greatly reduced the gap in entertainment value. -
Commander of AwesomeI guess you don't buy into supporting the team as having any value. I do.
Also shows dedication, and non bandwagonism. Stick through the hard times as well as good times. -
Heretic
I think, according to the bandwagon police, that since Erie is in PA, it has to be Steelers territory. At least, I've heard that the east/valley part of Ohio is, theoretically, Browns country, even though geographically, it's closer to Pittsburgh, so I'd figure things would be consistent. Although, come to think of it, the bandwagon police do tend to rapid-fire change the rules whenever it fits the current argument. Unless there's another reason why a fanbase that prides themselves for having Browns Backers clubs around the world suddenly says that another team's fanbase travels well because they have a lot of bandwagon fans.BR1986FB;1625802 wrote:So I'm sitting at a slot machine at the casino in Erie, PA Wednesday night wearing my "Manziel #2" Browns t-shirt when I hear some bandwagon inbred behind me say "Manziel is going to get split in half in his first game against the Steelers." I buy into supporting the team through good and bad. I disagree with your implication that spending a ton of money going to a game to watch mediocrity is a stronger form of support than going to a bar wearing a Cleveland shirt and rooting for them.Commander of Awesome;1625921 wrote:I guess you don't buy into supporting the team as having any value. IMO, that's an extremely naive and/or elementary stance on an individual's level of fan support. -
Commander of AwesomeCan't cheer on players getting them to give it their all for the city they represent and make a statement to rest of nfl from a bar. Come on man

Well you already know I think the whole caring about fandom is childish and irrelevant so my post shouldn't surprise you.Commander of Awesome;1625944 wrote:Can't cheer on players getting them to give it their all for the city they represent and make a statement to rest of nfl from a bar. Also, they don't give it their all for the city they "represent", they give it their all for a paycheck (generally speaking. obviously there are exceptions). If players/teams are going to act like it's a business (which it is and isn't, at the same time), then I'm going to exercise economic discipline when deciding how I'm going to support my team. -
Commander of AwesomeOh you can't afford to go to games? Got it.

So you've always bought the highest end consumer products possible? You've never once paid for a perceived lesser product because it's a better deal to you? Got it.
You can respond if you want, but I'm done on this topic, I find it way too idiotic to waste my time. I will never judge someone's fandom based on the money they spend to exercise said fandom.
