Worth exploring. Yeah, I agree with the Bettis part 2 idea.

Just give the Rams a bunch of picks this year and next year to rebuild their roster.

He's slightly past his prime but not washed up. He can be a factor for a team that's ready to contend for the next 2-3 years.

Lot of mileage on those legs...sure you would want to give up a lot for him? Tough schedule full of bruising defenses....

Just from watching him I think he still has some good years left. He would probably be re-charged going to more of a playoff team.

Plus he catches 40-50 passes a season which helps a QB like Roethlisberger who gets a lot of pass rush.

I'd be cool with it if the Steelers took a run at Jackson.

This. Add to that that Mendenhall will be coming off an ACL injury at some point this season (maybe) and then there's a year remaining on his contract.

Wes is right about the miles on those legs but Jackson isn't done yet as non said. If he has a few seasons left at his current level...I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Yeah, he would be good for a couple years fo sho. I wonder how it work contract wise...he is bitching and moaning about getting a new contract. I wonder if he would play for his current pay or if it would have to get reworked...no matter where he went.

True, and the Steelers had to struggle to get under the cap to begin with.

The Steelers are not in too bad of shape going forward, they have some young talent but clearly the cornerstone players that you win Super Bowls with are Roethlisberger and Polamalu to name a couple and when you get down to that, the window is about three more years to try and win one more. So taking on a Steven Jackson for 2-3 years would be an ok fit for them. I think it would make sense for him, too, at this stage in his career. He's had a heck of a career and it's mostly gone unnoticed playing for the Rams.

right, exposure in several primetime and a deep playoff run, would do wonders for his legacy. Also, just being on a contender may make the contract talk go away.

It would be nice to have a good pass catching RB....they can suck the life out of a defense but the steelers never seem to have that sort of offensive scheme that promote that very much. Maybe Haley's offense will incorporate that a little bit more. STeelers used to be a great screen team, but almost went to the well too often and now it pretty much doesnt exist.

Will be interesting how the new scheme workds

I think Baron Batch -- who they drafted in the 7th round -- will be a good pass-catching back. Although he's probably going to fill more of a Mewelde Moore type role than as any kind of feature back.

I wonder if the Steelers will take Dontarie Poe.

They usually don't draft the boom-or-bust types.

Probably. Would be nice if the feature back would get more swing passes and such. It is such a huge weapon and with the pressure teams put on BR that is just a killer for a defense.

I cannot name 10 guys draft eligible, so I dont know who they should get, but MiLB, OL is always a great place to start. RC and TP are getting up there......may need some good secondary help. Can never have too many DBs in this pass happy league

I'm usually more up on the draft but not this year. After the first couple rounds I'm going to be searching for some info on a lot of these guys.

I definitely think they'll take a safety, probably in the middle rounds.

Steelers signed Leftwich to a 1-year deal today.

That should take QB out of the equation in this draft.

They'll go with Ben, Leftwich, Batch and Troy Smith

    We got DeCastro. Yes.

    Yes. Twitter.

If you are on Twitter you know 2-3 picks in advance. Adam Schefter and others.

Yep....browns fucked up and steelers capitalized

    A+ pick in DeCastro.
  • Non
Kind of stinks Hightower went to NE but at least Baltimore didn't get him.

    Yeah A+.

He was projected in the top 20 in every mock draft I've seen.

Pouncey and DeCastro are going to be great tandem. Both bring the intangibles along with the ability.

Second round I think we'll be looking at Nose Tackle or Linebacker.

I actually like that Mychal Kendricks from Cal.

    He's only 5/11 3/4 but very fast.
