2012 Pittsburgh Steelers Offseason Thread. Gone Fishin

@arobinson_Trib: Ramon Foster very capable fill-in, but #Steelers had feeling DeCastro was becoming something special in a hurry. This is a real setback.

    Per Adam Schefter...

Steelers first-round pick David DeCastro has a torn medial collateral ligament but the team is unsure whether he tore his anterior cruciate ligament. DeCastro is scheduled to undergo an MRI at lunchtime to determine the severity of the injury. If it's just a torn MCL, he would be expected to miss about half of this season. If it's a torn MCL and ACL he likely would miss the full season.

Read that the doctors think it was just the MCL and not the ACL. We'll find out for sure today.

@thesteelersnat: Looks like torn MCL, dislocated kneecap, patella tendon damage for DeCastro, according to the Twitter doctors. Puke.

Wow. Good that the ACL wasn't injured but holy shit about the rest. Damn.

    Per Schefter....

Steelers g David DeCastro dislocated his knee cap, tore his medial collateral ligament and suffered some damage to patellar tendon. But his anterior cruciate ligament is intact, according to sources and Steelers still are unsure if or when he will be able to return this season.

Aaaaand....seeing something different elsewhere on Twitter...

@nfl: RT @RapSheet: Was told #Steelers G David DeCastro has a torn ACL and MCL. Obviously headed for Injured Reserve.

    So, who knows.

If all that is true, no way he's back this year. Sucks.

On a good note. I just saw the TD run from Rainey. I'm xcited to see what he can do this season.

I'd be most concerned about the patella damage. Big men don't tend to come back from those injuries....ever.

    I know.

And he's not the only one. If the patella damage to Decastro's knee is minimal he'll likely be fine but if it's significant, his career is probably in jeopardy.
  • wes_mantooth
Well, to be fair...it wasn't the patella damage that kept Bentley from coming back...it was the white people. Fucking crackers.
  • killer_ewok
The ACL is fine. They're not sure if he'll return this season or not (my guess is not) but the fact that is even a question is a good sign for his career IMO.

Isnt there a new NFL rule this year about having an injured guy on the roster in some sorts? Used to be ya had to e on the 53 man and if you were put on a certain list you were done.

I think that Mendenhall may be that guy this season..but hadnt heard much.

there are some tweets out there that wallace is back...got a text from my boy in pittsburgh and he said the dj's are saying wallace is going to sign possibly today
  • thavoice
^^Yeah, it was reported last week that he was gonna be back this week.

How convenient for him. Skip out on two a days and the hardest workouts of the year.......

and in a season when a new OC and new offense is installed.

Thanks for being such a great team player
  • killer_ewok
Wallace will rejoin the team tomorrow.
  • GoPens
Wallace is in town. Will sign tomorrow because by waiting he won't have to play in Thursdays final preseason game.
  • THE4RINGZ
Hopefully Wallace comes back in almost game shape.
  • thavoice
Eh..ya cannot really get in FB game shape without actually being in the contact of games/practices.
Plus you have the timing, and learning the new offense.

He pretty much screwed himself and the offense. On a brighter note...looks like Brown has been doing very well and I bet becomes BR fav receiver now...

As long as he can run really fast in a straight line he will be fine.

Chris Rainey putting on a show tonight.
