Actually you can ask my brother, I was a huge McCoy basher all year. I thought he was terrible for most of the year. I'm also not one of those Browns fans who sees bad QB play and wants them sent to Guantanomo Bay though.Commander of Awesome;1071240 wrote:I think its a combo of everything. Patty boy being a terrible OC, bad WRs, bad line, bad play from the RB spot, and poor play from the QB spot.
I know the 2 brothers on here are McCoy believers/want to see him with talent. However I just see that as delaying the inevitable. He comes in next wr with new weapons and sucks the excuse will be new WRs in a new system, rookie WRs takes them 3 years, etc..... The excuses will just never end.
I wouldn't even call myself a McCoy believer. I just don't think he's shown enough awful for me to completely give up on him, especially with his coaches and receivers around him. -

COA, he's only agreeing w/ one tiny line in your post. You just gotta figure out on your own what line that is.BR1986FB;1071241 wrote:I agree -

Decent better than I expected 5 games his rookie yr, terrible his second yr. This regime doesn't have one more year to wait to figure out if he's the guy or not IMO. He either has to come in and play better and get 7 wins or everyone is gone IMO.SportsAndLady;1071244 wrote:Actually you can ask my brother, I was a huge McCoy basher all year. Yeah whatever. BR's a respected Browns poster on this board and I enjoy talking Browns football with him. Don't care if you don't agree with his opinion and he hurts your feelings.SportsAndLady;1071245 wrote:COA, he's only agreeing w/ one tiny line in your post. All of which contribute greatly to bad QB play.Commander of Awesome;1071240 wrote:I think its a combo of everything. Patty boy being a terrible OC, bad WRs, bad line, bad play from the RB spot, and poor play from the QB spot.

I won't make excuses for McCoy if he gets a chance next year and doesn't play well. This should be the year that he makes the biggest improvement. If that doesn't happen, I would be fine with moving on. Also, I won't complain if they take RG3 either, if they think that's the direction they need to go. Free agency will really determine what they will do. If they get a couple WR's in FA, I think they go after RG3. -
Crimson streakPoint is McCoy blows and we won't win anything with him at qb. If there were a good qb class next year I would be all for giving him another year but when you have the chance to draft a franchise qb/ franchise changer type player you have to do it. Rg3 I believe has a ceiling of a faster Aaron Rodgers and a floor of donavan mcnabb. But you want to give that up to see if McCoy has it? No you don't because he was a third rounder.

You and COA should start a thread where you guys post the same opinion over and over again.Crimson streak;1071292 wrote:Rg3 I believe has a ceiling of a faster Aaron Rodgers and a floor of donavan mcnabb. SportsAndLadySo there's a 0% chance rg3 is a bust? Come on..

I'm not a big RG3 fan, nice fail though. Try and keep up.bases_loaded;1071296 wrote:You and COA should start a thread where you guys post the same opinion over and over again. -

Post the same thing? Well obviously I want rg3 but who wouldn't he's a playmaker. He makes a team better. I like McCoy as a person I really wanted him to succeed but I also realize he's not the answer. His arm strength is not good and his decision making is questionable. Obviously inconsistent rb play and drops by the receivers don't help but you can just see he doesn't have the it factor.
I guess I shouldn't have said donavon mcnabb but I really couldn't think of a mobile mediocre qb. So I will say a little better of a tavarus Jackson as his floor? -
lhslep134The numbers don't lie, quarterbacks taken after the 1st round have simply not panned out the past 10 years. Could McCoy be different? Sure, he could be. But history says he's not, and if we have the opportunity to get an elite quarterback prospect we absolutely have to do it.

Well, if he's a little better than Jackson, he would be a bust as a top 5 pick.Crimson streak;1071327 wrote:Post the same thing? Well obviously I want rg3 but who wouldn't he's a playmaker. Oh I don't agree. I think RG3 absolutely has a bust factor, so does Luck. There isn't ever a sure thing in the NFL. Hell look at the Colts, I'm sure indy fans though Manning would be back by Dec at the beginning of last season.SportsAndLady;1071336 wrote:Crimson streak -

Calvin Johnson was a sure thing. Did anyone actually think he would bust?Commander of Awesome;1071341 wrote:Oh I don't agree. I think RG3 absolutely has a bust factor, so does Luck. I know that McCoy isn't the sole reason the offense has floundered.
He doesn't pass the eye test as far as an elite franchise QB is concerned. What cracks me up is that you'd think this was some "groundbreaking" opinion that I came up with and I was the ONLY one with this opinion. You'll be hard pressed to find ANY national analyst who doesn't a) think the Browns are going to distance themselves from McCoy or b) think that McCoy is the answer and they should move forward with him.
As was mentioned, THIS is the year to get the QB. If this regime ties their "cart" to McCoy and he fails, they're fucked. There's no turning back. They will be going into their 4th out of 5 years without their franchise QB with no real franchise QB prospects out there unless they mortgage the farm for Barkley. Then ...you guys will be bitching about them doing that saying "this team has too many holes." -

He would but it would still be better than anything we have had since 99 lol. It's sad but true. But if he doesn't work out he's quick enough to move to receiver -
