2012 Cleveland Browns thread: AKA Pat Shurmur Memorial thread

Pick6no way they take 2 safeties in back to back picks.
-
sleeperCan someone explain to how a need of the Browns is TE? Don't we have like 6 of them?
-
sleeperAlso, if that is how the draft goes for us, I will be pissed. Terrible choices.

No kidding. That's an awful mock.Pick6;1070826 wrote:no way they take 2 safeties in back to back picks.
Watson has said he isn't retiring, but if he gets KO'd by the concussions I guess it sort of becomes a need. Moore can't block for shit, and Cameron is a project who can't block for shit.sleeper;1070830 wrote:Can someone explain to how a need of the Browns is TE? Don't we have like 6 of them?
But it's still not as big of a need as DE or OLB, which he neglected to mention. There might not be a right tackle worth taking in that spot, but he has Zach Brown, an OLB, going to the Lions with the very next pick.
If Mercilus slides to the 3rd round I think the Browns would have to jump on that. -
SportsAndLadyThat's an absolute terrible mock
back to back safeties, I mean come on lol -
BR1986FB92.3 was talking about the latest rumors and some proposed roster moves.
Rumor, which is no surprise if the Browns are looking to bring in a QB, is that McCoy is on the trading block.
Their proposed roster moves were a sign & trade with Green Bay sending the #22 pick & McCoy to Green Bay for Matt Flynn, re-sign Hillis and draft Blackmon at 4. Thoughts on this?
I do agree that if they bring in a QB like Flynn they will need to get rid of McCoy. With the way QB controversies start in Cleveland, the first bad game Flynn had and all of McCoy's supporters would be screaming for him. It was the same with Couch/Holcomb, Dilfer/Frye and Anderson/Quinn. Plus if he's demoted to backup you still have the "ugly concussion/my daddy's gotta protect me" thing lurking.
And BTW....that mock is brutal. Unless they are fixing a lot of areas in FA, two safeties back to back is nuts. -
Commander of AwesomeTo be fair, Jeff Risdon took a pussy cop out way with his second pick when he said he mockes players to position and not teams. Total pussy way to write to avoid criticism IMO. I would legit be pissed if we wasted two picks on a safety. I don't think we take a safety in the top 3 rounds.
As for BR's mock, I'd be pissed. Hillis is a head case that can't stay healthy, we need a new RB far as I'm concerned. I don't want to trade the #22 pick and blackmon can fuck off. He's my number 5 rated WR and would hate for us to waste the #4 on him. That's pretty close to worst case scenario for me. -
bases_loadedThere are 4 better WR than Blackmon? Gtfo

Commander of Awesome
4 WRs with better tools to succeed in the Pros/higher ceilings. Yes. Sorry when I see Blackmon I see Crabtree or best case Anquan Boldin.bases_loaded;1070984 wrote:There are 4 better WR than Blackmon? Gtfo
I'd rather take Wright, Sanu, Floyd, Jefferies, Quick. I think those 4 all have potential to be #1s in the NFL, I dont see that with Blackmon. I'm aware most share my opinion.
Blackmon is my #5 followed by Joe Adams and Rueben Randle. -
bases_loadedIts like you forget how good Boldin was before he was traded to a rookie QB.
I see Boldin as his floor. -
BR1986FB
What was worse was that they were also advocating grabbing Bowe in FA and still drafting Blackmon at #4. Now they'd have some good pass catchers there but they'd probably STILL have the SLOWEST wide receiving corps in the NFL. Bowe's game is similar to Blackmon's. No mention of a speed receiver at all.Commander of Awesome;1070976 wrote:

sleeperI don't get the obsession with Matt Flynn. He had 1 monster game, I don't want him.
Let's just draft RG3. If it takes our 1st and a 2nd round pick to move up 1 or 2 spots, just get it done. -

alex smith was a the first overall pick! theres a reason for that. he had the mobility, the arm and the accuracy. colt was a 3rd round pick, lacks height, arm strength and accuracy!DeyDurkie5;1070588 wrote:Alex smith missed throws for 7 years, and they made it to the NFC championship game. I'll give you arm strength, but not height or accuracy. Height is a copout and the kid completed 70% of his passes at Texas, so I don't see accuracy as an issue. For all intent and purposes, last year was McCoy's rookie year, and preparation was stunted by the lockout. Shurmur didn't let McCoy audible at the line, so Colt was stuck running the play, whether it was going to be successful against the defense or not. Add that to not having an WR's outside of Little, and it's easy to see why McCoy would struggle.shook_17;1071070 wrote:alex smith was a the first overall pick! theres a reason for that. he had the mobility, the arm and the accuracy. colt was a 3rd round pick, lacks height, arm strength and accuracy! -

This is a fallacy. Accuracy was one of his big "selling tools" coming out of Texas. He's yet to show it at this level. He's missed a lot of open receivers when given the opportunity.se-alum;1071085 wrote: the kid completed 70% of his passes at Texas, so I don't see accuracy as an issue. -

So, can you clarify to us whether or not you like Blackmon? We couldn't tell from your other 100 posts regarding Blackmon.Commander of Awesome;1070986 wrote:4 WRs with better tools to succeed in the Pros/higher ceilings. Yes. Sorry when I see Blackmon I see Crabtree or best case Anquan Boldin.

He's right on par accuracy wise with what Peyton Manning and Drew Brees done in their first couple years. Not to mention Manning and Brees had big time RB's in Marshall Faulk and LT. The Colts also had Marvin Harrison. Sure McCoy missed some passes, but he was also hurt by drops and receivers that couldn't make the difficult catches. Also, people like to overlook the fact that McCoy has been handcuffed by Shurmur. -
BR1986FB
Or is Shurmur handcuffed by McCoy and his inability to make all of the throws? Fans look at it one way, the front office/coaches may look at it from a different perspective. I have to believe that Childress came here under the pretense that he'd have better "tools/players" to work with than Colt McCoy. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...se-alum;1071115 wrote:Also, people like to overlook the fact that McCoy has been handcuffed by Shurmur. -

McCoy "not being able to make all the throws", shouldn't affect his ability to get out of one play, and into a better play. Even if it's a basic audible from a run to a pass or vice versa. Again, not sure if you watched St. Louis any when Shurmur was there, but they had the same terrible passing game. Common denominator is Shurmur.BR1986FB;1071118 wrote:Or is Shurmur handcuffed by McCoy and his inability to make all of the throws? No. Just sick of shitty QB's in Cleveland. Get it fixed...END of story.SportsAndLady;1071151 wrote:I mean did Colt McCoy do something to you personally or something lol -

You're probably tired of shitty LB's in Cleveland, and shitty WR's in Cleveland, and shitty coaches in Cleveland...but you don't post about that every single postBR1986FB;1071153 wrote:No. Just sick of shitty QB's in Cleveland. Get it fixed...END of story.
But man if someone mentions one thing about McCoy, here's BR to quickly respond and turn it into a "McCoy isn't good" post. -
sleeperI don't think McCoy is good either. I don't care if he had Lebron James as his RB, he'd still suck.

I'm not the only one who thinks this. I just voice my displeasure much more than most. I'm not emotionally "tied" to him like some of you. He doesn't deserve a fair "chance." He HAD his chance.SportsAndLady;1071167 wrote:But man if someone mentions one thing about McCoy, here's BR to quickly respond and turn it into a "McCoy isn't good" post.
