We're not emotionally tied to him either...most people on here would be perfectly happy if they decide to go another direction at the QB spot. Seriously, name me one time anyone on here has said "i'm not going to watch any games if they get rid of McCoy. He's going to be really good!" Yeah, you won't find that.

The only point we are making is that maybe we should give him some weapons and a second year (because you know, he's only played ONE full season), and see how he does. Sorry that you can't live w/ that.

Oh and I'm glad you weren't GM of Indy's first year w/ Peyton starting. Man, he had his chance and he was bad...he didn't deserve that second year, right?

Oh and I love how you pick and choose things to respond to in posts. You going to acknowledge the fact that you never say this much about the LB position sucking or the WR position sucking or the coaches we've had sucking, you just gonna completely ignore that?

LOL...Exactly WHERE were Peyton Manning and Colt McCoy selected in the draft? Yeah...I thought so.

Its not that I don't like Blackmon, not surprised the point about Blackmon is the value of the pick was lost on you. I think Blackmon will be a decent WR in this league, just see his ceiling is Boldin. I'd rather take a guy like Sanu at #22 with a higher ceiling and production in a pro style offense who has the physical tools to become a better WR overall than Blackmon.

Blackmon at 4 is a reach pick, just like Richmond would be. The Browns will be in a tough spot at #4 if RG3 is gone. No one offensively is worth the #4 pick. I'd rather go Claibone at #4 and get a pwn defense than get Richardson or Blackmon and watch this offense wallow in mediocrity. If we are for sure no matter what going offense than I'd rather Richardson. He will come in and be a top 8 RB from day 1 IMO. Blackmon will not provide the same offensive spark.

Do you want me to find someone who was drafted in the 2nd round or later who had a poor rookie season then went on to become a very good QB?

And again, you just pick and choose what to respond with, it's such a joke.
  • BR1986FB
McCoy's not going to get that 3rd year because he's a THIRD ROUNDER. If he was the #1 overall pick in the draft I'd AGREE with you but he's NOT. He's a DISPOSABLE QB. He's shit that you throw against the wall and hope it sticks. It hasn't stuck. You're in a position to get a franchise QB THIS year. You DO it.

The only good QBs to come out of the 2nd round in the past 15 yrs are Dalton and Brees.

I think Dalton is on the downward slope, he was pretty terrible his last 6 games or so, DA syndrome. I don't expect him to continue and be the signal called in Cincy 3 yrs from now.

This should be the bottomline. I see Blackmon being like Crabtree, a decent receiver but nowhere near good enough to be a top 4 pick. This isn't like a Calvin Johnson type WR, where you can justify using a top pick on him. If we draft Blackmon, it better be later than #4.

YES but my POINT is THAT sometimes 3rd rounders PAN OUT and you CAN'T really tell HOW good SOMEONE is going to be IF they DONT have any WEAPONS AROUND them. HE banged your GIRLFRIEND or something BECAUSE you HATE the guy and now want to START the whole QB thing OVER like we do EVERY year. When INSTEAD we can just give HIM one MORE year and THEN EVALUATE HIM.

I've already addressed the WR & LB situation. Are you STUPID? Who has been telling you, your boy, Sanu would look good in Brown & Orange? Also mentioned Wright from Baylor as a target and SEVERAL free agent WR's I'd like targeted. Bottom line...gotta have SOMEONE to throw it to them. I've also said that Fujita is old and slow/needs replaced...but, of course, you "selectively" read what you want. See...two can play that game.

That's just the 2nd and 3rd rounds? I said 2nd round or later.

And my point is (and I think it will also be the point of the front office) that you don't have TIME to gamble and "hope" that McCoy turns into something. When I say "time", it's not me being impatient, it's looking through what I think the front office thinks. Holmgren is on the clock. He's out of here in 3 years or less. He has an image to uphold and a legacy he doesn't want tarnished. I'm sure he doesn't want to be known as "the guy who went to Cleveland to collect a paycheck." He wants to WIN and he's going to expedite the process at the opportune time...which is NOW.

Right but you don't bash the current players on the roster until their heads are caved in on every post. Yeah, no shit Fujita needs to be replaced, he's old as fuck and sucks; McCoy is young and has shown SOME sort of promise. If you really can't see that, I don't know what to tell you

Point of the article is that most 2nd and 3rd round QBs don't last or progress into good starters in the NFL.

Joe Montana, ever heard of him?

I think Colt McCoy in the WCO offensive (which was supposed to be his strength/style suited to his ability) and really showed no promise. I think if anything he took a step backwards this season. Lot of drops on offense, terrible rbs, inconsistent Oline all played a part. Bottom line he has to improve regardless for this team to get wins.

Yes, I understnad that and your article/point is duly noted.

Most 6th rounders don't pan out either, but then you have Tom Brady

When was that? Going to cite 14th rounders back in the 60s next?

If that's true, we better expect to make a big splash in free agency. We're close to being good, but we can't just do it through the draft, at least not quickly.

Exception not the rule. McCoy doesn't even look close to Tom Brady.

I think they will grab 3 starters in FA.

I think its a combo of everything. Patty boy being a terrible OC, bad WRs, bad line, bad play from the RB spot, and poor play from the QB spot.

I know the 2 brothers on here are McCoy believers/want to see him with talent. However I just see that as delaying the inevitable. He comes in next wr with new weapons and sucks the excuse will be new WRs in a new system, rookie WRs takes them 3 years, etc..... The excuses will just never end.

    I agree
