2012 Cleveland Browns thread: AKA Pat Shurmur Memorial thread

Commander of AwesomeSpeculation is that Patteron was very casual in his rehab and horrible on game day. Wouldn't be physical in assignments.
-
Pick6
I heard he said he didnt want to tough it out and play until he was completely healed so other teams did not get bad tape on him for free agency. SMH. Maybe they are making room to sign another in FA or draft someone fairly high.Commander of Awesome;1346484 wrote:Speculation is that Patteron was very casual in his rehab and horrible on game day. shook_17saw a rumor of saban to cleveland 10 year 100 million dollar deal. chip kelly would be out due to wanting full power. so if those two don't pan out it will be mcdaniels. then lambardi as GM. he and NFL network are in process of finalizing deal of letting him go.
-
like_thatDo you guys think the Browns will hire a new coach before the SB?
-
Commander of AwesomePatterson just signed a fucking new 3 yr deal this year. Fucking bum shouldnt have been worried about FA.

"Everybody's (under) independent contracts, and you all have to put good stuff on film at the end of the day," said Patterson. "No one's going to step in for me and say, 'I forgot he had an ankle.' No, they're going to be, 'He just got beat for three touchdowns.' That's the reality of the situation."Commander of Awesome;1346518 wrote:Patterson just signed a fucking new 3 yr deal this year. Ill be pissed if they hire McDaniels. -

From that article..richardson just broke a rookie record for the browns for rushing tds and is 46 yards shy of breaking the rookie yardage record.
Iggy: "richardson has looked like crap for most of the year." -
wes_mantoothRichardson has been ok, but dinged up. I look for a huge year from him next year with the right coach in place.

I agree with iggy, relatively speaking. At 3 overall you better be an all-pro, ap level back to justify the pick, because you can find a decent rb anywhere. Only 2 carries over 20 yards and 3.5 per carry is disappointing given the expectations for a top 5 pick.SportsAndLady;1346537 wrote:From that article..richardson just broke a rookie record for the browns for rushing tds and is 46 yards shy of breaking the rookie yardage record.

shook_17we had 4 rushing tds as a team last year. 11 by richardson this year. he is fine, playing with bad ribs and our online is good awful with creating holes. he will be fine.
if not richardson who? tannehill? blackmon? claiborne? please. richardson was BPA and fit a need.
EDIT: peterson is going to be in canton. please dude is a once in a lifetime back. -

Looks like after the Jags demoted Gabbert.....Blackmon started getting some stats. I am ok with TRich though...I like how he runsshook_17;1346574 wrote:we had 4 rushing tds as a team last year. 11 by richardson this year. he is fine, playing with bad ribs and our online is good awful with creating holes. he will be fine.

yup. I saw the same thing. Gabbert is definitely the problem down there. I am happier with richardson, gordon than any other combo and i was a HUGE Blackmon pimp last year.. Interesting point. AP averaged 5.6 ypc his rookie year. The lowest he has ever had in one season is 4.4. Interestingly enough, Brad Childress was AP's head coach his rookie season.Mulva;1346569 wrote:I agree with iggy, relatively speaking. royal_kI'm happy with TRich, for the most part. He hasn't had the best run blocking and hasn't been 100% all year. Plus the play calling has been atrocious.

Comparing him to the 2011 browns and comparing him to the expectations of a top 5 pick are not the same thing.shook_17;1346574 wrote:we had 4 rushing tds as a team last year. 11 by richardson this year. he is fine, playing with bad ribs and our online is good awful with creating holes. he will be fine.

Compared to the average NFL back he's been alright. Compared to expectations he's been disappointing. And saying he has been disappointing and he will be fine aren't mutually exclusive. -

So in his first year, he needs to be of the level of possibly the greatest RB we've ever seen?Mulva;1346569 wrote:I agree with iggy, relatively speaking. By the way..if we had a different coach/offense, I'd have no problems saying richardson would have been an all pro..when we got him in space and utilized his ability, he looked unstoppable. -
bases_loadedYou're judging a guy at 80% health and tecmo bowl play calling?
Saban will bring a system T-Rich thrived in and McDaniels will bring a system that looks like the rest of the NFL. I'm fine with either guy. -

Commander of AwesomeSS T.J. Ward headed to IR with bone bruise on knee, league source confirms. Expect some roster moves announced later today.
Awesome. -
mucalum49Adam Schefter‏@AdamSchefter One of Jerry Jones’ right hand man, Cowboys senior VP and general counsel Alec Scheiner, has agreed to become Cleveland Browns' president.

Commander of AwesomeInteresting. Banner CEO this guy President?
-
Pick6Well there goes all of Iggy and the doomsdayer's theories about Banner wanting to have a coach that will be his bitch.
I have confidence in whatever move Haslam makes(which is was bases_loaded way saying earlier), because he is actually a football guy unlike Lerner. -
royal_k
Sounds like Haslam wants some big guns at the top. This probably spells the end for Heckert and Shurmur. (As if the writing wasn't already on the wall)Commander of Awesome;1346701 wrote:Interesting. Banner CEO this guy President? -

How do you figure? From what we've been able to gather all the football guys still answer to Banner and don't have any real control.Well there goes all of Iggy and the doomsdayer's theories about Banner wanting to have a coach that will be his bitch.
That came out in the Heckert stuff earlier that if he was even possibly going to stay on he would have to relinquish final say on the roster to Banner.
You don't find it a little odd that Banner, who desperately wants to be a football guy even though he is just a really good accountant/cap guy, came in and effectively turned the traditional role of General Manager into nothing more than a glorified player personnel director, leaving himself with all the real power?
Andy Reid muscled him out of Philly, and Banner seems hell bent on making sure that nothing like that can ever happen to him again now that Haslam has effectively handed the franchise over to him and allowed him to run wild.
