    [h=3]Nets Trade For Okur[/h]Dec 22, 2011 7:47 PM EST
Mehmet Okur was sent from Utah to New Jersey for a second-round pick in 2015.
The Nets acted quickly to acquire a big man, on the same day that they lost center Brook Lopez to a stress fracture for an indefinite period of time.
The Nets were able to absorb Okur's contract with the team's salary cap space.

I think with Lopez being on the shelf for who knows how long, the trade of Howard to LA might be back in the works. As much as I am against losing BOTH bigs for him, because he is very overrated IMO; I think Mitch and the Buss family need to pull the trigger.

Then again, David Stern will probably step in and veto it.

I agree about him being overrated, but he's better than Gasol+Bynum, IMO.

No way Howard is worth more than Gasol and Bynum (when healthy) of course that is always the issue with Bynum can he play a full season.
Orlando would be dumb to not trade Howard at some point unless they really think he is going to stay.

Agreed, the lakers don't need help up front, they have the best 5-4 combo in basketball. They need young legs on the perimeter, an upgrade at pg has been needed for a while now, sorry DFish.

I probably won't watch this year. It's getting too close to spring training for me.

Fish did fairly well on Wednesday night. But I really worry about him in the shortened season. I think Steve Blake will have a pretty good year, but it won't be enough. He really struggled with the Triangle and I think MB's offense will allow him to be able to just play this year. He shot the ball really well in the 2 preseason games, just hope it continues.

I'm more worried about who the hell is going to back Kobe up. Jason Kapono? Barnes? Goudeluck?

Steve Blake is much better than he showed last year, he knocked down 5 threes the other night and ran the point well. I like Fisher but let's be honest, he has been hidden by the triangle for years now, he has been one of the worst starting pg's in the league for years now, especially defensively. I know he knows down clutch shots but besides that what does he do well? Kapono can help them but only if they get him open shots, he is a knock down shooter but is worthless if you don't get him open shots.

Did the fans start chanting MVP for him? That's how you know he is good.

Bynum's suspension has been reduced by a game, down to 4 now.

Does anyone else think Bynum is one of the most overrated players in the NBA? He averages 10 and 7 for his career and misses like 20 games a season. Dude just CANT stay healthy. Hes played in 55+ games 1 time in the last 4 years.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I've never understood the praise for him. The Lakers were better when he was on the bench and Odom and Gasoline played together.

I think pretty much everyone who isn't a Lakers fan feels that way.

Overrated by who? No Laker fan i know thinks he is an All Star at this point. His career #'s are not as high because the first 2 years he didn't play much if you look at his #'s from his 3rd year on he has been very, very solid even with the injuries. Just because he has been injured doesn't mean he is "overrated". If you watched him when he first came into the leaugue and now he has improved by leaps and bounds. He just turned 24 yrs old.

Why do the Lakers love him so much. They have had multiple opportunities to deal him for major pieces and they just keep hanging on to him for whatever reason

Jim Buss (calling the shots now) loves him and he is the one who refuses to trade him up until now. I think he would do it if it involved Howard but not both Gasol and Bynum for Howard. He would give up Bynum or Gasol and some other player and or draft picks for Howard, imo.
