Then provide some data. How can you win an argument by saying, "Those stats are dumb. I'm right. You're wrong".

You have to make a valid point eventually, don't you?

    Soooooooo..........

The Clippers missed the playoffs by 14 games last season. Now in a shortened season and the addition of CP3, will they make it?

Also, they were 9-32 on the road. CP3 is great, but he ain't THAT great.

how is the sample size too small? It was done over the whole 2010-2011 season. Seems like accurate and relevant information to me. But, Kobe isn't on it, so it must be crap.

I think you are overvaluing him, but I agree it was a bad trade. I think people are overvaluing DeAndre Jordan too. Dude is a ferocious dunker and a pretty solid weakside defender, but he's still really raw considering he's been in the league 3 years now, he doesn't really have an offensive game if he isn't dunking, and he's foul prone. Kaman > Jordan at this point, and EG could be a top 20 player in the league this year.

I would expect Chauncy to start at the 2 now.

    Paul/Williams/Bledsoe
    Billups/Foye
    Butler/Gomes
    Griffin
    Jordan

They obviously need to make another move to get some post depth, unless Trey Thompkins is going to be playing 25 minutes a game as a rookie. Adding Butler and Chauncy, who are getting up there in years, it's almost like they've gone into win now mode.

His top defenders. Mike Miller is the 12th best defender in the NBA and Gortat is the 2nd. Yeah great "stats" there.

So then you agree that Jennings is the best pg defender in the NBA?
Mike Miller is the 2nd best Sg defender in the NBA?
Gortat is the best defensive center in the NBA?

Good argument. So which stats specifically that were used do you think skew the rankings? You have to be able to make a more valid argument, right?

Again, you can't say the stats are stupid when it's actual hard data, and fail to provide anything supporting your argument here.

It's like me saying Kevin Durant isn't a great scorer. I know he led the league in scoring but those stats are dumb.

What do you have that says otherwise, other than just your opinion?

Nothing, it's just not at all what he expected so it must be wrong. Keep in mind this is the man that swore that Wilt had a 50 inch vertical.

I think they may make it cause they are all a year better while a lot of the west is a year older. The shortened season will for sure help the younger teams like the Clippers.

They were also right in it (like within 2 games I think) when EJ went down with his injury. It was in the middle of the Griffin run of double doubles when they beat some solid teams including the Lake Show. I forget how late into the season it was, but they could have made a run (I think they couldve been 9 games better) had Eric stayed healthy. They also were MUCH better once they got rid of Baron Davis, who completely stunted the growth of EJ, Bledsoe and Aminu while he was there.

    This.

The only thing I didn't like about the trade regarding the LAC is giving up that 1st round pick.

Other than that, I thought it was a very good trade for both teams involved.

Eric Gordon is a beast and will be a nice building piece for the Hornets. The Clips just signed Caron Butler, which is another solid move.

CP3 is going to make that team better just because of his court vision and play making ability. Aside from that, as Laley mentioned, the Clips are young and athletic and are a year better as well.

So you believe that Mike Miller and Brandon Jennings are elite defenders?
  • lhslep134
In my opinion there's a difference between elite defender and a defender with elite skills. Elite defenders give it their all every single play and make life miserable for the person they're guarding. When I think of someone like that I think Artest, Battier, going back a few years Bruce Bowen.

I don't think Lebron is an elite defender, I think he has elite defensive skills, and when he tries, he's elite for that stretch.

I've seen him play great defense for stretches, but while in cleveland I've also seen him ask to guard a weaker player on a team. Now when you see guys like Artest, or back in the day MJ, wanting to guard the teams best player it leaves you scratching your head.

I can't wait for someone to mention saving his energy. In the regular season I guess that might hold some water, but I was witness (lol) to this same attitude by LBJ in the post season. He would only D up as they say in the 4th quarter.

Like when Kobe told Phil he wanted to guard Westbrook in Game 5 of the playoffs because Westbrook had been lighting the Lakers up. Kobe locked up Westbrook the ENTIRE game and changed the series.

I really didn't watch too many Nuggets games though, so probably wrong.

    Is that proper grammar?

Not at all, just thought since S&L is concerned with proper grammar he would like to know his mistakes.
But I knew it would go right over and thru your head.

A lot of it comes down to coaching and being rational. Why would you have your best player and by far your best offensive player run the risk of getting in foul trouble? I can see why elite players get put on weaker offensive players at times.
